  • 수직발사 추진기관의 추력방향조종(TVC)용으로 사용되는 제트베인 조립체의 열전달 특성을 고찰하기 위해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 제트베인 주위의 대류열전달계수는 열경계층 방정식의 해와 반실험식을 사용하여 구하였다. 제트베인 조립체의 3차원 온도분포에 대한 해석은 PATRAN과 ABAQUS 소프트웨어를 사용하여 수행되었다. 본 수치해석 기법의 타당성은 제트베인 축 내부에서 측정한 온도와 열해석 결과의 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 제트베인의 3개 편향각(0o, 12.5o, 25o)에 대해 연소시간별 제트베인의 온도변화를 고찰하였다.

  • Numerical investigations were conducted to study the convective phenomena of an initially stably stratified salt water solution with lateral heating in a uniformly rotating annulus. The method of investigation is the finite difference analysis of the basic conservation equation for an axisymmetric, unsteady, double-diffusive convection and calculation is made for R $a_{\eta}$=2*10$^{5}$ and Ta=10$^{7}$ ~ 2.5*10$^{8}$ . Formation of layered flow structure, merging process of layers, the corresponding temperature and concentration distributions, Nu variation with time are examined. Numerical results show that in each layer, the temperature profile looks 'S'-shaped and the concentration profile is uniform due to the convective mixing. At the interface between adjacent layers, the temperature changes smoothly but the concentration changes rapidly. As the effect of the rotation increases, the generation of rolls at hot wall, the formation and merging of layers are delayed. The average Nu shows the trend of conduction heat transferees the effect of the rotation increases.n increases.

  • The aim of the work presented in this paper is development of numerical model for prediction of temperature distribution in pavement according to the measured meteorological parameters, with introduction of non-linear heat transfer coefficient which is a function of temerature difference between the air and the pavement. Developed model calculates heat radiated from the pavement back in the air, which is an important part of the heat trasfer process in the open air surfaces. Temperature of the pavement surface, heat radiation together with many meteorological parameters were measured in series during two years in order to validate the model and calibrate model parameters. Special finite element method for temperature heat transfer towards the soil together with the time integration scheme are used to solve the governing equation. It is proved that non-linear heat transfer coefficient, which is a function of time and temperature difference between the air and the pavement, is required to decribe this phenomena. Proposed model includes heat tranfer coefficient callibration for specific climate region, through the iterative inverse procedure.

  • 최근 들어 preferential flow같은 현장조건의 불균질한 매질을 이동하는 지하수 거동해석에 이류 분산 방정식을 적용하는데 많은 문제점들이 제기되어 왔다. 이에 따라 Kim 등(2005)은 최소한의 모형인자로 preferential flow 경로를 통한 토양지하수의 흐름을 예측할 수 있는 간단한 모형을 개발한 바 있다. Kim 등(2005)이 제시한 Generalized Preferential Flow Model(GPFM)은 토양을 표층주변의 분배 층(distribution layer)과 그 밑의 운반구역(conveyance zone)으로 나누어 거동을 예측하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 GPFM을 간단히 소개하고 기존의 다른 실험결과에 적용한 후 이류분산방정식(CDM)과의 비교를 통해 모형을 검증해 보고자 하였다. 기존에 발표된 두 개의 실험값에 GPFM을 적용해본 결과, GPFM은 세 가지 인자-유효함수비, 유속, 분산계수-를 입력하여 silty 및 sandy loam 토양 내 추적자의 파과곡선을 잘 예측하였다. CDM을 이용한 예측 값과 비교한 결과 GPFM과 CDM 모두 실제 관측된 파과곡선과 일치된 경향을 보였으나, GPFM에 의해 추측된 인자들이 더 현실적으로 가능한 값을 나타내었다. 인용된 두 실험값에 GPFM을 적용할 경우 예측 값에 가장 영향을 끼친 인자는 유효함수비로 나타났는데, 이는 Kim 등(2005)이 같은 종류의 토양에서 유속이 GPFM의 결과에 가장 영향을 끼쳤다고 보고한 것에 비해, 다른 성질의 토양에서는 유효 함수비가 가장 결정적인 인자임을 보여준다. 본 연구를 통해 GPFM이 이용하기가 쉽고 여러 가지 현장조건에 적용성이 높아 preferential flow 경로를 통한 토양지하수의 흐름을 예측할 수 있는 유용한 도구임을 확인하였다.

  • Two-dimensional, unsteady, incompressible and compressible Navier-Stokes codes are developed for the computation of the viscous turbulent flow over high-lift airfoils. The compressible code involves a conventional upwind-differenced scheme for the convective terms and LU-SGS scheme for temporal integration. The incompressible code with pseudo-compressibility method also adopts the same schemes as the compressible code. Three two-equation turbulence models are evaluated by computing the flow over single and multi-element airfoils. The compressible and incompressible codes are validated by predicting the flow around the RAE 2822 transonic airfoil and the NACA 4412 airfoil, respectively. In addition, both the incompressible and compressible code are used to compute the flow over the NLR 7301 airfoil with flap to study the compressible effect near the high-loaded leading edge. The grid systems are efficiently generated using Chimera overlapping grid scheme. Overall, the κ-ω SST model shows closer agreement with experiment results, especially in the prediction of adverse pressure gradient region on the suction surfaces of high-lift airfoils.

