The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress distribution in mandibular second premolars restored with different post and core techniques. Sixteen two-dimensional finite element model of mandibular second premolars restored with post and core and complete crown were developed according to the diameter, length, and material of post and core. Vertical force, 10N in magnitude, was applied first to the central fossa and then $45^{\circ}$ oblique force of same magnitude was applied to the buccal contact surface of buccal cusp. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Stress distribution within the dentin 1) Regardless of the material of the post and core and the diameter and length of the post, the pattern of stress distribution within the dentin was similar. 2) Maximum dentinal stress was observed on the lingual root surface of alveolar crest level with oblique loading and on lingual side of root dentin at the crown margin on vertical loading. 3) Cast post and cores produced the lowest dentinal stress concentrations and the highest stress concentration was observed in composite resin post and cores. 2. Stress distribution within the post and core 1) Within the amalgam and composite resin post and core, the patterns and maximum values of stress were similar. Maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion on vertical loading and at the lingual junction of post and core with oblique loading. 2) Among the all post and cores, the cast post and core registered the highest stress concentration and maximum stress value within the post. Maximum stress located at the post apex on vertical loading and at lingual half of the post surface with oblique loading. 3) In case of Para-post and amalgam core, maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion and lingual tip of the post head on vertical loading. With oblique loading, maximum stress located at the lingual half of the post surface.

These days, workers in a construction site conduct a rebar bending process with a machine. This bending process has some problems such as long processing time and bad quality of the rebar. In order to manufacture a rebar having precision and machinability, we should study on Spring-back phenomenon. This phenomenon affects a shape of rebar after unloading due to restoration ability of material and it is influenced by bending angle, bending radius and a rebar diameter. The change of spring-back ratio according to the change of the parameters are analyzed by FEM. Consequently, Spring-back increases around $0.1^{\circ}$ as bending angle increases $10^{\circ}$. and it also increases around $0.6^{\circ}$ as diameter of rebar increases from ${\varphi}$ 10mm to ${\varphi}$ 16mm. while we can confirm that it decreases around $0.2^{\circ}$ as bending angle increases $10^{\circ}$.

The experimental study on the shape and behavior of bubbles in U-tube deep shaft of 32m has been performed. According to the results in this paper, the equivalent spherical diameter of bubbles was 0.422-0.722cm and the shape of bubbles was almost ellipsoidal for bubbles to be generated ta single-orifice of diameter 0.06cm in the downcomer of the deep shaft system. Gas hold-up and gas-liquid contact area of bubbles in the deep shaft was decreased in accordance with depth, Also downcomer velocity of bubbles was slower than circulation velocity of liquid and riser velocity of bubbles was fast than circulation velocity. The bubble-size-distribution of bubbles in the deep shaft was the logarithmic probability distribution. The number of bubbles in the deep shaft was decreased in accordance with depth and the number of bubbles in the downcomer is more than the bubbles in the riser.
PURPOSES : In this research, the initiation and development of corrugation on a gravel road with certain wheel and boundary conditions were evaluated using a coupled discrete-element method (DEM) with multibody dynamics (MBD). METHODS : In this study, 665,534 particles with a 4-mm diameter were generated and compacted to build a circular roadbed track, with a depth and width of 42 mm and 50 mm, respectively. A single wheel with a 100-mm diameter, 40-mm width, and 0.157-kg mass was considered for the track. The single wheel was set to run slowly on the track with a speed of 2.5 rad/s so that the corrugation was gradually initiated and developed without losing contact between the wheel and the roadbed. Then, the shape of the track surface was monitored, and the movement of the particles in the roadbed was tracked at certain wheel-pass numbers to evaluate the overall corrugation initiation and development mechanism. RESULTS : Two types of corrugation, long wave-length and short wave-length, were observed in the circular track. It seems that the long wave-length corrugation was developed by the longitudinal movement of surface particles in the entire track, while the short wave-length corrugation was developed by shear deformation in a local section. Properties such as particle coefficients, track bulk density, and wheel mass, have significant effects on the initiation and development of long-wave corrugation. CONCLUSIONS : It was concluded that the coupled numerical method applied in this research could be effectively used to simulate the corrugation of a gravel road and to understand the mechanism that initiates and develops corrugation. To derive a comprehensive conclusion for the corrugation development under various conditions, the driver's acceleration and deceleration with various particle gradations and wheel-configuration models should be considered in the simulation.
In order to develop COG (Chip On Glass) technology for LCD module interconnecting the driver IC to Al pad electrode on the glass substrate, Anisotropic Conductive Adhesive(ACA) process, the most promising one among COG technologies, was investigated. ACA process was carried out by two steps, dispensing of ACA resin in the bonding area and curing by W radiation. Load on the chip was ranged from 2.0 to 15kg and the chip was heated at about 12$0^{\circ}C$. In resin, the density of conductive particles coated with Au or Ni at the surface were 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 particles/$\textrm{mm}^2$, and the diameter of particles were 5, 7 and 12${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of the experiments, ACA process using ACA particle of diameter and density of 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 4000 particles/$\textrm{mm}^2$ respectively shows optimum characteristic with the stabilzed bonding properties and contact resistance.

