The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze motivation of entrance into the college, knowledge prior to the entrance, satisfaction with their major, and a sense of employment after graduation among students majoring in dental hygiene at some colleges and subdivide them by grades for comparative analysis to determine the progress of changes in general characteristics, department satisfaction, and a sense of employment among students majoring in dental hygiene for the recent three years and provide basic data for improving dental hygienic education. Questionnaires were distributed to 520 students majoring in dental hygiene at some college in South Chungcheong, South Jeolla, and North Jeolla Provinces, followed by explanation of the purport of the research and the content of the questionnaire; after completion, 513 copies were used for analysis with exception of 7 copies with insincere responses. The analysis of the data examined resulted in the following conclusions: First, Changes in Department Satisfaction among Students Majoring in Dental Hygiene As for motivation of entrance into a college, less and less students chose the department of dental hygiene through recommendation by parents or seniors while more and more students chose their major due to easy employment. Less and less students obtained information on the department from a college application guidebook while more and more students obtained it through Internet. There was also a gradual increase in prior knowledge about the department and in satisfaction with their major. More and more students had no will to change their course. Second, Changes in a Sense of Employment among Students Majoring in Dental Hygiene There was a gradual decrease in the number of students who would follow friends' or their own decision in selecting workplace but an increase in the number of those who would follow their professors' opinion. There was a gradual increase in the number of students who wanted to be employed in workplace with good social perception; many students wanted to be employed in a personal dental clinic, a general hospital, or a public health center; and more and more students also wanted to be employed in a school dental health center or to become a government official or an educator.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and eating behaviors of middle school students in Kwangju area about food and nutrition section of Home Economics course. The subjects were 480 middle school students. The major results were as follows: On the perception f food and nutrition section, the 1st graders learned ‘how to settle the problems related to food and nutrition and food choices’. The 2nd graders learned ‘the knowledge and principle of food and nutrition for improving dietary life’. The 3rd graders learned ‘actual dietary life functions like arranging menu and preparing meals’. Consequently, there was a significant difference in each grade and all boy and girl students have the highest response to the item ‘they learn how to settle the nutrition problem and foods choices’. On the interests in food and nutrition section, lower graders and girl students have higher interest than hgiher graders and boy students. The area which was considered as most interesting in food and nutrition sections was ‘cooking’ in all students. The perception of the concern on dietary life after learning food and nutrition section was higher in the 1st graders. On the perception of the area where was a great change in their own dietary life after learning food and nutrition section, the 1st graders responded there was a great change in ‘balanced dietary life’, the 2nd graders in ‘eating habit and nutrition of adolescence’and the 3rd graders in ‘cooking’. Especially, girl students showed more changes. On the perception of degree which food and nutrition section gives a help to actual life, students over 50% responded that it was helpful to their actual life. This showed that the lower the grades, the more help it gave to those students. On the perception of mother’s job, the students with working mother considered that they learned ‘actual dietary life functions like functions like arranging menu and preparing meals’from the food and nutrition section. In addition, they had high interests in the area of ‘cooking’. It was recognized that as the family size was greater, the food and nutrition section gave more helps to actual life. On eating behaviors of breakfast, the higher the grade, the more frequent they don’t have breakfast, boy students have more frequencies of having breakfast than girl students and the primary reason of not having breakfast is poor appetite. On whether going without a meal affects study or not, most of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders whether they are boys and girls or not responded it affected their study. On eating behaviors of lunch, most of boy and girl students in the 1st, 2nd 3rd grade have lunch box. On eating behaviors of supper, eating time is usually between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m and eating hour is mostly 10 or 15 minutes. On eating behaviors between meals, frequency of eating between meals is mostly once or twice a day and girl students have more frequencies of eating between meals, and the cause was hunger commonly in boy and girl students and ‘killing time’in girl students. The focus in getting the foods is ‘taste’and favorite food is fruit regardless of the grade.

