This study developed career education program applying cooperative learning structures (Kagan, 1993, 1995, 1997), and tested its effect on elementary school children's career development. Sixth grade students of 2 classes were divided into experimental and control group, and 14 sessions of the program were applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks. Career development test(Lee, 2005) were performed before and after the program. Students in both groups were retested 3 months after the post-test to test continuing effects of the program. Score tendencies and their differences between experimental group and control group of children in 3 career development areas - self-awareness, educational and occupational exploration, and career planing - were tested and the results are as follows: development of 3 areas of self-awareness, educational and occupational exploration, and career planing were consistently increasing along the experimental sequence in experimental group, while the development of 3 areas showed no changes or declining tendencies in control group. Self-awareness and educational and occupational exploration did not show the statistically significant differences between the groups. Meanwhile, the career plaining showed statistically significant difference between the groups in post-test, meaning that the career education program with cooperative structure has positive effects on the career planing in 6th grade students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the JigsawⅣ cooperative learning in a facilitative communication class of nursing students. Achievement, communication skill, self-directed learning and experience during the class were measured. Method: This study was a pretest and posttest design with two subject groups. 43 students were in experimental (JigsawⅣ) group and 47 ones were in control (general small discussion) group. Classes were conducted over a 6-week period. The collected data was analyzed by the SPSS 12.0 program. Result: After taking part in the educational program, the experimental group had significantly more improvement in communication skill (F=6.81, p=.002) and self-directed learning (F=11.81, p=.000). In addition, the experimental group showed significantly higher scores for concentration in the class (t=2.26, p=.27), positive emotional state (t=3.01, p=.003) and active participation (t=2.78, p=.007) compared to the control group. However, the achievement between the two groups was not significantly different (F=3.29, p=.073). Conclusion: The findings of this study show that JigsawⅣ cooperative learning has positive effects in improvement of communication skill and self-directed learning. Also, students were excited and interested in the class during cooperative learning. Based on these findings, the author suggests developing additional educational programs focusing on nursing students.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of elementary school students' knowledge and information processing competence and collaborative problem-solving ability in scientific inquiry class using data measured with digital inquiry tools. To this end, three classes of 5th grade elementary schools in S-city, Gyeongnam were selected as experimental groups and three classes as control groups. The control group conducted traditional lecture-style classes, and the experimental group conducted scientific inquiry classes using scientific data. The following results were obtained through questionnaires after class. First, science inquiry classes using scientific data helped elementary school students improve their knowledge and information processing competence. Second, scientific inquiry classes using scientific data improved elementary school students' cooperative problem-solving ability. From the above results, it was found that scientific inquiry classes using scientific data are needed to improve the knowledge information processing competence and cooperative problem solving ability of elementary school students. Based on this research, it is necessary to study a specific teaching and learning environment that can activate scientific inquiry class using data measured with digital inquiry tools in the future.

The purpose of this study is to understand the field experience of collaboration classes for Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and to obtain implications for MIL collaboration classes. To this end, focus group interviews (FGI) were conducted with 11 teachers and 9 students from 5 elementary and secondary schools. The research results are as follows. First, collaboration classes were not commonly operated in educational settings. Second, teachers and students who experienced collaboration classes were found to increase students' class participation. Fourth, despite their satisfaction with collaboration classes, teachers reported that the number of class hours increased or they felt burdened by class preparation. Since the achievement and satisfaction of teachers and students in MIL collaborative classes were high, it is necessary to develop a MIL collaborative class model and guidelines to expand MIL collaborative classes.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learner-centered methods of sex education. Methods: This study was carried out on 5th grade elementary school students in D-district. Nine classes were divided into 3 groups using each different teaching methods: group A (a cooperative learning), group B (a lecture) and group C (a control group for a comparison). The study period was from Oct. 17 to Dec. 2 in 2011. Both groups A and B received sex education lessons for 40 minutes for 4 weeks and were tested their sex knowledge and attitude to compare the differences. Results: The scores of sex knowledge for all three groups were increased and their sex attitude was increased as well. The points of sex knowledge between pre and post test in group A are greater than the group B's. Thus, the cooperative learning approach with Group A was more effective to improve student's sex knowledge. But the difference between the sex attitude scores was not statistically significant. Group A and B showed a positive improvement in both their sex knowledge and attitudes compared with the control group. Conclusion: This experiment shows that an active teaching methods is more effective to improve student sex knowledge than a passive approach. Thus, a cooperative learning method results in increases of both student's sex knowledge and interests in learning sex education. It needs to develop more diverse teaching methods and programs on sex education that are more systematic and tailored.

