In order for obtaining the related information 12 sample areas among 23 major sericultural farming areas and 30 farm units in each area are selected and analyzed in this study. The fold suevey is made by member of this study team and graduate students in the Department of Sericultural Science with a prepared questionnaires. Cross-section and regression analysis methods are employed for processing the data in this study. The major findings obtained are as followings. 1. Sericultural earnings per Tanbo is, on the average, 22, 752 won in new cultivated areas and 29, 403 won in ordinary ones. There are big difference in the size of earnings by areas, especially, 46, 968 won in Kumo mountain area, compared with 16, 798 won in Yeoju and Yichun areas. General trend is finded that small scale farming units are made higher earnings and operating their farms efficiently. 2. Cocoon production expences per Tanbo is 16, 737 won in new cultivated areas and 19, 802 won in ordinary areas. There are also big difference in farming expences, especially, 27, 389 won in Sudang area, compared with 11, 689 won in Emjin area. 3. Sericultural income per Tanto is 10, 664 won in ordinary areas and 6, 898 won in new cultivated areas. Farmers in Kumo mountain area make the highest income of 21, 164 won and lowest income of 1, 296 won in Sudang area. It can be generized that about 30-50 a sized farmers make higher income. 4. Land, labor and capital productivities estimated by fitting Cobb-Douglas functions in ordinary areas are higher than in new cultivated areas, especially, labor productivity is higher in ordinary areas. 5. Changsung, Kwangna, Yunsun and Kumo mountain areas are technically and economically efficient. Sudang and Mujinchang areas are technically successful but economically inefficient and Emjin and Honam areas are technically inefficient but economically efficient. YeojuYichun, Chunwon and West Kyongnam are technically and economically inefficient. Technical and economic improvement program should be implemented for these areas. 6. Estimated Internal Rate of Return (IRR) on capital investment in Chongwon are is 23.5 percent. It is economically feasible, if we consider 20 percent of opportunity cost of capital in our economy.

  • The experiment was carried out to find aromatic constituent composition of Codonopsis lanceolata species grown in the native(Mt. lrwol, Youngyang, Kyungpuk Province) and the cultivated(Andong, Kyungpuk Province) areas from 1994 to 1995. The results were as follows : Air temperature and soil temperature at the native area were lower to $2{\sim}3^{\circ}C$, and to $2^{\circ}C$ than the cultivated area. Organic matter contents of plant grown at the native area higher than that of plants at the cultivated area by 4.8%. Crude protein content was higher in plant grown at native area than the plant grown in wild area but in case of crude saponin, plants grown at wild area was higher than that of native area. For inorganic element contents. K content is much higher than in the domesticated area as compared with wild area above ten over. And other elements such as Cu, Mn, Na and Mg were not remarkably different in contents. In the free amino acid compositions, argine was highest compared with other free amino acids, and Arginine content was higher in dometicated area. Recovery yield of essential oil of wild species grown at the cultivated showed 0.005%, but domesticated species was 0.004%. But both species at the native area were the same by 0.004%. Although composition of aromatic constituents in the two areas and species varied, total aromatic constituent was 21 kinds. Most aromatic constituents were aliphatic alcohols such as 1-hexanol, eis-3-hexanol, and trans-2-hexanol occupied by approximately 90% over. But three constituets as amylalcohol, furfuryl acetate, and 2-methoxy-4-vinyl phenol(MVP) were detected only in domesticated species.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the economic value of organic wheat production using gelatin·chitin microorganisms in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju city. The soil condition of experiment field was clay loam Jisan series. The organically cultivated fields were sprayed gelatin and chitin degrading bacteria. The test was performed at conventionally cultivated field and organically cultivated field. Emergence of weed on organically cultivated field was significantly higher than conventionally cultivated field which sprayed herbicide before seeding. Weed emergence have a critical impact on grain yield. Occurrence of diseases and insect pests were higher than conventionally cultivated fields. In 2019, the amount of lodging in conventionally cultivated field were higher than conventionally cultivated field. In 2020, lodging and wet injury were occur in both field. Comparing yield element between organically and conventionally cultivated experimental area, grain yield in organically cultivated field was shown slightly higher amount than conventionally cultivated field. However in the actual yield of 2019, organically cultivated field shows 20% deceased yield because of overgrown weed. In 2020, weed emergence and yellow mosaic virus by wet injury cause 30% decease in the grain yield in organically cultivated field. Content of protein, carbohydrates, ash, water and fat in the grain were not different significance. In 2019, net incomes of conventionally cultivated wheat was 461,031 won/0.1 ha while organically cultivated wheat was 443,437 won/0.1 ha. In the rate of income, conventionally cultivated field was 83.0% as against organically cultivated field (73.3%). In 2020, net incomes of organically cultivated wheat was 437,812 won/0.1 ha while conventionally cultivated wheat was 418,281 won/0.1 ha. In the rate of income, conventionally cultivated field was 81.6% as against organically cultivated field (73.0%).

