비파괴 철근 부식 진단을 위한 매립형 미니센서 개발에 관한 기초적 연구 (Fundamental Study on Developing Embedded Mini-Sensor for Nondestructive Diagnosis Corrosion of Rebar)

  • 콘크리트 내부에 매설된 철근의 부식은 철근콘크리트구조물의 조기 성능저하와 붕괴의 주요원인이 되고 있다. 철근콘크리트 구조물에 발생하는 열화현상 중에서 철근부식에 의해 발생되는 염해는 그 피해가 다른 열화 현상보다 심하고 구조물의 보수 및 시공 측면에서도 막대한 경비가 요구되고 보수시기 또한 정하기 힘들다. 따라서 철근의 부식상태에 대한 조기발견은 관리자의 효율적인 보수 및 보강계획 수립을 위해 매우 중요하다. 한편 철근 부식을 평가하는 방법 중 비파괴측정이 많이 사용되고 있다. 특히 CM-II(corrosion meter) 측정기는 자연전위와 분극저항 및 콘크리트 비저항을 측정할 수 있어서 많이 사용되지만 몇 가지 단점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위해 매립형 미니센서가 개발되어져 왔다. 이 미니센서를 이용하여 철근 부식을 측정한 후 CM-II(corrosion meter)의 측정결과와 비교분석하여 개발된 미니센서의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Recently it has become general to use the inhibitor with a view to protecting corrosion of rebars in concrete. So, it needs to study effect of protection and reasonable dosage of inhibitor to reduce corrosion of rebar in concrete containing chlorides. In this study, we estimate the corrosion rate of rebar in mortar by Tafel extrapolation method, one of electrochemical techniques, and the reasonable dosage of inhibitor for different chlorides environments.

Symptom-based reliability analyses and performance assessment of corroded reinforced concrete structures

  • Reinforcement corrosion can cause serious safety deterioration to aging concrete structures exposed in aggressive environments. This paper presents an approach for reliability analyses of deteriorating reinforced concrete structures affected by reinforcement corrosion on the basis of the representative symptoms identified during the deterioration process. The concrete cracking growth and rebar bond strength evolution due to reinforcement corrosion are chosen as key symptoms for the performance deterioration of concrete structures. The crack width at concrete cover surface largely depends on the corrosion penetration of rebar due to the expansive rust layer at the bond interface generated by reinforcement corrosion. The bond strength of rebar in the concrete correlates well with concrete crack width and decays steadily with crack width growth. The estimates of cracking development and bond strength deterioration are examined by experimental data available from various sources, and then matched with symptom-based lifetime Weibull model. The symptom reliability and remaining useful life are predicted from the predictive lifetime Weibull model for deteriorating concrete structures. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach for forecasting the performance of concrete structures subject to reinforcement corrosion. The results show that the corrosion rate has significant impact on the reliability associated with serviceability and load bearing capacity of reinforced concrete structures during their service life.

  • During the past decades, the corrosion of the steel rebar embedded in concrete structure surrounding marine environment is actually problematic and required the suitable preventive method. An eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor mix is investigated to stifle the active corrosion in comparison with other commercial corrosion inhibitors. The hybrid inhibitor enhances the corrosion resistance and the workability of concrete. However, it reduces the compressive strength slightly after 28-day-age. The electrochemical studies and mechanical studies are pointed out the corrosion resistance property, corrosion kinetics, and the mechanical properties of all concrete samples. H-3 is the optimum dose of hybrid inhbitor that meets the demand of both electrochemical property and mechanical property. It performs the noble features due to the formation of optimum amount of P-Zwitterions-(Cl)-Fe complex onto the steel rebar surface.

Corrosion Resistance of Cr-Bearing Rebar to Macrocell Corrosion Environment Induced by Localized Carbonation

  • Artificial cracks were made in the cover concrete of specimens embedding ten types of steel rebars of different Cr contents. The research aims for developing Cr-bearing steel rebars resistant to macrocell corrosion environments induced by cracking in cover concrete. The cracks were subjected to intensive penetration of carbon dioxide (carbonation specimens) to form macrocells. The carbonation specimens were then treated with accelerated corrosion curing, during which current macrocell corrosion density was measured. The corrosion area and loss from corrosion were also measured at the end of 105 cycles of this accelerated curing. The results of the study showed that Cr-bearing steel with Cr content of 5% or more suppressed corrosion in a macrocell corrosion environment induced by the differences in the pH values due to carbonation of cracked parts. Cr-bearing steels with Cr content of 7% or more are proven to possess excellent corrosion resistance.