This study is to find out that the effect of science class applied Jigsaw cooperative learning to study achievement and Creative personality. The class section of this study is 5th grade 1 semester of science 2 chapters, 'the solar system and the stars' This study has been aimed at 2 class 40 students of 5th grade in D metropolitan city G elementary school in 2015, one class 20 students are the research group to apply science class using a Jigsaw cooperative learning techniques, another class 20 students were comparison groups to apply general science classes. Research result and conclusion obtained through the discussion are as follows. First, science class using Jigsaw cooperative learning technique was not effective. Even though the science class with jigsaw cooperation education could not achieve the beneficial academic achievement, which is the cognition factor, when it comes to precedent study, the definition factors such as teamwork, consideration and readership show great effects. Second, science class using Jigsaw cooperative learning technique was effective in cultivating creative personality. This can be interpreted that the science class applied the jigsaw cooperation study help the creativity development. Third, after the science class applied jigsaw cooperation study, the students' perceptions also have changed in positive way. They were tend to care each other and cooperate with others. That means the class is good way to cultivate collective intelligence, which is a virtue of community.

This study developed smart education programs on clothing in Home Economics education for middle school students and assessed the validity of the programs. To create a self-directed adaptive learning model, 'Textile fibers' was selected as a topic. A digital textbook was developed to provide an adaptive learning experience to each student. The students can learn the contents of the digital textbook via their smart phones or tablet PCs in their Home Economics classes. To create a cooperative learning model for a good communication, 'Recycling clothes' was selected as a topic. Students can cooperate to solve the problems via Google docs and facebook in their Home Economics classes. The programs gained more than 4.5 on a 5-point Likert scale. The results of the assessment indicated that the smart education programs on clothing are appropriate to enhancing the self-directed learning, communication, and cooperation competencies of the students in Home Economics classes.

A school library is an institution that supports the school's educational objectives through various educational activities based on information resources, and teachers' perception is essential to connect resources and users. However, most studies have been conducted based on the self-perception of teacher librarians. This study aims to understand the effect of teachers' experience of library programs and cooperative classes with the school library on their perception of the school library roles and librarian teachers' professionalism. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 78 teachers at eight national and public high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and the results were statistically analyzed using factor analysis and regression. As a result, it was found that the teachers' experiences affect their perception of the school library's roles, especially informational, educational, and cultural roles. Also, the teachers' experiences affect their perception of librarian teachers' educational support and library expertise. Based on the results, considerations in school library programs and cooperative classes were suggested to improve teachers' perception of the school library roles and librarian teachers' professionalism.
In this study, we investigated the effects of grouping with respect to the level of students' agreeableness on 6th graders' science achievement, self-efficacy, and science learning motivation in cooperative learning. Three classes (72 students) from an elementary school were randomly assigned to a control group and treatment groups. An agreeableness test, self-efficacy test, and science learning motivation test were administered as pretests. The students of the treatment groups were grouped either homogeneously or heterogeneously on the basis of their agreeableness levels and were taught with a cooperative learning strategy, whereas the students of the control group were randomly grouped and were taught with a traditional method. The cooperative learning intervention lasted for 5 weeks (16 class periods). After the instructions, tests regarding achievement, self-efficacy, and science learning motivation were administered as posttests. The results indicated that the students of the homogeneous and/or the heterogeneous groups significantly outperformed those of the control group in the achievement test. However, students' achievement was not influenced by the grouping method on the basis of students' agreeableness. No significantly differences among the groups were found in the self-efficacy and science learning motivation.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of group co-learning on English reading ability and motivation and the change in group co-learning perception after planning and applying a group co-study class program that can be applied in university liberal arts English class. In order to achieve this goal, the experiment team (34 students) conducted the class from September 2 to December 13, 2019 for 62 freshmen who participated in the compulsory liberal arts English class at the four-year university in North Chungcheong Province, and the control team (28 students) conducted the class as a typical lecture class based on the basis of cooperative learning. The English proficiency of the learners was approached by dividing the area of academic proficiency into English reading skills and the area of justice into English reading motivations. The pre-experimental learners' English reading skills were measured by excerpting the national level educational achievement assessment (high 2). The research results are as follows. First, it was shown that the English reading ability score of a group that applied group cooperative learning and the English reading ability score of a group that did not apply group cooperative learning were statistically significant differences. Second, there was a difference between the English reading motivation score of the group applying the convocation group cooperative learning and the English reading motivation score of the group not applied. Third, the change in the perception of groups applying the convocation group cooperative learning occurred before and after the experiment. This study found that the awareness of English reading, English reading motivation, and cooperative learning increased through cooperative learning among university students during liberal arts English classes, which has a positive effect on self-identity and so on.