  • Characterization of water quality was performed from March 1993 to March 1998, on the purpose of clarifying the relationships between water quality and land use types. The study sites were two reservoir basins; Kaesim and Jangchan in Iwon-myon, Okchon-gun, Chungcho'ngbukdo Province. The two basins were characterized by cultivated area (Kaesim reservoir) and mountain area (Jangchan reservoir), and divided into eleven small basins, where dynamics of pollutants, and the relationship between water quality and land use types were investigated. BOD, SS and TKN became lower and lower from up-stream to down-stream, except for the small basin G where self-purification limit was exceeded. And water quality of Jangchan reservoir basin was worse because of fish nursery. Area below altitude 200m occupied 56% in Kaesim and 44% in Jangchan reservoir basins. Especially total phosphorous (Y/sub T-P/=0.2023X+0.0991, r=0.54) and total nitrogen increased in small basins where the proportion of cultivated and residential area was higher. The analysis of influences of pollutant discharge on water quality showed that pollution charge was very high in cultivated areas. The concentrations of pollutants were attenuated flowing into watersheds through physical, chemical, biochemical, and biological processes. The pollution level of mountain area was lower than that of cultivated areas.

  • Forage barley was developed for decreasing the import of forages, and increasing the farmer' income about ten years ago. Nevertheless of higher of farmer' income, the forage barley' area is slowly increased because of lacking of barely seeds. In order to suggest the plan of the urgent spreading on forage barley, the seed-gathering of forage barley was cultivated on 14-provinces and 291ha on 2009. The cultivation area of kyeungnam, kyeungbuk and chunnam province was more than other provence. The youngyang cultivar was cultivated more than orher cultivar. Seed-gathering amount of Youngyang, Uhoo and Yooyun cultiva was 364,213 and 303MT respectively. There were several problems for seed-gathering of forage barley which were the delay of seeding time and the more seeding amount, and the higher seed drying temperature than that of standard manual.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose an ecological management plan by the comprehensive analysis of biotope structures on Namsan Urban Natural Park in Seoul. Classified by actual vegetation, structure of layer and vegetation damage, biotope structures were composed of forest area, compact management area, herb area, cultivated area and non-ecology(urban) area. Succession had seened to stop in the Native forest. Artifical forest was divided into two types. The first, upper layer, was too dense to accommodate lower layer plants, the other case was the appearance of Quercus spp. and the first stage plants of succession following the declination of the upper layer plants. The soil pH of Nam-san Urban Park was 4.21∼4.51, which meant the soil was becoming acid. As the result of acidity, leaching of available nutrition(K/sup +/, NH₄/sup +/, Ca/sup ++/ etc.) was immediately influenced by the natural ecosystem, influence of acid rain was disturbed to becoming organic matter which was use to plants. In the case of a biotope structure management plan, the urban area was prohibited to spread outside. Cultivated and herb area was regenerated to natural forest. In the forest area, the compact management area was maintained with its present condition, and then it is desirable to make a preservation area and to plant shrubs. Planted Pinus densiflora Community was needed to eliminate competitive species of canopy layer, and plant shrubs. Management of deciduous broad-leaved Comm. was maintained in its present conditionand it is desirable to raise the diversity of the understory and shrub layer. The management of the artifical forest seems to be suitable for Q. spp. community. The care of naturalized plants prevents the expansion and restores the structure of wild plants. The soil management was a marked restoration soil ecosystem in order to prevent soil acid and drying.
