  • It is well known that the rotating motion of a blade-like structure induces centrifugal inertia force that causes the variation of the natural frequencies of the structure. Even though most of blade-like structures can be successfully Idealized as beams, some behave like plates rather than beams. This paper presents a modeling method for the flapwise bending vibration analysis of rotating cantilever plates. The dependence of natural frequencies and free vibration modes on the angular speed as well as the aspect ratio of a rotating plate is investigated. Particularly. the natural frequency loci crossing is observed and discussed In the present study.

편광기법을 이용한 수직교차평면의 PIV 속도장 동시측정 (Simultaneous Measurements of Velocity Fields at Two Vertically Crossing Planes by PIV Systems Using Polarization Technique)

  • A new PIV technique was developed for decreasing optical error which was created during simultaneous measurements of velocity fields at a wall-normal plane and wall-parallel plane by a plane PIV and a Stereo-PIV systems. For experimental study, two different Reynolds number based on momentum thickness, Re$_{ =514 and 934 were generated in a blowing type wind tunnel under the condition of zero pressure gradient. The two Nd:Yag laser systems and three CCD cameras were synchronized. to obtain instantaneous velocity fields at the same time. To avoid optical noise at the crossing line by the two laser light sheets, a new optical arrangement using polarization was applied. The obtained velocity fields show the existence of hairpin packet structure vividly and the idealized hairpin vortex signature is confirmed by experiment.

V자형 낙차공 모형 직하류 국부세굴공 발생특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Local Scour Hole Downstream of V-shaped Drop Structure Model)

  • 대표적인 하천횡단구조물 중 하나인 낙차공은 하천하상의 안정을 목적으로 설치되지만 이는 하천환경의 연속성을 차단하고, 수생태환경의 파괴를 야기하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 생태통로로서의 기능을 갖는 저낙차 자연형 낙차공을 모형으로 제작하여 실험실 실험을 수행하고, 적절한 지배인자 사이의 관계를 도출하여 국부세굴공 규모의 예측식을 제안하였다. 직선형과 6가지 상향 V 자형의 낙차공 모형에 대하여 각각 실험유량은 4가지로 총 28개의 조건에 대해서 실험을 수행하였다. 각각의 실험조건별 세굴실험 결과를 바탕으로 기존에 제안된 세굴심 추정식을 적용한 결과보다 최대세굴심이 다소 크게 발생함을 확인하였다. 따라서 낙차공 직하류부에서 발생하는 세굴공 발생 주요인자들 사이의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 낙차공으로의 유입흐름 특성과 낙차공의 높이, 낙차공의 총횡단길이와의 상관관계가 높게 나타남을 확인하였다. 또한 이를 토대로 각 실험조건별 세굴심과 세굴길이에 상관관계가 높다고 판단되는 변수들을 무차원화하여 최대세굴공의 깊이와 길이 산정식을 각각 제안하였다. 향후 추가적으로 다양한 하상토 재료와 수심변화를 고려한 실험적 연구 및 수치해석 연구를 병행하여 보다 정확한 세굴심 산정식을 도출할 수 있다.

철도 네트워크에서 직교 교차선로 표현을 위한 선로그래프의 개선 (Enhancement of Railway Graph for Representing Othogonal Railway Crossing in a Track Network)

  • 선로그래프[6]는 철도 네트워크의 선로배정 문제를 표현하는 자료구조로써 내부선분과 외부선분의 개념을 갖는 연결그래프 구조이다. 선로그래프는 일반 그래프로는 나타낼 수 없는 철도 네트워크의 선로 연결방향을 표현할 수 있지만 여전히 직교 교차선로를 일관되게 표현하지는 못한다. 이 논문에서는 가상선분 개념을 도입해서 선로그래프를 확장함으로써 직교 교차선로를 포함하는 철도 네트워크의 모든 선로연결 구조를 일관되게 표현할 수 있는 방법을 설명하고, 확장된 선로그래프인 ERG(Extended Railway Graph)의 자료구조 표현방법과 경로배정 방법을 제안한다.

Applied methods for seismic assessment of scoured bridges: a review with case studies

  • Flooding induced scour has been long recognized as a major hazard to river-crossing bridges. Many studies in recent years have attempted to evaluate the effects of scour on the seismic performance of bridges, and probabilistic frameworks are usually adopted. However, direct and straightforward insight about how foundation scour affects bridges as a type of soil-foundation-structure system is usually understated. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of applied methods centering around seismic assessment of scoured bridges considering soil-foundation-structure interaction. When introducing these applied analysis and modeling methods, a simple bridge model is provided to demonstrate the use of these methods as a case study. Particularly, we propose the use of nonlinear modal pushover analysis as a rapid technique to model scoured bridge systems, and numerical validation and application of this procedure are given using the simple bridge model. All methods reviewed in this paper can serve as baseline components for performing probabilistic vulnerability or risk assessment for any river-crossing bridge system subject to flood-induced scour and earthquakes.

  • Offshore structure crossing navigation waterways must not only be designed to resist gravity, wind, and earthquake load, but also be capable of resisting ship and barge collision load. Current specifications for offshore structure design provide empirical relationships for computing impact loads generated during barge collision, however, these relationships are based on the limited experimental data. In this paper, the dynamic finite element analysis is used to computing force for vessel collision scenarios to offshore structures. Results obtained from the ANSYS/LS-DYNA are compared to AASHTO bridge design specifications.

  • Until recently as a method of repairing leaking problem, generally urethane series were used for many structures as subway, box culvert etc. However the lacking of sufficient penetration capacity have made it difficult to repair such structures completely. Now, we could achieve enhanced quality of repairing work by using new material which was compounded of urethane series and cement series properly. This material can penetrate concrete structure efficiently and move interactively with the structure in case of the thermal expansion. Besides of this, we could prevent expecting leakage through several improvements on the aspects of design, materials and site implementation.

  • For non-contact structure vibration displacement measurement system, an algorithm for image processing using high speed CCD camera is introduced. The system sets the target to the structure, take picture using camera and image processing is performed to display the vibration data. The algorithm flow is basic preprocessing, projection data generation and curve fitting to find three crossing points for calibration or one center point in limited area.
