  • The Online business model for purchasing agent service is getting more popular. However, consumers perceive more risk when buying products from foreign online purchasing agents (FOPA) than from common online sellers (COS). This study focuses on finding out how consumers manage risk when they perceive risk and what different risk-reliever strategies they use when buying from high-risk FOPA and low-risk COS. This study has proved the following two. First, when consumers perceive risk at online purchasing, they tend to select risk-reliever strategies, such as the use of communication media, online assurance mark, seller's record, and secure payment to mitigate risk. With the application of those risk-reliever strategies, they built trust with the seller. Second, risk-perception of FOPA influences usage of communication media and check of online assurance mark more strongly than that of COS. On the contrary, risk-perception of COS influences the check of seller record more strongly than that of FOPA. This study helps to explain why FOPA is proliferating, despite its inherent high risk due to the fact that buyers and sellers are separated in time and space and that buyers and sellers have different social and cultural backgrounds. This study also helps managers of E-commerce to relieve consumer's risk-perception and to build trust.

  • The advancements in scientific technology and information network in the 21st century allow us to easily acquire a desired knowledge. In the midst of today's informatization, globalization, and cultural diversification, adolescents experience emotional confusion while accommodating diverse cultures and information. This study aimed at examining three aspects of character suggested by the Ministry of Education, which are ethics, sociality, and emotion, and the actual sub-factors required for character education. To that end, a survey was conducted with adolescents who were at a character-building age, and social network analysis (SNA) was performed to determine the effect of character education on the sub-factors. The statistics program SPSS was used to investigate the general traits of the subjects and the validity of the research variables. The 2-mode data that were finally selected were converted to 2-mode data using NetMinder 4, which is a network analysis tool. Furthermore, a data network was established based on a quasi-network that represents the relationships between ethics, sociality, and emotion. The results of this study showed that the subjects considered honesty and justice to be the sub-domains of the ethics domain. In addition, they identified sympathy, communication, consideration for others, and cooperation as the sub-domains of the sociality domain. Finally, they believed that self-understanding and self-control were the sub-domains of the emotion domain.

  • In Japan, the direct payment scheme for mountainous areas was introduced in order to enhance multifunctionality of less-favored areas in 2000. A comprehensive ex post assessment showed that the scheme effectively contributed to prevention of abandoned cultivated lands, maintenance and enhancement of multifunctionality of agriculture, continuous assistance for agricultural production, and revitalization of community. In 2005 a second round of the scheme started and urged encouraging core farmers, improving productivity, and reinforcing inter-village coalition as to promote autonomous and sustainable rural economies. A new different scheme such as 'measures to conserve and improve land, water and environment' was launched for strengthening conservation and management of rural resources over all areas in 2007. It covers one third of paddy fields with regards to maintenance of water facilities and practice of group eco-farming beyond less-favored area. A lot of public programs have been developed for rural revitalization recently. Additionally some have a complementary role to enlarging cultural multifunctionality in rural societies. We could interpret the institutional progress as an evolutionary path of rural development and environmental schemes for the past decade. Much experience of community works through the direct payment scheme for mountainous areas may have resulted in accumulation of social competence for elaboration of rural management..

Due to this, local government has established a visual landscape plan. The purpose of this study is to analyze the process and content of domestic rural landscape planning process and to suggest improvements for it. For that, this study measure guideline of Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs against guideline of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. To analyze the landscape planning guideline of australia which is similar to domestic rural landscape planning process, and to compare both guidelines. The results of this study are as follow. The stage of landscape resource survey and assessment progressed systematically, but it was not practical because for the lack of survey and assessment method. Therefore, it should be suggested for the survey and assessment technique. The rural landscape plan, established in master planning stage, do not necessarily reflect local government's landscape management on the ground of abstract technic of landscape management. For this sake, to develop evaluation method for development of landscape element seems necessary.

  • This paper uses the status inconsistency theory to identify factors related to team members' (dis)satisfaction with the composition of virtual IT project teams in order to predict their turnover intentions. Our approach is based on the premise that virtual teams, although increasingly popular among global organizations, create an environment replete with cultural and functional diversity. Yet, a paradox exists: increasing diversity in virtual teams maximizes the creation and use of organizational knowledge while simultaneously increasing dissatisfaction and turnover. This is a critical issue in the formation and management of virtual teams. Therefore, we investigate how team members' perceptions of differences among themselves (i.e. foreignness) impact the stability of team membership, leading to what we describe as a 'liability of foreignness.' Findings indicate that a member's perception of foreignness has a detrimental effect on satisfaction with his or her team members while satisfaction is likely to decrease turnover intention. This may be an implication that managers need to maintain a balance in order to discourage member turnover and the loss of key players.