스터럽간격, 철근직경 및 부식률에 따른 인발 실험체의 부착강도 평가 (Evaluation of Bond Strength of Deformed Bars in Pull-out Specimens Depending on Stirrups Spacing, Rebar diameter and Corrosion Rate)

  • 본 연구에서는 스터럽 간격, 철근 직경 및 부식률이 이형철근의 부착강도에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 인발실험이 수행되었다. 스터럽 간격, 철근 직경 및 부식률이 상이한 12개의 인발 실험체를 RILEM RC 6 기준에 따라 제작하였다. 스터럽이 보강된 실험체에 대하여, 부식률이 3% 미만인 경우에는 부착강도가 증가하였으나, 부식률이 3%를 초과한 경우에는 부착강도가 감소하였다. 반면, 스터럽이 보강되지 않은 실험체에 대해서는, 부식률이 증가함에 따라 부착강도가 감소하였다. 스터럽 간격 및 부식률 대비, 철근 직경이 부착강도에 미치는 영향은 적은 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 스터럽 비율 및 부식률을 변수로 사용하는 인발실험체의 부착강도 회귀모형이 제시되었으며, 제안모델은 선행 모델들에 비해 낮은 오차를 나타내었다.

콘크리트 내에서의 Cr강방식철근과 보통강재와의 갈바닉 부식에 관한 연구 (Galvanic Coupling between Carbon Steel and Cr-bearing Rebar in Concrete)

  • The galvanic currents between carbon steel and Cr-bearing rebars have been studied in concrete subjected to carbonation and chloride attack. The results revealed that in case of SD345 contacted with Cr-bearing rebar in concrete under chloride attack environment and carbonation environment, the corrosion acceleration by galvanic corrosion is not generated. Therefore, Cr-bearing rebar can be used together with the carbon steel in the new establishment structure.

  • In this study, the optimum amount of hybrid inhibitors i.e. L-Arginine (LA) and sodium phosphate tribasic dodecahydrate (SP), applied for carbon steel rebar in simulated pore concrete (SCP) solution contaminated with 3.5 wt.% NaCl, was discovered. The corrosion inhibition performance of hybrid inhibitors was investigated by open circuit potential (OCP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and potentiodynamic polarization. The highest corrosion inhibition efficiency was found as 99.52% corresponding to 2% LA and 0.25% SP after 210 h exposure. Anodic type inhibition action was confirmed by potentiodynamic polarization study. Surface studies including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to figure out the surface morphology of the steel rebar treated with hybrid inhibitors in order to collaborate with electrochemical studies.

  • The corrosion problem of rebar is a world wide concern of every engineer engaged in reinforced concrete business, clients, engineers construction contractor and maintenance organizations, all alike. Research and development of new systems, materials, and design concept of rebar corrosion is actively progressing world wide. 철근 부식속도 예측식을 이용한 철근 피복 파괴 시간 추정 (Estimation of Concrete Cover Failure Time Considering the Corrosion Rate in Reinforced Concrete Structures)

  • 본 연구에서는 염해환경에 노출되어 있는 철근콘크리트 구조물의 수명예측에 있어서 철근덮개 파괴시간 예측을 위하여, 유한요소해석을 통한 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 인공세공용액중의 철근 부식속도로부터 콘크리트 중의 철근 부식속도를 유도하는 방법을 제시하였으며, 철근 부식의 분포에 따른 철근덮개의 파괴시간을 비교하여, 철근덮개 파괴시간을 합리적으로 예측하기 위한 방법을 제시하였다. 국부부식을 고려한 경우 균일한 부식을 가정한 경우보다 최대 약 40%정도 철근덮개 파괴시간이 짧아짐을 알 수 있다. 따라서, 철근덮개의 파괴시간 예측을 위한 유한요소해석에 있어서 국부부식을 고려하는 것이 합리적인 결과를 제시할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