This study investigated the influences of metacognitive learning strategies upon 6th-graders' achievement, science process skill, use of cognitive strategies, use of metacognitive strategies, self-efficacy, intrinsic value, attitude toward science class, and scientific attitude. The metacognitive learning strategies were developed on the basis of previous results and modified in a pilot study. Before the instructions, a pretest of motivation was administered, and used as a blocking variable. The score of previous achievement test was used as covariates for achievement and science process skill. Tests of use of cognitive strategies, use of metacognitive strategies, self-efficacy, intrinsic value, attitude toward science class, and scientific attitude were also administered, and their scores were used as covariates. After the instructions, a researcher-made achievement test, the Middle Grades Integrated Science Process Skills Test, and post-tests of above variables were administrated. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group for all tests except for science process skill. No interactions between the treatment and the level of the previous motivation were found. Educational implications are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to develop the model of constructivist multimedia-assisted instruction(CMAI) and to analyze the effect of it in the secondary school geography. The main results are as follows : (1) The conceptual model of CMAI can be defined as an instruction aiming at making a person who has self-directed learning ability through constructivism and multimedia. The procedural model of CMAI based on PIDA instructional strategy is divided into four stages : prediction & explanation, inquiry activity, discussion & fixation, application & synthesis stage. (2) CMAI is typed by offline CMAI and online CMAI. that is, O/WCMAI(online CMAI by web-based courseware). Offline CMAI is subdivided into P/TCMAI(offline CMAI by presentation-based courseware) and C/RCMAI(offline CMAI by cd-rom based courseware) according to authoring tool and function. (3) Offline constructivist multimedia course-ware(offline courseware) was developed for 2 periods as the material to analyze the effect of CMAI. Offline courseware is received development level of it. (4) After offline courseware being applied to the class, the effect of it according the types of the CMAI instruction(lecture instruction, whole teaching, individualized learning, cooperative learning) was analyzed. As the result of analyzing the descriptive statistics of the level of learning achievement and instruction response, there isn't big relationship between them. As the result of analyzing the inferential statistics of the level of learning achievement, there wasn't significant difference between the types of CMAI instruction in whole student of the classes and certain students who improved their grades. But as the result of analyzing of the level of instruction response, there was significant difference between lecture instruction and other types of the CMAI instruction(whole teaching, individualized learning, cooperative learning).
A number of schools have introduced the Reward and Punishment Mark System. It has been applied to children at school in order to minimize the ill effects that are often caused by physical punishment. In this case, teachers have caused problematic issues in the course of student life guidance at school. However, the application of the personal Reward and Punishment Mark System raises many other questions as well. Accordingly, there is the necessity of making up for its weak points on the systematic level. The purpose of this study is to understand the Effect of the Collective Reward and Punishment Mark System, as a substitute punishment to the physical punishment, applying the reward and punishment mark system not to an individual but to a group. The Collective Reward and Punishment Mark System for the upper grade students of primary schools showed a positive effect which assists their adaptation to school. To put it more concretely, according to the characters of the study subjects, the system has proved that boy students are more positively affected than girl students. It has been also revealed that those students in the fourth grade experience a positive change in all areas of the adaptation to school, while those in the fifth and the sixth grade were negatively affected. Moreover, those who hold a lower rank in respect of grade achievement experienced a more positive change than those standing among a high rank. It is expected that the Effect of the Collective Reward and Punishment Marks System, on the basis of the study, possesses affirmative intervention on the field.

This study examined whether the integrated education science and resource e-book developed for students with disabilities were properly implemented in terms of universal design for learning. For analysis, "Teaching and learning materials for inclusive education of students with disabilities: grade 3~6 sciences", which were instructional adaptation, were selected for students with disabilities who are unable to learn the contents of general textbooks for the 3rd to 6th grade of the elementary school science course in the 2015 revised curriculum. The science grades are composed of 40 units, including basic science inquiry, matter, life, kinetic and energy, earth and universe. The content analysis standard was based on detailed items of 9 definitions according to the 3 principles of UDL presented in CAST (2018). As a result of the study, the strategy network was the largest among the UDL principles. As for the domain of the science curriculum, the kinetic and energy was the most common. As UDL detailed items, informations presentation suitable for learners was most frequent in cognitive network. Various ways of searching for data, was most frequent in strategies network. Diverse materials optimized difficulty of contents was most frequent in affective network.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the university academic achievements on the high school graduates of specialized vocational high school and general high school selected by the university admissions officer system. The implications of this study will contribute to improve development of university admission through the analysis of university admission achievements and correlation between university admission factors and university academic achievements. Participants of this study were university students selected by admission officer system in 2011 and have enrolled in the university for 6 semesters at A university. The results of this study are as follows: First, when it comes to the grades of university admission factors, graduates from specialized vocational high school outperformed those from general high school. Second, when it comes to the correlation between university academic achievements and university admission factors, graduates from specialized vocational high school slightly outperformed those from general high school. Third, when it comes to the correlation between university academic achievements and university academic achievements, graduates from specialized vocational high school showed poorer performance than those from general high school in overall courses and liberal arts courses. However, in major courses, graduates from specialized vocational high school outperformed those from general high school. Finally, when it comes to the development of university academic achievements, both of them showed a tendency of being improved as they advanced through school. Based on the findings of this study, several implications can be made as follows: First, it is necessary to improve the application ratio and application method of university admission factors. Second, it is required to provide preparatory courses of university to help graduates from specialized high school get adapted to university course of study.

