Optimal Control Policy for Replacements Involving Two Machines and One Repairman

  • There has been a great deal of research dealing with the optimal replacement of stochastically deteriorating equipment and research in queueing systems with a finite calling population. However. there has been a lack of research which combines these two areas to deal with optimal replacement for a fixed number of machines and a limited number of repairmen. In this research, an optimal control policy for replacement involving two machines and one repairman is developed by investigating a class of age replacement policies in the context of controlling a G/M/1 queueing system with a finite calling population. The control policy to be imposed on this problem is an age-dependent control policy, described by the control limit $t^{\ast}$. The control limit is operational only when the repairman is idle; that is. if both machines are working, as soon as a machine reaches the age $t^{\ast}$ it is taken out of service for replacememt. We obtain the ${\epsilon}$-optimal control age which will minimize the long-run average system cost. An algorithm is developed that is applicable to general failure time distributions and cost functions. The algorithm does not require the condition of unimodality for implementation.

  • Purpose: The main theme of this study is to determine the optimal control limit of conditional variance investigation by mathematical approach. According to the determination approach of control limit presented in this study, it is possible with only one parameter to calculate the control limit necessary for budgeting control system or standard costing system, in which the limit could not be set in advance, that's why it has the advantage of high practical application. Methods: This study followed the analytical methodology in terms of the decision model of information economics, Bayesian probability theory and Taguchi's quality loss function concept. Results: The function suggested by this study is as follows; ${\delta}{\leq}\frac{3}{2}(k+1)+\frac{2}{\frac{3}{2}(k+1)+\sqrt{\{\frac{3}{2}(k+1)\}^2}+4$ Conclusion: The results of this study will be able to contribute not only in practice of variance investigation requiring in the standard costing and budgeting system, but also in all fields dealing with variance investigation differences, for example, intangible services quality control that are difficult to specify tolerances (control limit) unlike tangible product, and internal information system audits where materiality standards cannot be specified unlike external accounting audits.

  • This paper combines research in the areas of replacement and machine interference. Although over the past three decades there has been a great deal of research in the area of optimal replacement for stochastically deteriorating equipment and research dealing with machine interference problems : there has been a lack of research when these two areas are combined. However, the melding of these two well-known areas yields a very practical problem which demands theoretical investigation. In this paper we derive the steady state probabilities with a control limit policy for a two-machine one repairman problem. The control policy is a simple age dependent control described by the control limit, $t^{*}$. Once $t^{*}$ is fixed, the steady state probabilites that one, two, and no machines are working will be obtained.

  • Robot's throwing control is difficult to accurately calculate because of air resistance and rotational inertia, etc. This complexity can be solved by using machine learning. Reinforcement learning using reward function puts limit on adapting to new environment for robots. Therefore, this paper applied deep reinforcement learning using neural network without reward function. Throwing is evaluated as a success or failure. AI network learns by taking the target position and control policy as input and yielding the evaluation as output. Then, the task is carried out by predicting the success probability according to the target location and control policy and searching the policy with the highest probability. Repeating this task can result in performance improvements as data accumulates. And this model can even predict tasks that were not previously attempted which means it is an universally applicable learning model for any new environment. According to the data results from 520 experiments, this learning model guarantees 75% success rate.

  • 기존의 접근제어 모델들은 유비쿼터스 환경의 접근제어를 위하여 필요한 시간 제약에 따른 자원의 사용 제한 기능, 역할 계층에서 상위 역할로의 제한적 상속 기능, 정교한 위임 정책, 사용자의 위치에 따른 자원의 사용 제한 기능을 제공하지 않는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 시간(기간과 주기)에 따른 제약으로 자원의 사용을 제한할 수 있는 GTRBAC 모델에 부역할 개념과 PBDM 개념을 적용하고 사용자의 위치정보를 임시 제약 조건으로 고려하여 유비쿼터스 환경의 접근제어에 적합한 확장된 GTRBAC모델을 제안한다. 제안 모델은 부역할을 사용하여 역할 계층에서 권한의 상속을 제한할 수 있고, 사용자 대 사용자 위임, 역할 대 역할 위임, 다단계 위임, 다중 위임과 같은 정교한 위임 정책을 제공하며, 사용자의 위치 정보를 임시 제약 조건으로 고려하여 유비쿼터스 환경의 특성에 맞는 다양하고 정교한 접근제어 정책을 적용할 수 있도록 한다.

