  • In the present paper the problem of monotonically compressed concrete columns is studied numerically, accounting for transverse steel reinforcement and concrete cracking. The positive confinement effect of the ties on the core concrete is modeled explicitly and studied in the case of distributed or concentrated vertical load. The main aim is to investigate the influence of transverse reinforcement steel characteristics on the column load carrying capacity and ductility, in order to provide an evaluation about some standards requirements about the class and ductility of steel to be used for ties. The obtained results show that the influence of transverse reinforcement steel class of ductility is negligible both on the column load carrying capacity and on its ductility. Also the dissipated energy is basically unchanged. In view of these evidences, some standards requirements about the steel class of ductility to be used for ties appear to be rather questionable.

  • The actual quality of the concrete in the structure for Irrigation may differ from that represented by the cylinders because the age, consolidation, or curing of the in-place material may not be well represented by the standard test specimens. The objective of this paper is to offer a base data of specification is the best fit the ready-mixed concrete strength to the specified, and to address this deficiency, so that the strength information of the concrete in the structure for Irrigation can be rationally accounted for in the assessment of the quality condition of this. The strength of concrete in the hydraulic structures is checked using strength of core obtained from that, and 28-day-old cylinder strength is analyzed using cylinder data of the ready-mixed concrete.

  • Concrete filled FRP tube has lately attracted attention as the member that can substitute the conventional reinforced concrete. Glass fiber and carbon fiber are some of available materials for FRP tube. Carbon tube is filament wound with specified winding angle to meet the appropriate capacity demands. Confinement effect of carbon tube is varied according to winding angle. In this study, a total 4 of large scale circular specimens of 30cm diameter and 60cm height is tested. To estimate the effect of winding angle and thickness of carbon tube on the increased confined compressive strength, the test tube are wound with $\pm45^{\circ}\;and\;\pm30^{\circ}$ with two types of thickness, 2mm and 3mm, respectively. It is shown that effectively increased confined strength and ductility are observed from the specimens with $\pm45^{\circ}$ winding angle than $\pm30^{\circ}$ winding angle. Increasing thickness is not as effective as adjusting winding angle for the confinement of concrete core.

  • The study is compared temperature history and strength of concrete followed by covering method of insulation curing of cold weather concrete with double bubble sheet. The results were as follows. First of all, in temperature history of concrete, the internal temperature of concrete fell down to $0^{\circ}C$ before/after 60 hours, having nothing to do with covering method. The study could see that, when sheet was isolated, it fell down to low temperature quickly in early curing. When the study measured compressive strength of core specimen, there were no large differences among placing methods. However, compressive strength fell down in all ages when sheet was isolated.

  • The purpose of this paper is to offer a base data of specification, so that the strength information of concrete in the structure for irrigation can be rationally determined the coefficient of variation of an existing irrigation structure and the best fit the ready-mixed concrete strength to specified strength $f_ck$. From analysis of concrete cylinders from about 30 numbers in southern Korea, it was concluded that the coefficient of variation of cylinder strength were approximately 5.9%. On the basis of the core strength test data, it was appeared that the average coefficient of variation for the existing irrigation structure can be taken as 17.8% for strength level 21MPa.

  • Concrete-filled double skin steel tube (CFDST) beam-columns are widely used in industrial plants, subways, high-rise buildings and arch bridges. The CFDST columns have the same advantages as traditional CFT members. Moreover, they have lighter weight, higher bending stiffness, better cyclic performance, and have higher fire resistance capacities than their CFT counterparts. The scope of this study is to develop finite element models that can predict accepted capacities of double skin concrete-filled tube columns under the combined effect of axial and bending actions. The analysis results were studied to determine the distribution of stresses among the different components and the effect of the concrete core on the outer and inner steel tube. The developed models are first verified against the available experimental data. Accordingly, an extensive parametric study was performed considering different key factors including load eccentricity, slenderness ratio, concrete compressive strength, and steel tube yield strength. The results of the performed parametric study are intended to supplement the experimental research and examine the accuracy of the available design formulas.

  • In the design of concrete filled composite columns, it is assumed that the load transfer between the steel tube and concrete core has to be achieved by the natural bond. However, it is important to investigate the mechanisms of shear transfer due to the possibility of steel-concrete interface separation. This paper deals with the contribution of headed stud bolt shear connectors and angles to improve the shear resistance of the steel-concrete interface using push-out tests. In order to determine the influence of the shear connectors, altogether three specimens of concrete filled composite column were tested: one without mechanical shear connectors, one with four stud bolt shear connectors and one with four angles. The experimental results showed the mechanisms of shear transfer and also the contribution of the angles and stud bolts to the shear resistance and the force transfer capacity.

  • Hydraulic structures have been constructed with low cost concrete so as to increase the investment efficiency. As the construction of agricultural irrigation and drainage project is concentrated on off-farming season and come to construction less than 28-day strength in quality control. As we are aware the major thrust construction of short period is now in hydraulic structures rather then the large- scale. This paper will propose the relationship between the 7-day and 28-day compressive strength of concrete be investigated. Test will be carried out on nine different concrete mixes and 180 core drilled form the hydraulic structures with 7-day and 28-day compressive strengths ranging approximately from 24 to 30Mpa.

  • When concrete was hardened, it should had considered a crack to make internal stress by hydration heat. For control of crack, admixture was use to change cement because hydration heat was effect to cement. High strength mass concrete had much hydration heat with high volume of cement. It was necessary to reduce hydration heat in construction method. In this study, it evaluates hydration heat, compressive strength of transfer concrete girder regard to field construction type such as separation, whole etc. Also, we test compressive strength of concrete with core and mold specimen.

  • Recently, the deteriorations of RC bridge decks on express-way are frequently observed. The major cause of deterioration for the RC concrete bridge decks exposed to de-icing chemiclas would be chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion. Therefore, Waterproofing is necessary for improvement of bridge deck durability and comfortable utility. In this study is to investigate the appearance of deterioration and properties of concrete core from the collect in a bridge deck. The results of this study shows that penetration waterproofing agents shows low infiltration depth and low water-repellent. It appears that the damaging of concrete deck is primarily waterproofing system rather than physical property.
