1. Objectives This research uses the DNA chip, which includes 16,383 gene code, and various statistic prediction way that shows objectification index for the objectification of constitution diagnosis. 2. Methods Drawing blood whose constitution is confirmed, and analyze its gene information by using 1.7k DNA chip to find the gene correlation through multivariate statistical method. 3. Results and Conclusions Distinctive genes such as AK001919, U09384, NM_001805, X99962, NM_004796, AK026738, AL050148, BC002538, AK027074, AK026219, AF087962, AL390142, NM_015372, AL157466, NM_002446, AK024523, NM_014706, NM_014746 and AL137544 were related to Taeumin; AL157448, NM_005957, NM_005656, NM_017548, AK027246, NM_003025, NM_012302 and NM_005905 were represented in Soeumin, while AK026503, AF147325, NM_002076, AF147307, AK001375, NM_003740, NM_005114, AB007890, NM_005505, NM_015900, NM_014936, Z70694, AB023154, U52076, NM_004360, NM_005835, NM_017528, AF087987, NM_014897, AK021720, NM_006420, AJ277915, AK002118 and AK021918 were for Soyangin. This study figured out the possibility to develop the prediction system by sorting each constitution's gene, and research each constitution's distinctive character of manifestation pattern.

Objective : The study aimed to report the results of workplace-based Korean Medicine cohort, The cohort collected the health information including physical measurements, questionnaires, and biomarkers. Method : This study was conducted on 200 faculty members of two hospitals and two universities in 2017 through 2018. The study analyzed physical measurement, cold-heat questionnaire, body compositions and pulse characteristics. Result : The heat-cold score, waist circumference, visceral fat area, and body water were different according to the Sasang constitution, in order of Taeum > Soyang > Soeum. The pulse energy difference was shown only in women. Conclusion : There were differences in body composition such as heat point, waist circumference, internal fat area and body water content by constitution, and also difference by body mass in total energy in pulse examination. It is believed that there were significant relation between physical, physical and energy metabolic aspects through Sasang constitution.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of personality by each Sasang constitution on sleep using Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule(PANAS) and NEO-personality inventory(NEO-PI). Methods The subjects of this study were 2,078 people who had information on Sasang constitutional type and personality(PANAS, NEO-PI) among the data established at the Korean Medicine Data Center. Sleep time and sleep quality were investigated through self-written questionnaires. Sleep time was collected by hand-writing, and sleep quality was checked on a 4 point Likert scale. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to see the correlation between personality and sleep in each constitutional type. Logistic regression was performed using personality as independent variables to find out how much personality affects sleep time. In order to find out how much personality affects sleep quality, regression analysis was performed using personality as independent variables. Results & Conclusions Sleep time was hardly affected by personality. As a result of Pearson correlation analysis, sleep time in all subjects did not show a significant correlation with personality. In logistic regression on sleep time as the dependent variable, no statistically significant results were obtained except for the Negative Affect(NA) in Taeeumin. Sleep quality showed a statistically significant correlation with the negative affect(NA), neuroticism(N), extraversion(E), Physical Component Summary(PCS) and Mental Component Summary(MCS). As a result of regression analysis on sleep quality as the dependent variable, neuroticism(N), negative affect(NA), positive affect(PA), and extraversion(E) were found in the factors affecting sleep quality. Besides, how much personality affected sleep quality might differ in each constitution. In all constitutions, sleep quality was affected by N, but the rank of N was different in each constitution. The sleep quality of Soyangin was not affected by E, and the sleep quality of Taeeumin was specifically affected by O.

Objectives: The purpose of this research is to obtain basic data about the effects of Constitution-Acupuncture (CA) based on Eight-Constitution Medicine (ECM) by the expert CA Oriental Medical Doctors. Methods: The resources were collected from the internet survey method. 35 samples were collected. The SPSS 13.0 for windows and Answer Tree 3.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: The results from this research are as follow. 1. The motivation that apply ECM to clinic are 'Because ECM is effective for diagnosis, treatment and prevention against disease' 48.6% and 'Because CA therapy is effective' 25.7%. 2. The advantage that CA therapy compare to the other acupuncture therapy are 'Management and prevention against disease are available by ECM theory to a person who exact constitution is confirmed' 82.9%, 'CA therapy is superior in treatment of hard symptoms to treat by the other acupuncture therapy' 80%, 'Treatment effect is good' 77.1%, 'Needle manipulation of CA is simple comparatively' 57.1%, 'It is definite whether treatment effect is good or not' 54.3% and CA therapy is superior all in diseases of twelve category. 3. When the effects of CA is good, patients expressed much 'Eyesight lightened', 'Took deep sleep at night', 'Fatigue decreased', 'Body is light', 'Feelings became refreshing' as well as 'Symptoms were improved' and also physicians confirmed as those reactions whether treatment is effective. Conclusions: The research suggest that CA is effective therapy in clinic, and so further study is needed for CA therapy.

