Five phase theory has significant effect on Traditional Chinese Medicine, which puts its emphasis on correlation and integrity. However, the five phase theory itself has a limitation that it cannot reflect the general correlation and special features of affairs. Traditional Chinese Medicine pertains the five organs to five elements, absorbing the essence of the five phase theory, and transcending the limitation of the five phase theory in practice. Therefore, Traditional Chinese Medicine and other traditional medicine theories can be called as "five viscera correlation theory". On the course of modernization of traditional medicine, the effects among the five viscera can be concluded to 3 correlations of promotion, coordination and inhibition, to illustrate the integrity and correlation theory of traditional medicine from different approaches.
Spasticity, an abnormal increase in resting muscle tone, is one of the most common symptoms of stroke, and its management is becoming a major issue in rehabilitation. The aims of this study are to determine the effects of electroacupuncture(EA), TENS and neuromuscular electric stimulation(NMES) on spasticity, as well as the possibility of tissue comliance method as a spasticity scale. 45 stroke patients participated in a study of the effects on hemiplegic spasticity of EA, TENS and NMES. Spasticity was measured by modified Ashworth scale on the upper extremity and tissue compliance measurement, penetration mm/kg, on Susamni(LI10) area at just before and after stimulation, and 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 24 hours after stimulation. The acupuncture points were applied to Kokchi(LI11), Susamni(LI10), Hapkok(LI4) and Oegwan(TE5) of the affected limb. The electrodes were placed unilaterally on LI11 to LI10 and TE5 to LI4. EA with biphasic wave, 60Hz, 0.4 msec pulse duration and low intensity was applied continuously for 20 minutes. TENS with high frequency, low intensity was applied. NMES was applied with spasticity program for 20 minutes. Each electric stimulation was done on extensor muscles group of forearm for 20 minutes. EA and NMES groups were found to produce a statistically significant decrease(p〈0.05) of spasticity and these effects lasted up to 30 minutes after stimulation. There was no definite correlation between the modified Ashworth scale and tissue compliance measurement. But tissure compliance method was found to be possible as a quantitative measurement on spasticity. There was no significant correlation between the effects of EA and NMES and the characteristics of patient, but significant correlation between the effects of EA and NMES and the modified Ashworth scale.
A robust estimator for interpolating spatially distributed regionalized variables is introduced. It reduces outlier effects on ob-taining correlation between spatial lags and the correlation between spatial lags and the corresponding semi-variances and produces a significaantly improved semivariogram com-pared with those of conventional estimators. This estimator is applied to a field experimental data set.
This paper proposes a blind channel estimation scheme for long code direct sequence code division multiple access (DSCDMA) systems with multipath fading channels. This scheme combines the advantages of Toeplitz displacement and correlation matching methods to achieve improved performance. The basic idea is to remove the effects of noise and interferences with Toeplitz displacement operation and then estimate the multi path channel parameters with the correlation matching method. Simulation results are presented to show that the proposed scheme provides better MSE performance and robustness against the near-far problem.
The effects of individual sweating rates on thermophysiological responses during the decrease phase of clothing surface temperature (Tcs) with cotton (C) and polyester (P) clothed subjects were examined. Seven women subjects were exposed in a climatic chamber at ambient temperature of $27.2^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of 50%, and their lower-legs were immersed in a water bath at a temperature of $35-41^{\circ}C$ for 70 min. During water immersion, Tcs in C-clothed subject rose immediately after the onset of sweating and then Tcs fell gradually. In C-clothed subjects, Tcs decreased directly (p<0.05) in proportion to total sweating rate (TSR), however no significant correlation was observed in P-clothed subjects. The relationship between TSR and changes in mean skin temperature, and skin blood flow showed negative correlation when wearing C-clothing (p<0.05), however, no significant correlation when wearing P-clothing. Individual TSR was correlated with threshold rectal temperature for sweating onset (p<0.05) with C- and P-clothed subjects. The results showed that individual TSR had significant effects on not only Tcs but also on thermoregulatory responses during the Tcs decrease phase.
