  • This paper describes a determining method of weighting factors for two-point interpolation filters. The interpolation filters is implemented by applying modifying functions to the linear interpolation. Here, there is a problem of determining weights when modifying functions being engaged. The previous method determined the weights by imposing c1-continuity on the interpolation kernels. However, this approach is unable to use the property of individual modifying functions. In this paper, on the basis of spectral analyses of the modifying functions and image signals, we provide a determination method by experimental results. Thus, many experiments are carried out to do so. The results indicate that different weights are required for different modifying functions and also the proposed method outperforms than the previous method.

  • A new technology on video frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) is presented by combining the median filter and motion estimation (ME) with an occlusion detection (OD) method. First, ME is performed to have a motion vector. Then, the OD method is used to refine motion vector in the occlusion region. Since the wrong motion vector can be obtained with high possibility in the occluded area, a median filtering that less depends on the motion vector is applied to that area, and since the motion vector is continuous and robust in the non-occluded area, BDMC(Bi-Directional Motion Compensated interpolation) is applied to obtain interpolated image in that area. BDMC using the bi-directional motion vectors achieves good results when continuity and robustness of the motion vector is higher. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better performance than the conventional approach. The average gain of PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) is approximately 0.16 dB in the test sequences compared with BDMC.

  • The current rural conditions are undergoing the change from the past production-intensive structure to an integral and complex one of producing, processing, selling, touring and lodging owing to the changes of life-style, consumption trend and social environments. The rural area is developing into a community of rural tourism villages to grow into one management system along with the assistance of the government's various supporting projects. Through this, the rural designing has got to play a significant role as one of the factors of the enhancement of competitiveness and the increase of income. Therefore, those previous studies on the variety and possibility of rural development are being employed for the researches which are to develop techniques of branding, marketing and packaging. In particular, the researches for VI (Village Identity), BI (Brand Identity) and designs of landscaping, packaging of agricultural specialties and display stores, which definitely shows that the importance of rural designing, is being paid a lot more attention to. Thus, this study has verified the site commercialization and its effect by developing some practical designing with the focus of package design at rural tourism villages. The Okgye Village in Yoncheon was selected for study subject based on the result of status investigation. This study has analyzed such problems as lack of village identity, non-description of items and their indispensible marks which were seen their designs of village and packaging. The colors of major items and the village image being substituted into the image scale of IRI color were estimated so that the appropriate colors might be selected, along with which the shapes of major items were decided to be motif for the village symbol and design to be created. The designs of such major items as grains, greens and sauces were created with the consideration of the easiness of loading, the continuity of using and the aesthetics. For grains, those outer boxes which are possible for set-packaging and small-sized packaging have been developed. For greens were developed the boxes with the structure of the permeability for the persisten't quality as well as the possibility for packaging small amount. In case of sauces, those outer-boxes equipped with fixing tray were made with the transport-convenience taken into consideration. The sticker-label designs for all those three were also developed which stand for the village identity and are conveniently used in each farm family. When this development was applied at the sites, it was found that the satisfaction and reliability of consumers as well as the satisfaction of farmers were raised along with the increase by more than 30% after the improvement.