Objectives: This paper investigated the effects of 8 Constitution Acupuncture on Heart Rate Variability(HRV) and is intended to find out 8 Constitutional difference on Autonomous Function after 8 Constitution Acupuncture stimulation. Methods: The subjects were comprised of 42 volunteers(11 men and 31 women). The volunteers had acupunctured by 8 Constitution Acupuncture Therapy. HRV and Mean Heart Rate(MHR) were measured by TAS9v2.0(IEMBIO & Saerom, Korea) on two times: before and immediately after acupuncture stimulation. The SPSS 13.0 for windows was used for statistical analysis: Mann-Whitney U-test, Paired Samples T -test and Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to verify the results. Results: 1. There was no statistically significant difference on HRV and MHR between Sympathicotonia and Vagotonia before acupuncture. 2. In the whole subject, immediately after acupuncture stimulation, MHR showed a significant decrease(p<0.01) and Ln(TP), Ln(LF) and Ln(HF) showed a significant increase(p<0.05). But there was no significant difference in LHR. 3. Immediately after acupuncture stimulation, MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP), Ln(HF), showed a significant increase in Pulmotonia(p<0.05), Ln(TP) showed a significant increase in Pancretonia(p<0.05),MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP) showed a significant increase in Hepatonia(p<0.05), and MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP), Ln(HF), showed a significant increase in cholecystonia(p<0.05). But there were no significant difference on HRV and MHR in Colonotonia and vesicotonia. Conclusion: The results suggest that 8 Constitution Acupuncture is associated with changed activity in sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Further study is needed for investigating the effects of 8 Constitution Acupuncture on HRV and autonomic nervous system.

In oriental medicine, it is rare to recommend the same herbal medicine to other patients because it is very effective in using a certain medicine for a patient with a certain disease. Because the same prescription works well for some people, but very bad results for some people. In order to solve this problem, we developed an algorithm that automatically recommends medicinal products when the patient biometric and Sasang constitution information are selected in the web program. Moreover, in this paper, it developed SWproducts to automatically determine the patients' constitution.

사상의학은 외형과 병증 등을 바탕으로 체질을 감별하고 이를 진단에 활용하는 한국의 고유 체질 의학이다. 체형은 체질 변증의 중요한 단서로, 계측정보를 사용한 체질별 도식화 및 감별을 위한 기존 연구가 있었으나, 한정된 샘플수와 연구 간의 이질성으로 대규모 집단 분석 결과가 도출되기 어려우며, 실측 및 라벨링 데이터가 필수적이라는 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 한국인 체형 빅데이터를 사용하여, 영상 정보만으로 체질 감별에 필요한 체형 요소를 추출하고, 이를 기존 문헌에서 제시한 체질 감별 공식에 적용하여 사상체질을 자동 감별하는 모델을 제안한다.

Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) has been actively researched through various approaches, including computational methods. This paper aims at providing an overview of domestic studies using the computational techniques in TKM field. A literature search was conducted in Korean publications using OASIS system, and major studies of data mining in TKM were identified. A review was presented in six diagnosis fields, including sasang constitution diagnosis, eight constitution diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, pattern diagnosis for stroke, diagnosis based on ontology, diagnosis for cause of disease. They collect clinical data themselves for experiments and primarily applied a algorithm of decision tree, SVM, neural network, case-based reasoning, ontology reasoning, discriminant analysis. In the future, there needs to identify which algorithm is suitable to diagnosis or other fields of TKM.

본 논문에서는 한방 8체질 및 신체정보 관련 데이터셋을 바탕으로 개인 맞춤 식품 및 식단을 추천하는 데이터베이스의 설계·구축을 수행한다. 또한 이 시스템을 이용하여 추천된 식품(식단)과 희망하는 지역을 입력했을 때 선별된 음식점 정보를 제공한다. 데이터베이스 생성 프로세스와 수집한 데이터를 통해 데이터베이스 설계, 데이터 수집, 생산 및 처리 예제, 데이터베이스 활용 등에 대해 다양한 방법을 제공한다. 일상생활에서 데이터베이스 시스템을 활용함으로써, 이 시스템은 한의원 또는 전문채널을 통해 알 수 있었던 맞춤 식단 정보를 대중에 공개되어 정보 진입장벽을 낮추고 편의성을 도모한다. 이로써 오늘날 고령 사회에 진입한 대한민국에서 국민들이 건강한 식생활을 지원하여 궁극적으로 국민 건강 증진에 기여한다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the menstrual disorders affect the Sasang constitutions questionnaire response in high school girls. Methods Using a structured menstrual history questionnaire, we evaluated the degree of menstrual disorders of 795 high school girls who participated in this clinical trial. Based on the survey we classified them into menstrual disorders group and control group. They filled out SSCQ-P (Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for Patients) and we had compared the difference in response by Sasang constitutions. Each group included 97 girls respectively. From 68 girls in menstrual disorders group and 81 girls in control group, 149 questionnaire was analyzed statistically by their constitutions. Results Four questions in Soyangin, twenty one questions in Taeeumin, ten questions in Soeumin were statistically significant in response between menstrual disorders group and control group. Conclusions Soyangin's menstrual disorders don't have a significant impact on SSCQ-P survey. Water retention of PMS may be affect divergence of lung and cause various symptoms in Taeeumin. Soeumin's menstrual disorders may be more affect negative emotions and activity decrease than other constitutions.