This study was to investigate the moderating effects of the childcare teacher‘s egoresilience on the relationship between their job satisfaction and burnout. The participants were 336 childcare teachers from Chungnam-do and Daejeon Metropolitan City. The research instruments were the Job Satisfaction Scale modified from Bently and Remple 1970), the Ego-resilience Scale from Park(1996) with CPI and CAQ correction, and Maslach Burnout Inventory from Maslash and Jackson(1981). SPSS PC program(17.0) was used for productive correlation, stepwise multiple regression and reliability by Cronbach's as data analysis. The results were as follows. Firstly, the childcare teacher’s job satisfaction and ego-resilience level were above average (M=3.37, 3.58 each), while their burnout level was below average(M=2.57). Secondly, there was a negative correlation between their job satisfaction and burnout(r=-.51), while a positive correlation was between their job satisfaction and ego-resilience(r=.34). Thirdly, the burnout and ego-resilience against job satisfaction explained 28.1%. The optimistic attitude of the childcare teacher‘s ego- resilience was shown to moderate the effects on the relationship between their burnout and job satisfaction.
The objective of this study was to examine the effects of appearance management behaviors on career decision level among female college students. Based on previous studies on appearance management behaviors and career decision level, the items for a questionnaire were developed. For the study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 292 students from women's university in Seoul. Factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS statistics 23. Results of this study are as follows. First, the factor structure of appearance management behavior had three factors: 'fashion & hair,' 'skin & plastic surgery,' and 'body shape.' The reliability and validity of the factor structure were proved. Second, a significant correlation was found between sub-factors in appearance management behaviors. Career decision level showed a significant correlation only with body management factor. Third, the appearance management behavior of female college students was found to have a partially significant effect on career decision level. For higher grade students, fashion & hair factor and body shape factor had positive effects on career decision level. For lower grade students, body shape factor had a positive effect on career decision level while skin & plastic surgery factor had a negative effect on career decision level. Therefore, to increase career decision level, managing appearance through keeping fit body shape is crucial. This study also suggests that as one elevates to a higher grade, the importance of management and keeping interest toward fashion is important.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to recognize menstrual pattern, stress, digestive disorder of female college students who have oligomenorrhea and effects of Gamiguibi-tang. Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the mediating effect of nutritional status in the relationship between symptom experience and functional status among in patients with lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: Subject (N=139) were lung cancer patients visiting the D hospital in B city. Data collection was conducted from May 2016 to February 2017. Seven nutritional status measurement tools, 22 symptom experience tools, and 15 EORTC QLQ-C30 functional scales were used to measure nutritional, symptom, and functional levels. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS / WIN 21.0 using descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation, 3-step regression analysis of Baron and Kenny, and Sobel test. Results: There was a significant positive correlation between symptom experience and nutritional status, a significant negative correlation between symptom experience and functional status, and significant negative correlation between nutritional status and functional status. Symptom experience had direct effect and indirect effects on functional status through nutritional status. Conclusion: For enhancing functional status in lung cancer patients, it is necessary to develop nursing intervention programs to palliate symptoms and improve nutritional status.
This study investigated the relationship of clothing microclimate and physiological responses in order to examine the layering effects on the clothing microclimate as an index to predict clothing thermal insulation ($I_{cl}$). Experiments were conducted in a $15^{\circ}C$ environment on six physically active males. Increased clothing layers resulted in higher mean temperature inside the clothing ($\bar{T}_{cl}$) and $I_{cl}$. The $I_{cl}$ had a high correlation with: $\bar{T}_{cl}$ (r = 0.556), the difference between the innermost surface temperature and the outermost surface temperature at the chest (DST) (r = 0.549) and the temperature inside clothing at the abdomen (r = 0.478). $\bar{T}_{cl}$ had the highest correlation with the temperature inside clothing at the abdomen (r = 0.889). $\bar{T}_{cl}$ also had the highest correlation with $\bar{T}_{sk}$ (r = 0.860). The results showed that the relationship between $I_{cl}$ and $\bar{T}_{cl}$ was linear (p < .01). Thermal comfort had a negative correlation with $\bar{T}_{cl-thigh}$ (r=-0.411) and $\bar{T}_{cl}$ (r = -0.323) (p < .01.)
