A Study on the Limit of Submerged Flow in Side Channel Spilway (측수로 여수토의 체류한계에 관한 연구)

  • Side channel spillways based on Hinds theory were tested. Surface water level at the beginning point of side channel is the same as the crest level of weir in the usual design. Here, side channel section were moved upwards $\frac{1}{2}$ of the total head on the crest and test(revised experiment) were made. In the revised experiments, coefficients of discharge for design flood (Q) were the same with that of original design experiments. In case of 1.2Q a little influence of submergence were appeared, coefficients of discharge were decreased to be about 97.6% of that of original design experiments, therefore, Reservoir flood water level become higher about 2-3cm than original case. So revised design can be used for actual purpose and it will brings much savings in construction cost of side channel spillway.

Design of a Multi-level VHDL Simulator (다층 레벨 VHDL 시뮬레이터의 설계)

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of SVSIM (Sogang VHDL SIMulator), a multi-level VHDL simulator, designed for the construction of an integrated VGDL design environment. The internal model of SVSIM is the hierarchical C/DFG which is extended from C/DFG to include the network hierarchy and local/glabal control informations. Hierarchical network is not flattened for simulation, resulting in the reduction of space complexity. The predufined/user-defined types except for the record type and the predefined/user-defined attributes are supported in SVSIM. Algorithmic-level descriptions can be siumlated by the support of recursive procedure/function calls. Input stimuli can be generated by command script in stimuli file or in VHDL source code. Experimential results show SVSIM can be efficiently used for the simulation of the pure behavioral descriptions, structural descriptions or mixture of these.

  • This paper presents the construction status and the conceptual designs of midium and high level radioactive waste disposal facilities from all around world. For the midium radioactive waste, a shallow disposal using trench or a deep depth disposal are adopted. However, these are rather focusing on the social and cultural point of view than the technical. Meanwhile, the high level radioactive waste is basically disposed in the deep underground. The corresponding ground conditions are usually dense and composed of sedimentary and crystalline rocks mainly with low permeability. A barrier system is made of canister which consists of copper, titanium, and tin. The inner and outer side of the canister are composed of different materials respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic information on the rural house planning through the research on the use of the standard plans, architectural characteristics, importance of the planning points and housing satisfaction of the residents. 25 rural households scattered around Chungchong provinces-south and north- were surveyed for this study through the questionnaire method. The results of this study were as follows. The importance considered first was the low construction costs, and therefore the standard plans were not fully acknowledged and commonly used. Most real plans are the single-floor houses with 3 rooms, having 25-30 pyong magnitude. The planning points stressed highly were the storage space, convenience of the plan and size of the living room. Housing satisfaction level was high on direction of the facade, size of the living room and position of the bath/washing room, but low for the storage space.

  • An accurate estimation of water level variation when thewaves propagate to the coastal regionis very important for the port and harbor development plan. This study describes the application of a hybrid element model to harbor oscillation problem due to the construction of shore structure and implementation of shore boundary. The site selected is Pusan Harbor area with the third development and the Artificial Island plan. The observed water level changes at the site are compared with the result of the numerical experiment. The model gives a very important prediction of water level changes for navigation and harbor design.

Design of an efficient algorithm for the detection of untestable paths in multi-level circuits (다단 회로에서 테스트 불가능한 경로 검출을 위한 효율적인 알고리듬의 설계)

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of an efficient algorithm for detecting untestable paths in multi-level circuits. Transforming multi-level circuit into a multiplexor-based one through BDD(binary decision diagram)construction, the proposed algorithm detects untestable paths in the transformed circuits. By constructing ENF (equivalent normal form) only for reconvergent paths, the proposed system detects and removes untestable paths efficiently in terms of the run-time and memory usage. Experimental results for MCNC/ISCAS benchmark circuits show that the system efficiently detects and removes untestable paths. The run-time and memory usage have been reduced by 37.7% and 60/9%, respectively, comapred to the previous methods.

Monitoring of Cleanliness Level in Hydraulic Systems: Obtaining Reliable On-Line data

  • Monitoring of system cleanliness levels and counting of particulate contaminant are fundamental to achieving hydraulic system reliability as any departure from the specified cleanliness level is often a precursor to future failures. On-line monitoring of cleanliness levels has the advantage of giving data both very quickly and accurately as environmental influences are eliminated. In this way, corrective actions can be promptly implemented. Most on-line instruments are sensitive to system conditions to a greater or lesser extent, but Automatic Particle Counters (APCs) working on light extinction principles are especially sensitive to the presence of optical interfaces caused by such conditions as fluid mixtures, emulsions, free water and air bubbles. These conditions give erroneous data and can result in drawing incorrect conclusions, wasting maintenance time and ultimately, reduced user confidence in cleanliness monitoring. This paper describes such conditions and shows how the correct selection of the analysis technique can result in reliable cleanliness level data.

Rock of Fragmentation with Plasma Blasting Method (프라즈마장비의 발파공법)

  • Rock fragmentation with plasma blasting technique has advantageous properties in contrast to the conventional blasting method in controlling of flying rocks and ground vibrations when residents are complaining or surrounding structures stay in protection from blasting operations. The experiences show in urban construction works that the plasma blasting is the most possible method to prevent damages and minimize adverse environmental impacts. The fragmentation energy level is evaluated by numerical simulation using PFC for various drill hole pattern and tested accordingly to get the feasibility. The energy output of plasma blasting system has been improved to a level of 1 MJ, which can break a $2-3m^3$ granite boulder or 1.5m height bench face. Measurements are carried out to get the ground vibration level and propagation equation. So that the control of the blasting operations can be performed more precisely and safely.

A Study of Developing the Low Noise Circular Saw Blade (저소음 목재용 회전톱날의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • To reduce the noise from wood cutting saw at the saw mill(lumber mill) or a construction area, some multi-layer sandwich saw blades which a aluminum or copper plate was inserted between the two steel plates were developed and were tested of the wood cutting noise level at various test places. From the research, it was found that the multi-layer saw blade with copper or aluminum plate between steel plates and spot welded 60 points could reduce the wood cutting sound level about 8.3 dB(97.031 dB - 88.743 dB) at indoor test and 3.8 dB(84.805 - 81.638 dB) at field test.

Construction of Total Information Portal Service for Korea Urban Regeneration

  • In this study, the total information portal service for urban regeneration was constructed to supply comprehensive information for Korean urban regeneration. The portal service is largely divided into an information analysis service for urban regeneration and an information disclosure service. For total information portal service, the information analysis service constructed a system for making district level decline diagnosis and city and county level potential analysis. Moreover, it can construct and control analyzed information specified at the district level. The information disclosure service consists of functions capable of recycling information, interworking the analysis service and facilitating expert participation. It also supplies data of total information DB in reprocessable format. For revitalization of communities, the information analysis service is constructed to lead experts on urban regeneration to share their opinions.