An Optimal Operating Policy for Two-stage Flow Lines with Machine Failures

  • Automatic transfer defined as an integrated system with a number of workstations, interstation storage buffers, automatic device and a control system, play a major role in ass production systems. Due to high capital investment needed for an automatic transferline, greater care should be taken in its design so as to maximize the system performance. One may to control the system performance is to control buffer storage. To control the interstation work-in-process inventory, we propose dual limit switches which control the buffer storage with two parameters, R and r. Under the policy, proceding station is forced down when the inventory level in the buffer reaches R until the level falls to r. For the model developed, we analyze the system characteristics and find the optimal control parameters with a serach procedure.

  • For an Information System to be successful the continual control of the database system(DBS) is very important. In general, such control operations are performed periodically in batches, even in real time systems. We explain DBS related such control operations and describe the decision problem in each of them. Specifically, backup, checkpointing, reorganization, and batch update operations are considered. Then we develop a general model of the batch backup situation to determine the optimal backup timing. Other operations are considered as special cases of the general batch backup operation are derived and compared. We show that, in general, the control limit policy is superior to the fixed time interval policy in terms of the long-run average cost per unit time. Some practical considerations about the implementation of optimal policies are also mentioned.

수량 할인과 예산 제약을 고려한 재고관리 정책에 관한 연구 (A Study on Inventory Control Policy for Quantity-Discount and Budget Constraint)

  • As order quantity is increased, the ordering cost per item will be cheaper due to saving of transportation and material handling costs. In this paper, two realistic assumptions such as quantity discount and budget limit are considered. Quantity discount means that all units in the order will be discounted according to the predetermined order levels. Budget limit represents that the costs for inventory investments are bounded. This paper develops a Lagrangian relaxation approach for a continuous review inventory model with a budget constraint and quantity discounts. Computational results indicate that the proposed approach provides a good solution. Sensitivity analysis is done to get some insights on budget limit and quantity discount. As budget limit or the amount of discount according to order quantity is increased, order quantity is increased, whereas reorder point is not always increased.

  • 현재까지 시스템의 보안을 위한 방법으로 다양한 접근제어 정책을 적용한 보안 커널들과 파일을 암호화하는 방법들이 연구되어 왔다. 보안 커널은 ACL, MAC, RBAC 등과 같은 접근제어 정책의 적용으로 시스템 내의 데이터에 대한 불법적인 접근을 효율적으로 통제 할 수 있는 방법을 제공할 수 있다. 하지만, 백업 매체나 디스크 자체의 도난에 대해서는 해당 매체 내에 저장되어 있는 데이터의 보호가 불가능하다. 접근제어 정책과는 별도로 파일을 암호화하여 저장하는 암호화 파일시스템에 대한 연구가 많아 소개되었지만, 접근제어 정책을 이용하여 상호 연동되는 구조를 제안한 사례는 거의 없다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 접근제어 정책을 가지는 보안 커널 내의 가상 파일시스템 수준에서 암호화 기능을 수행함으로써 사용자에 대해 투명성을 제공하는 암호화 파일시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 암호화 파일시스템은 접근제어 정책 중 MAC의 보안등급(class)에 기반한 암호키를 이용하기 때문에 비교적 간단한 암호키 관리 구조를 제공하고, 접근제어 정책 만을 적용할 때 존재할 수 있는 물리적 데이터 보안의 한계를 극복할 수 있다.

  • Facilities are getting more automated and informative in modern manufacturing systems, especially in semiconductor and LCD plants. These systems keep a great deal of such information on its current and near-future status as the arrival time and job completion time of their parts. This paper presents an efficient policy for AGV and part routing using information on the future status of the system where AGVs are playing a central role for material handling. Efficient control of AGVs is very important because AGV systems often become the bottleneck and limit the total production capacity of a very expensive plant. The cell controller records the future events chronologically in Next Event Schedule, and uses this list to determine to which place the AGVs and parts to be sent.
