  • In this paper, we proposed to improve performance of the design of a cascade controller with the smith-predictor structure. The parameters of controller in the inner loop are determined to minimize the integral of time multiplied by the absolute value of error (ITAE) value of performance Index. The controller of outer loop and parameters of Smith-Predictor can be obtain using reduction model. The model reduction is considered that it is the transient response and the steady-state response through the use of nyquist curve. Simulation examples are given to show the better performance of the proposed method than conventional methods.

  • A $H_{\infty}$self-tuning control scheme for the tip position of a flexible link robot handling unknown loads is presented here. The scheme essentially comprises a recursive least-squares identification algorithm and $H_{\infty}$self-tunning controller. The $H_{\infty}$control low is designed to be robust to uncertain parameters and the self-tunning action provides adaption to unknown parameters. Through numerical study, the performance comparison of the $H_{\infty}$self-tuning controller with a constant gain $H_{\infty}$controller as well as a LQG self-tuning controller clearly shows its superior ability in handling load changes in quiescent states.nt states.

  • This work proposes a controller tuning method of a Hyundai 8608 robot in order to improve its performance. For this, we analyzed the control structure of the robot, and the functions of all the adjustable parameters in the robot controller with a reference 'NACHI Technical Report'. Through the analysis, we found out that 3 important parameters(VRRL, VRF, VRGIN) act like a conventional PID gains and other parameters are closely related to these 3 parameters. Conclusively, parameter tuning of these 3 parameters is enough in most cases of applications with other parameters fixed. The conventional PID tuning is performed to each joint of the test robot with Robot Performance Evaluation System(shown in our companion paper) so that the acceptable gain ranges for each joint are determined and then the robot performance tests are repeatedly done with the combination of the acceptable gains. Finally, the best combination is selected for its best performance. For the effectiveness of the proposed method, it was implemented on a Hyundai 8608 robot and its results are compared with the results of NACHI's Semi-Auto Tuning Method and the results which are done by a tuning expert with his eyes.

  • This paper presents the design method of controller which is combined Genetic Algorithms with the Generalized minimum variance self tuning controller. It is shown that the controllers adapts to changes in the system parameters with time delays and noises. The self tuning effect is achieved through the recursive least square algorithm at the parameter estimation stage and also through the Robbins-Monro algorithm at the stage of optimizing a polynomial parameters. The computer simulation results are presented to illustrate the procedure and to show the performance of the control system.

  • The parameters of PID controller should be readjusted whenever system character change. In spite of a rapid development of control theory, this work needs much time and effort of expert. In this paper, to resolve this defect, after the sample of parameters in the changeable limits of system character is obtained, these parametrs are used as desired values of back propagation learning algorithm, also neural network auto tuner for PID controller is proposed by determing the optimum structure of neural network. Simulation results demonstrate that auto-tuning proper to system character can work well.

  • In this paper a new adaptive control algorithm is derived, with the unknown manipulator and payload parameters being estimated online. In practice, we may simplify the algorithm by not explicity estimating all unknown parameters. Further, the controller must be robust to residual time-varying disturbance, such as striction or torque ripple. Also, the reference model is a simple douple integrator and the acceleration input for robot manipulator consists of a proportion and derivative controller for trajectory tracking purposes. The validity of this control is confirmed in simulation where two-link robot manipulator shows the robust performances in spite of the existing nonlinear interaction and unknown parametrictings

  • In this paper, Proposed the robust controller for robot manipulator plus actuator with dynamic parameter uncertainties. In general, errors and uncertainties system parameters exist more or less between the actual system and mathematical model. To reduce these trems, used Lyapunov stability theorem. The performance of the controller is evaluated for the three degree of freedom robot manipulator plus actuator model with uncertainties of parameters and model errors.

  • This paper proposes a method to select the overshoot design parameters of the LQ-PID controller by using convex optimization in order to satisfy the design specifications. The tuning parameters of LQ-PID controller are determinated by the relationships between the design parameter to control both the overshoot and the settling time and the weighting factors Q and R in LQR.

  • This paper proposes an indirect adaptive fuzzy controller for general SISO nonlinear systems. No a priori information on bounding constants of uncertainties including reconstruction errors and optimal fuzzy parameters is needed. The control law and the update laws for fuzzy rule structure and estimates of fuzzy parameters and bounding constants are determined so that the Lyapunov stability of the whole closed loop system is guaranteed. The computer simulation results for an inverted pendulum system show the performance of the proposed robust adaptive fuzzy controller.

  • In this paper, the Monte-Carlo method was applied to the controller robustness evaluation problems with respect to the uncertainty of critical plant parameters. The plant studied is a aerial vehicle. The-variable parameters are nondimensional stability derivatives, inertias. The nominal nondimensional stability derivatives ,were obtained from wind tunnel test. Also the nominal inertia parameters were calculated from the mass distribution along the vehicle axes. But the parameters obtained from the test or calculations are at best probable and always contain some uncertainties which one can not figure out. So some kinds of robustness evaluation method should be applied. The parametric robustness of the designed classical controller evaluated by the method turned out to be satisfactory.