The currently considered pyrotechnic separation nut is separated through the complicated process, because it has many internal moving parts and two variable-volume chambers connected by the vent hole. Therefore, it has many design parameters. Some of these are the contact angles between internal moving parts, the masses of the internal moving parts, the inner diameter of the push rod protrusion, the initial volumes of the chambers, the mass of the explosive charge, and the diameter of the vent hole. To improve the pyrotechnic separation nut, it is necessary to understand how the behavior of the separation nut is changed according to design parameters. In this point of view, parametric studies are carried out using the previously proposed prediction model for pyrotechnic separation nut behaviors. In each case, the parameter of the interest is changed while the others are kept unchanged. From the results, it is investigated how each design parameter influences the separation behavior.
Muscle spindle afferents from masseter muscle were labelled by the intra-axonal HRP injection and were processed for light microscopic reconstruction. Regions containing terminal arbors scattered in the central portion of the masseteric motor neuron pool (type I a) and those restricted to 2-3 small portion of it (type II) were selected and processed for electronmicroscopic analysis with serial sections. The shape of the labelled boutons was dome or elongated shape. Scalloped or glomerulus shape with peripherial indentation containing pre or postsynaptic neuronal propiles, which is occasionally found in the trigeminal main sensory nucleus and spinal dorsal horn, was not observed. Both type Ia and type II boutons had pale axoplasm and contained clear, spherical vesicles of uniform size(dia : 49-52nm) and occasionally large dense cored vesicles(dia : 87-118nm). The synaptic vesicles were evenly distributed throughout the boutons although there was a slight tendency of vesicles to accumulate at the presynaptic site. The average of short and long diameter(short D. + long D./2) of type I a bouton was smaller than that of type II bouton. All the labelled boutons, which showed prominent postsynaptic density, large synaptic area and multiple synaptic contact, made asymmetrical synaptic contact with postsynaptic neuronal propiles. Most of the type Ia and type II boutons made synaptic contact with only one neuronal propile and boutons which shows synaptic contact or more neuronal propiles was not observed. Most of the type Ia boutons(87.2%) were presynaptic to the soma or proximal dendrite and a few remainder(12.8%) made synaptic contact with dendritic shaft or distal dendrite. In contrast, majority of type II boutons showed synaptic contact with dendritic shaft and remainder with soma or proximal dendrite. In conclusion, terminal boutons which participate in the excitatory monosynaptic jaw jerk reflex made synaptic contact with more proximal region of the neuron, and showed very simple synaptic connection, compared with those from the primary afferenst in the other region of the central nervous system such as spinal dorsal horn and trigeminal main sensory nucleus which assumed to be responsible for the mediating pain, tactile sensation, sensory processing or sensory discrimination.

