Energy constraint control in numerical simulation of constrained dynamic system

  • In the analysis of constrained holonomic systems, the Lagange multiplier method yields a system of second-order ordinary differential equations of motion and algebraic constraint equations. Conventional holonomic or nonholonomic constraints are defined as geometric constraints in this paper. Previous works concentrate on the geometric constraints. However, if the total energy of a dynamic system can be computed from the initial energy plus the time integral of the energy input rate due to external or internal forces, then the total energy can be artificially treated as a constraint. The violation of the total energy constraint due to numerical errors can be used as information to control these errors. It is a necessary condition for accurate simulation that both geometric and energy constraints be satisfied. When geometric constraint control is combined with energy constraint control, numerical simulation of a constrained dynamic system becomes more accurate. A new convenient and effective method to implement energy constraint control in numerical simulation is developed based on the geometric interpretation of the relation between constraints in the phase space. Several combinations of energy constraint control with either Baumgarte's Constraint Violation Stabilization Method (CVSM) are also addressed.

  • The optimal analysis has objective functions, equality constraint functions and inequality functions. Objective functions may be used with inequality function, because occasionally variables are moved to non-analytic condition with calculating objective functions. But inequality constraint functions are very complicated problem in a optimal analysis. this paper suggest a method to solve inequality constraint functions.

  • EFP(Fitness For Purpose) type defect assessment methodologies based on ECA(Engineering Critical Analysis) have been established and are in use for the structural integrity evaluation of gas pipelines. ECA usually includes the fracture mechanics analysis, and it is assumed that the J-integral uniquely characterizes the crack-tip stress-strain field. However, it has been proven that the J-integral alone can not be sufficient to characterize the crack-tip field under low levels of constraint with a single parameter. Since pipeline structures are made of ductile material, locally loaded in tension, cracks may experience low level of constraint, and therefore, J-dominance will be lost. For this reason, the level of constraint must be quantified to establish a precise assessment procedure for pipeline defects. The objective of this paper is to investigate the fracture behavior of a crack in gas pipeline(KS D 3507) by quantifying the level of constraint. For this purpose, tensile tests and CTOD tests were performed at room temperature(24$\^{C}$) and low temperature(-40$\^{C}$) to obtain the material properties. J-Q analyses were performed for SENB and SENT specimens based on 2-D finite element analyses, in order to investigate the in-plane constraint effects on pipeline defects. For precise assessment of cracks, especially shallow cracks, in KS D 3507 pipeline, constraint effect must be considered.

  • This paper presents the method to eliminate the constraint reaction in the Lagrange multiplier form equation of motion by using a generalized coordinate driveder from the velocity constraint equation. This method introduces a matrix method by considering the m dimensional space spanned by the rows of the constraint jacobian matrix. The orthogonal vectors defining the constraint manifold are projected to null vectors by the tangential vectors defined on the constraint manifold. Therefore the orthogonal projection matrix is defined by the tangential vectors. For correcting the generalized position coordinate, the optimization problem is formulated. And this correction process is analyzed by the quasi Newton method. Finally this method is verified through 3 dimensional vehicle model.

  • 본 연구에서는 CFEM을 이용하여 구속조건이 있는 다물체의 운동방정식해석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 다양한 구속조건을 다루기 위하여 7개의 구속모델이 적용되었다. 구속조건으로 보안된 운동방정식은 높은 정확도를 위해 4차의 Runge-Kutta 방법을 사용하여 해석하였다. 다양한 구속조건이 있는 문제에 대하여 개발된 프로그램을 적용하고, 발표된 결과와 비교함으로써 개발 프로그램을 검증하였다.

민간경비원의 여가제약이 직무스트레스 및 생활만족에 미치는 영향 (Influence of the Leisure Constraint of a Private Security Guard on His/Her Task Stress and Life Satisfaction)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 민간경비원의 여가제약이 직무스트레스 및 생활만족에 미치는 영향을 규명하는데 있다. 이 연구는 2009년 서울소재 민간경비 회사에 재직하고 있는 민간경비원들을 연구대상으로 판단표집법을 이용하여 최종분석에 사용된 사례 수는 300명이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSSWIN 17.0을 이용하여 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 회귀분석, 경로분석 등의 방법을 활용하였다. 설문지의 신뢰도는 Cronbach's $\alpha$값이 .600 이상으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민간경비원의 여가제약은 직무스트레스에 영향을 미친다. 즉, 주변 의식적 제약, 개인적 제약이 증가하면 직무스트레스는 높아지는 반면, 대인적 제약이 감소하면 직무스트레스는 낮아진다. 둘째, 민간경비원의 여가제약은 생활만족에 영향을 미친다. 즉, 개인적 제약이 감소하면 생활만족감은 높아진다. 셋째, 민간경비원의 직무스트레스는 생활만족에 영향을 미친다. 즉, 보상 및 경력개발이 증가하면 생활만족감은 높아지는 반면, 직무특성이 감소하면 생활만족감은 낮아진다. 넷째, 민간경비원의 여가제약은 직무스트레스 및 생활만족에 인과적 영향을 미친다. 즉, 직무스트레스는 여가제약과 생활만족의 관계를 매개하는 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있다.