PREDICTION OF FREE SURFACE FLOW ON CONTAINMENT FLOOR USING A SHALLOW WATER EQUATION SOLVER

  • A calculation model is developed to predict the transient free surface flow on the containment floor following a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) of pressurized water reactors (PWR) for the use of debris transport evaluation. The model solves the two-dimensional Shallow Water Equation (SWE) using a finite volume method (FVM) with unstructured triangular meshes. The numerical scheme is based on a fully explicit predictor-corrector method to achieve a fast-running capability and numerical accuracy. The Harten-Lax-van Leer (HLL) scheme is used to reserve a shock-capturing capability in determining the convective flux term at the cell interface where the dry-to-wet changing proceeds. An experiment simulating a sudden break of a water reservoir with L-shape open channel is calculated for validation of the present model. It is shown that the present model agrees well with the experiment data, thus it can be justified for the free surface flow with accuracy. From the calculation of flow field over the simplified containment floor of APR1400, the important phenomena of free surface flow including propagations and interactions of waves generated by local water level distribution and reflection with a solid wall are found and the transient flow rates entering the Holdup Volume Tank (HVT) are obtained within a practical computational resource.

  • The two-dimensional incompressible and compressible Navier-Stokes codes are developed for the computation of the viscous turbulent flow over high-lift airfoils. Incompressible code using pseudo-compressibility and dual-time stepping method involves a conventional upwind differencing scheme for the convective terms and LU-SGS scheme for time integration. Compressible code also adopts an FDS scheme and LU-SGS scheme. Several two-equation turbulence models (the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model, the $k-{\omega}$ model. and $k-{\omega}$ SST model) are evaluated by computing the flow over single and multi-element airfoils. The compressible and incompressible codes are validated by computing the flow around the transonic RAE2822 airfoil and the NACA4412 airfoil, respectively. Both the results show a good agreement with experimental surface pressure coefficients and velocity profiles in the boundary layers. Also, the GA(W)-1 single airfoil and the NLR7301 airfoil with a flap are computed using the two-equation turbulence models. The grid systems around two- and three-element airfoil are efficiently generated using Chimera grid scheme, one of the overlapping grid generation methods.

NUCLIDE SEPARATION MODELING THROUGH REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANES IN RADIOACTIVE LIQUID WASTE

  • The aim of this work is to investigate the transport mechanism of radioactive nuclides through the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane and to estimate its effectiveness for nuclide separation from radioactive liquid waste. An analytical model is developed to simulate the RO separation, and a series of experiments are set up to confirm its estimated separation behavior. The model is based on the extended Nernst-Plank equation, which handles the convective flux, diffusive flux, and electromigration flux under electroneutrality and zero electric current conditions. The distribution coefficient which arises due to ion interactions with the membrane material and the electric potential jump at the membrane interface are included as boundary conditions in solving the equation. A high Peclet approximation is adopted to simplify the calculation, but the effect of concentration polarization is included for a more accurate prediction of separation. Cobalt and cesium are specifically selected for the experiments in order to check the separation mechanism from liquid waste composed of various radioactive nuclides and nonradioactive substances, and the results are compared with the estimated cobalt and cesium rejections of the RO membrane using the model. Experimental and calculated results are shown to be in excellent agreement. The proposed model will be very useful for the prediction of separation behavior of various radioactive nuclides by the RO membrane.

측풍영향을 고려한 고속전철 주위의 비압축성 점성 유동 해석 (Incompressible Viscous Flow Analysis around a High-Speed Train Including Cross-Wind Effects)

  • The flow field around a high-speed train including cross-wind effects has been simulated. This study solves 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the inertial frame using the iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives, 3th-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms and 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme for the viscous terms. The Marker-and-Cell concept was applied to efficiently solve continuity equation, which is differenced with 2nd-order accurate central difference scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A C-H type of elliptic grid system is generated around a high-speed train including ground. The Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model was implemented to simulate the turbulent flows. To validate the present procedure, the flow around a high speed train at constant yaw angle of $45^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$ has been simulated. The simulation shows 3-D vortex generation in the lee corner. The flow separation is also observed around the rear of the train. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

  • The jet pump is being used in many fields for several purposes because of its simple construction and easy operation. The characteristics of the geometrical variables, pressure gradient and velocity distribution of the jet pump are studied using the CFD technique. The flow calculations through a bended nozzle. a mixing chamber and a venturi are presented and phenomenological aspects are discussed. This study solve 3-D steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using the Iterative time marching scheme. The governing equations are differenced with 1st-order accurate backward difference scheme for the time derivatives and 3rd-order accurate QUICK scheme for the convective terms. The Mark-and-cell concept was applied efficiently to solve continuity equation, which is differenced 2nd-order accurate central differenced scheme. The 4th-order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A O-type of grid system is generated inside a nozzle and venturi of the jet pump. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.