Slip coefficient, whose value is dependent on the condition of contact surface at the friction joint of high tension bolt, is determined by slip load. Because contact area affects slip load, contact area that varies with bolt hole size is also related to the slip coefficient. In this study, we manufactured 32 specimens and performed bending and tension tests in order to examine changes in slip coefficient and load with material type, bolt diameter, and size of bolt hole. Slip load of specimens with oversize bolt hole had strength that was more than 80% higher than the slip load of specimens with standard bolt hole, and it also exceeded the design slip strength. In addition, we observed significant correlation between net-section ratio and slip ratio of specimens with oversize and standard bolt hole. However, some differences between the specimens are thought to have been caused by reduction in initial axial force of high tension bolt, which is an important parameter of slip coefficient. It is self-evident that increased bolt hole size would lead to decrease in design strength as it reduces both slip coefficient and bolt axial force. Nevertheless, we suggest that some flexibility in regulation of bolt hole, as long as it does not threaten the structural stability, may be a positive factor in terms of workability and efficiency.
In order to obtain the basic data concerning the optimal lasing conditions in using Nd:YAG laser as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum, the author selected 36 human teeth having no cervical abrasion and caries (; 12 anteriors, 12 premolars. 12 molars) extracted due to periodontal diseases, and divided them into 4 groups as Group I, II, III and IV (; each group of 3 anteriors, 3 premolars, 3 molars), and prepared a cementum specimen with thickness of $1.0mm{\pm}0.2mm$ sectioned longitudinally at the middle of mesio-distal thickness (; Group I) or horizontally at 1mm-2mm below the cemento-enamel junction (; Group II, III, IV) from each tooth of each group by low speed diamond wheel saw, and treated them with 0.5 M ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (; EDTA, pH=7.4) for 2 minutes for elimination of remnants during tooth-sectioning. And the author applied the laser energy from a fiberoptic delivered, free running, pulsed Nd:YAG laser (; wavelength 1064nm. pulse duration $120{\mu}sec$, fiber diameter $320{{\mu}m}$) to cementum surfaces in triplicates of one experiment under the following lasing conditions: 1. stationary mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces without air-spray (; Group I )/with air-spray (; Group II), 2. unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec without air-spray (; Group III)/with air-spray (; Group IV), 3. energy per pulse (mJ/pulse) [; energy density ($J/cm^{2}$)] in order of 1.0W/10Hz (100J/pulse); $124J/cm^{2}$, 0.5W/10Hz (50mJ/pulse); $62J/cm^{2}$, 0.4W/10Hz (40mJ/pulse); $50J/cm^{2}$, 0.3W/10Hz (30mJ/pulse); $37J/cm^{2}$, 4. exposure time of 1 second. And the author applied the platinum coating on surfaces of cementum specimens, and evaluated the characteristics of ultrastructural change on surfaces of cementum using the scanning electron microscopy. In general the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the same lasing condition of laser energy density occurred least in specimens of Group IV. And especially, the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the laser energy density of $37J/cm^{2}$ almost did not occur in specimens of Group IV. Therefore, it is considered that the pulsed Nd:YAG laser should be applied with the lasing conditions of unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec with air-spray and of laser energy density within $37J/cm^{2}$ as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum.

Compared to the flip-chip process using solder bumps, Cu pillar bump technology can accomplish much finer pitch without compromising stand-off height. Flip-chip process with Cu pillar bumps can also be utilized in radio-frequency packages where large gap between a chip and a substrate as well as fine pitch interconnection is required. In this study, Cu pillars with and without Sn caps were electrodeposited and flip-chip-bonded together to form the Cu-Sn-Cu sandwiched joints. Contact resistances and die shear forces of the Cu-Sn-Cu sandwiched joints were evaluated with variation of the height of the Sn cap electrodeposited on the Cu pillar bump. The Cu-Sn-Cu sandwiched joints, formed with Cu pillar bumps of $25-{\mu}m$ diameter and $20-{\mu}m$ height, exhibited the gap distance of $44{\mu}m$ between the chip and the substrate and the average contact resistance of $14\;m{\Omega}$/bump without depending on the Sn cap height between 10 to $25\;{\mu}m$.
