Modeling of Received Radar Signals for Scan Pattern Analysis (스캔패턴 분석을 위한 레이더 수신신호 모델링)

  • In dense electronic warfare signal environments, the conventional radar identification methods based on the basic parameters such as frequency, pulse width, and pulse repetition interval are confronted by the problem of identification ambiguity. To overcome this critical problem, a new approach introducing scan pattern of radars has been presented. Researches on new identification methods, however, suffer from a practical problem that it is not easy to secure the many radar signals including various scan pattern information and operation parameters. This paper presents a modeling method of radar signals with which we can generate radar signals including various scan pattern types according to the parameters determining the variation pattern of received signal strength. In addition, with the radar signals generated by the proposed model we analyze their characteristics according to the location of an electronic warfare support (ES) system.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Diuretic Renal Scan on Functional and Pathologic Obstructive Uropathy (Diuretic renal scan을 이용(利用)한 폐쇄성(閉鎖性) 요로병변(尿路病變)의 진단(診斷)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • Diuretic renal scan, a modified method of conventional radionuclide renography by administration of intravenous furosemide was performed in 54 patients with suspected urinary tract obstruction. Two showed normal responses, 41 showed increased washout patterns, and the remainder 15 revealed no changes in response to the furosemide administration. IVP was done in 34 patients. In comparision to the diuretic renal scan, the following results were obtained. 1) Patients with normal results by the scan, showed normal IVP findings also. 2) 10 patients who showed delayed excretory patterns not influenced by the diuretics administration. 9 patients revealed obstructive lesions and hydronephrotic changes, and CPN was diagnosed for the remainder one and the one patient without obstruction was diagnosed as chronic pyelonephritis. 3) 22 patients showed positive results to the diuretics. Among them 10 patients had positive results in IVP. but, were not related to the speed of decrement of the renal activity after the furosemide administration.

Dimensional Quality Assessment of Steel H-Beams Using Terrestrial Laser Scan Data

  • In the construction industry, steel structures are prominent due to their exceptional strength and high bearing capacity, making them resilient against natural calamities. However, the stability and overall structural integrity of these steel structures depend significantly on the precision of the individual steel members used. Presently, the dimensions of these steel members are typically measured manually using mechanical instruments such as steel tape and vernier calipers. This conventional approach is not only time-consuming but also highly vulnerable to human error. Consequently, there is a growing need for more accurate and reliable methods for assessing the dimensions of steel members. This paper aims to measure the dimensions of key checklists of the cross-section surface of the steel H-beams using Terrestrial Laser Scan (TLS) data. This study involves the automatic extraction of scan points associated with the cross-section surface of the H-beam members using RANSAC. By the end, an algorithm was developed to predict the actual edge points belonging to the boundary of the extracted surface and introduced an edge loss compensation model to compensate the losses occurred due to uncertainties. Experimental evaluations were conducted using various scan data collected from steel H-beam and the measured dimensions were subsequently compared with manual measurements and dimensions obtained through the previously proposed method, demonstrating that the measurements meet 1mm accuracy and are within the allowable tolerance range followed in industry. This research underscores the efficiency and reliability of the introduced approach, offering a promising solution to enhance the dimensional quality assessment of steel H-beams in the construction industry.

  • Micro-stereolithography is a newly proposed technology as a means that can fabricate a 3D micro-structure of free form. It makes a 3D micro-structure by dividing the shape into many slices of relevant thickness along horizontal surfaces, hardening each layer of slice with a focused laser beam, and stacking them up to a desired shape. In this technology, differently from the conventional stereolithography, scale effect is dominant. To realize micro-stereolithography technology, we developed the micro-stereolithography apparatus which is composed of an Ar+ laser, x-y-z stages. controllers. optical devices and scan path generation software. Related processes were developed, too. Using the system, a number of micro-structures were successfully fabricated. Some of these samples are shown for prove this system. Laser scan path generation algorithm and software considering photopolymer solidification phenomena as well as given 3D model were developed. Sample fabrication of developed software shows relatively high dimensional accuracy compared to the uncompensated result.

  • In this study, a new methodology by using the X-ray CT scan is proposed for estimating void ratio of very fine clayey soil. Since the particle size of the clay is too fine to calculate the volume of void inside the clays, CT scanning tests with a number of clay specimens that were artificially set to have various designated void ratios have been carried out. From the tests, a relationship between the CT values and void ratios is given to be used for estimating the invisible void ratio of very fine clay from a representative CT value scanned. The linear relationship was able to be acquired finally. It is expected that micro X-ray CT scanning can be capable of capturing the void ratio of very fine soils without any errors inherent in the conventional specific gravity tests.

  • We introduce an x-ray micro tomography system capable of high resolution imaging of a local region inside a small animal. By combining two kinds of projection data, one from a full field-of-view (FOV) scan of the whole body and the other from a limited FOV scan of the region of interest, we have obtained zoomed-in images of the region of interest without any contrast a nomalies. We have integrated a micro tomography system using a micro-focus x-ray source, a $1248\times1248$ flat-panel x-ray detector, and a precision scan mechanism. Using the cross-sectional images taken with the zoom-in micro tomography system, we measured trabecular thicknesses of femur bones in postmortem rats. To compensate the limited spatial resolution in the zoom-in micro tomography images, we used the fuzzy distance transform for the calculation of the trabecular thickness. To validate the trabecular thickness measurement with the zoom-in micro tomography images, we compared the measurement results with the ones obtained from the conventional micro tomography images of the extracted bone samples.

A Study on Design of Visual Sensor Using Scanning Beam for Shape Recognition of Weld Joint. (용접접합부의 형상계측을 위한 주사형 시각센서의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • A visual sensor consisted of polygonal mirror, laser, and CCD camera was proposed to measure the distance to the weld joint for recognizing the joint shape. To scan the laser beam of the sensor onto an object, 8-facet polygonal mirror was used as the rotating mirror. By locating the laser and the camera at axi-symmetrical positions around the mirror, the synchronized-scan condition could be satisfied even when the mirror was set to rotate through one direction continuously, which could remove the inertia effect of the conventional oscillating-mirror methods. The mathematical modelling of the proposed sensor with the optical triangulation method made it possible to derive the relation between the position of an image on the camera and the one of a laser light on the object. Through the geometrical simulation of the proposed sensor with the principal of reflection and virtual image, the optical path of a laser light could be predicted. The position and direction of the CCD camera were determined based on the Scheimpflug's condition to fit the focus of any image reflected from an object within the field of view. The results of modelling and simulation revealed that the proposed visual sensor could be used to recognize the weld joint and its vicinity located within the range of the field of view and the resolution.   • Delay testing is essential for assurance of digital circuits as the speed and the density of the circuits improve greatly. However, delay faults in sequential circuits cannot be detected easily due to the existence of state registers. To overcome this difficulty a new test method and algorithm are devised which can be used for both stuck-at testing and delay testing. To apply the new test method, a new scan flip-flop is implemented. Experimental results on ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits show that the number of testable paths can be increased drastically over conventional scan techniques.

  • In this paper, OMR system based on image processing is developed which improve the performance of conventional OMR system based on line-scan method. Based on this OMR system, real-time OCR system which recognizes alphanumerics is also developed. We propose the OMCR system which recognize the mark and numerals at the same time. Besides, we improve the input system using constrained 7-segment type handwritten numeral instead of mark to solve the problem caused by miswriting the mark. In summary, we verified the reai-time recognition performance of developed OMCR system using application form for admission, answer sheet for college entrance examination and receipt sheet.