This paper proposes a grade prediction method to measure meat quality in Hanwoo (Korean Native Cattle) using classification and feature extraction algorithms. The applied classification algorithm is an AdaBoost and the texture features of the given ultrasound images are extracted using SFTA. In this paper, as an initial phase, we selected ultrasound images of Hanwoo for verifying experimental results; however, we ultimately aimed to develop a diagnostic decision support system for human body scan using ultrasound images. The advantages of using ultrasound images of Hanwoo are: accurate grade prediction without butchery, optimizing shipping and feeding schedule and economic benefits. Researches on grade prediction using biometric data such as ultrasound images have been studied in countries like USA, Japan, and Korea. Studies have been based on accurate prediction method of different images obtained from different machines. However, the prediction accuracy is low. Therefore, we proposed a prediction method of meat quality. From the experimental results compared with that of the real grades, the experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method is superior to the other methods.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify the factors related to the completion status of continuing education and to help develop professional ability by presenting improvement directions. Methods: A questionnaire survey involving 500 dental hygienists working at 155 dental clinics in Gwang-ju was conducted between June 19 and July 29, 2017. Descriptive analysis, chi-square tests, and t-tests were conducted using Statistical Package for Social Sciences Version 21.0 for Windows. Finally, to investigate the factors related to the completion of continuing education, logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: The odds ratio (OR) was higher in the group with more than 16 years of total work carrier (OR=3.40, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.22-9.45) than that in the group with 1-5 years of work carrier. Groups receiving information from associations (OR=5.35, 95% CI=1.74-16.40), groups that directly search for information (OR=6.53, 95% CI=1.84-23.12), and groups receiving information from colleagues (OR=3.55, 95% CI=1.17-10.77) had higher ORs than groups receiving no information. The OR was higher in the group receiving cost support for participation (OR=2.20, 95% CI=1.06-4.55) than the group receiving no support. Regarding total education completion status in 2012-2014, groups that completed grades 1-7 (OR=2.51, 95% CI=1.35-4.64) and those that completed grade 8 or higher (OR=14.37, 95% CI=7.68-26.89) had higher ORs than groups who received no education. Conclusions: The rate of completion of continuing education can be increased by reviewing the course contents, publicity activities, and cost of continuing education.
This study explored the changes in the elementary science teaching expertise of teachers who participated in an in-school professional learning community for elementary science instructional research. Six elementary school teachers from grades 4, 5, and 6 at an 18-class S elementary school in a medium-sized city in Chungcheongbuk-do conducted collaborative instructional research on elementary science lessons as part of an in-school professional learning community, which was held 26 times over 7 months in 2020. During the professional learning community, video and audio recordings of the activities, research lessons, course materials, and professional learning community reflection activities were collected for analysis. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative research methods; data processing, reading, note-taking, description, classification, interpretation, reporting, and visualization; and the instructional professionalism elements were extracted based on the instructional professionalism framework. In the early professional learning community activity stages, the participating teachers first discussed their teaching perspectives, their experiences, and their goals for teaching science, which resulted in a selection of research questions. The teachers then collaboratively designed and implemented research lessons for each grade level, after which lesson reflections were conducted. The teachers' abilities to engage in qualitative reflection on the research questions improved after each reflection iteration. It was found that this professional learning community collaborative lesson study experience positively contributed to teaching expertise development. Based on the study findings, the implications for using professional learning communities to improve elementary teachers' science teaching expertise are given.