  • Objective: We aimed to compare the aortic valve area (AVA) calculated using fast high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance (MR) image acquisition with that of the conventional two-dimensional (2D) cine MR technique. Materials and Methods: We included 139 consecutive patients (mean age ± standard deviation [SD], 68.5 ± 9.4 years) with aortic valvular stenosis (AS) and 21 asymptomatic controls (52.3 ± 14.2 years). High-resolution T2-prepared 3D steady-state free precession (SSFP) images (2.0 mm slice thickness, 10 contiguous slices) for 3D planimetry (3DP) were acquired with a single breath hold during mid-systole. 2D SSFP cine MR images (6.0 mm slice thickness) for 2D planimetry (2DP) were also obtained at three aortic valve levels. The calculations for the effective AVA based on the MR images were compared with the transthoracic echocardiographic (TTE) measurements using the continuity equation. Results: The mean AVA ± SD derived by 3DP, 2DP, and TTE in the AS group were 0.81 ± 0.26 cm2, 0.82 ± 0.34 cm2, and 0.80 ± 0.26 cm2, respectively (p = 0.366). The intra-observer agreement was higher for 3DP than 2DP in one observer: intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.95 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.94-0.97) and 0.87 (95% CI, 0.82-0.91), respectively, for observer 1 and 0.97 (95% CI, 0.96-0.98) and 0.98 (95% CI, 0.97-0.99), respectively, for observer 2. Inter-observer agreement was similar between 3DP and 2DP, with the ICC of 0.92 (95% CI, 0.89-0.94) and 0.91 (95% CI, 0.88-0.93), respectively. 3DP-derived AVA showed a slightly higher agreement with AVA measured by TTE than the 2DP-derived AVA, with the ICC of 0.87 (95% CI, 0.82-0.91) vs. 0.85 (95% CI, 0.79-0.89). Conclusion: High-resolution 3D MR image acquisition, with single-breath-hold SSFP sequences, gave AVA measurement with low observer variability that correlated highly with those obtained by TTE.

  • Owing to the abnormal weather conditions due to global warming, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology has attracted global attention as a countermeasure to reduce CO2 emissions. In the Pohang CCS demonstration project in South Korea, 100 tons of CO2 were successfully injected into the subsurface CO2 storage in early 2017. However, after the 2017 Pohang earthquake, the Pohang CCS demonstration project was suspended due to an increase in social concerns about the safety of the CCS project. In this study, to reconfirm the structural suitability of the CO2 storage site in the Pohang Basin, we employed seismic imaging based on reverse-time migration (RTM) to analyze small-scale ocean-bottom seismic data, which have not been utilized in previous studies. Compared with seismic images using marine streamer data, the continuity of subsurface layers in the RTM image using the ocean-bottom seismic data is improved. Based on the obtained subsurface image, we discuss the structural suitability of the Pohang CO2 storage site.

  • As damages to individuals, private sectors, and businesses increase due to newly occurring cyber attacks, the underlying network security problem has emerged as a major problem in computer systems. Therefore, NIDS using machine learning and deep learning is being studied to improve the limitations that occur in the existing Network Intrusion Detection System. In this study, a deep learning-based NIDS model study is conducted using the Convolution Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. For the image classification-based CNN algorithm learning, a discrete algorithm for continuity variables was added in the preprocessing stage used previously, and the predicted variables were expressed in a linear relationship and converted into easy-to-interpret data. Finally, the network packet processed through the above process is mapped to a square matrix structure and converted into a pixel image. For the performance evaluation of the proposed model, NSL-KDD, a representative network packet data, was used, and accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score were used as performance indicators. As a result of the experiment, the proposed model showed the highest performance with an accuracy of 85%, and the harmonic mean (F1-Score) of the R2L class with a small number of training samples was 71%, showing very good performance compared to other models.

  • Chirp sub-bottom profilers (SBP) data are comparatively higher-resolution data than other seismic data and it's raw signal can be used as a final section after conducting basic filtering. However, Chirp SBP signal has possibility to include various noise in high-frequency band and to provide the distorted image for the complex geological structure in time domain. This study aims at the goal to establish the workflow of Chirp SBP data processing for enhanced image and to analyze the proper parameters for the domestic continental shelf. After pre-processing, we include the dynamic S/N filtering to eliminate the high-frequency component noise, the dip scan stack to enhance the continuity of reflection events and finally the post-stack depth migration to correct the distorted structure on the time domain sections. We demonstrated our workflow on the data acquired by domestically widely used equipments and then we could obtain the improved seismic sections of depth domain. This workflow seems to provide the proper seismic section to interpretation when applied to data processing of Chirp SBP that are largely used for domestic acquisition.