평기어의 동접촉 해석 (Dynamic Contact Analysis of Spur Gears)

  • A numerical method is presented for the dynamic analysis of spur gears rotating with very high angular speeds. For an efficient computation each gear is assumed to consist of a rotating rigid disk and an elastic tooth having mass, and finite element formulations are used for the equations of motion of the tooth. The geometric constraint is imposed between the rigid disk and the elastic tooth to fix them, and contact condition is imposed between the meshing teeth of the gears. At each iteration of each time step the Lagrange multiplier and contact force are revised by using the constraint error vector, and then the whole equations of motion are time integrated with the given Lagrange multiplier and contact force. For the accurate solution the velocity and acceleration constraints as well as the displacement constraint are satisfied by the monotone reductions of the constraint error vectors. Computing procedures associated with the iterative schemes are explained and numerical simulations are conducted with the spur gears.

조립체 공차설계를 위한 제약해석과 과잉제약 개선 - 볼밸브 설계 사례연구 (Constraint Analysis and Reduction of Over-Constraints for Tolerance Design of Assemblies - A Case Study of Ball Valve Design)

  • Mechanical designers often make mistakes that result in unwanted over-constraints, causing difficulty in assembly operations and residual stress due to interference among parts. This study is concerned with detection and elimination of over-constraints. Screw theory is a general method that is used for constraint analysis of an assembly and motion analysis of a mechanism. Mechanical assemblies with plane-plane, pin-hole, and pin-slot constraint pairs are analyzed using screw theory to illustrate its utility. As a real-world problem, a ball valve design is analyzed using the same method, and several unwanted over-constraints are detected. Elimination measures are proposed. Nominal dimensions of some parts are adjusted, and dimensions and tolerances of the pins and holes are modified using the virtual condition boundary concept. The revised design is free of over-constraints. General procedure for applying screw theory to constraint analysis is established and demonstrated; it will contribute to improving quality of assembly designs.

PPA기법을 적용한 민간경호경비원의 여가제약과 중점개선 여가활동 참가지수 분석 (Analysis on the Leisure Constraint and Index Concentrate Here Improvement's Leisure Activities among the Private Security Agents Applying PPA Technique)

  • 이 연구는 PPA 기법을 적용하여 민간경호경비원들의 여가활동 집중개선 여가활동을 도출하고, 나아가 여가제약이 참가지수에 미치는 영향을 규명하는데 주된 목적이 있다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 최종적으로 민간경호경비원들의 여가후생복지 개선을 위한 정책투자우선순위를 도출하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 2010년 2월 서울 소재 6개소 민간경비업체를 대상으로 판단표집법을 적용하여 최종분석에 사용된 사례 수는 총 267명이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSSWIN 17.0 프로그램으로 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 대응표본 t검증, PPA 분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 설문지의 신뢰도는 Cronbach's $\alpha$값이 .768 이상으로 나타났다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민간경호경비원의 여가활동 참가 지수인 선호도와 참여도는 차이가 있다. 중점개선 여가활동은 헬스, 산책/조깅, 숙박관광, 당일여행 등이며, 노력지속 여가활동은 영화, 국내유명관광지, 이성교재, 외식, 대인관계, 스포츠 관람, 독서, 노래방, TV 비디오 시청, 음주 등이다. 개선요망 여가활동은 수상스포츠, 등산, 자전거, 축구, 사진촬영, 구기운동, 항공스포츠, 바둑/장기, 인라인스케이트, 요리 등이다. 둘째, 민간경호경비원의 여가제약은 여가활동 참가지수에 영향을 미친다. 여가제약의 하위요인인 개인내적 제약, 주변의식적 제약이 클수록 선호하는 여가활동 참가지수는 감소하는 반면, 구조적 제약, 시간 경제적 제약과 같은 어려움을 극복할 경우 여가활동 참가지수는 증가한다.

Minimization of Spill Code Insertion by Register Constraint Analysis for Code Generation for Application Specific DSPs

  • Application specific DSPs often employ irregular datapath structures with distributed registers. In the scheduling phase of retargetable compilation, resolution of register usage conflicts comes to be a new constraint for such datapaths. This paper presents a method of register constraint analysis which attempts to minimize the number of the spill codes required for resolving the register usage conflicts. It searches for a set of ordering restrictions among operations which sequentialize the lifetimes of the values residing in the same register as much as possible and thus minimize the number of the register conflict. Experimental results show that a combination of the proposed register constraint, analysis and list-based scheduling reduces the number of the register spills into 25%.
