  • This paper presents a new algorithm to restore the de-energized loads in electric power distribution systems for restoration by utilizing object-based structure and heuristic rules without branch and feeder overloading. In order to cope with a complex network configuration and frequent breaker switching operations in distribution systems, the component of power system is described as objects and the information of system configuration is constructed by connecting objects each other. Such a strategy is developed mainly based on the object search algorithm to increase computation efficiency. As a result, the proposed system has been implemented to efficiently deal with large distribution systems by reducing computational burden remarkably compared with the conventional methods.

  • According to the progress of multimedia technology and growth of high speed network, plenty of multimedia contents are produced and in circulation. Because of these reasons, it is required that the method which can manage efficiently and make multimedia contents, for which are saved in Storage as different used, synchronize. In this paper, the metadata schema that can manage the method with being database using each Device metadata that are produced by extracting the needed information to multimedia contents is suggested. And the method that can make synchronized multimedia contents metadata on connecting between heterogeneous devices is proposed.

  • Universal Serial Bus (USB) is one of the most popular communication interfaces. When USB is used in more extended range, especially configuring home network by connecting multiple digital devices each other, USB interface uses the bandwidth in the way of Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) so that the bottleneck of bus bandwidth can be brought under the heavy traffic. In this paper, the more effective usage of bus bandwidth to overcome this situation is introduced. Basically, in order to realize the system for transferring real-time moving picture data among digital information devices, we analyze USB transfer types and descriptors and introduce the method to enhance the detailed performance of isochronous transfer that is one of USB transfer types.

  • This paper proposed that a high power AC-DC buck converter topology of high efficiency using loss-less snubber operates with four chopper connecting a number of parallel circuit. To improve these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. And, some simulative resutls on computer is included to confirm the validity of the analytical results. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step-down and a condenser of loss-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source of rresonant operation. The proposed conversion system is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

  • 본 논문에서는 CD, DVD, 책과 같은 정보 저장 매체와 디지털 환경을 조합하여, 사용자로 하여금 쉽게 정보에 접근 가능하도록 하는 시스템을 소개한다. 이 시스템에서는 RFID를 이용하여 각 물리적 정보 저장 매체를 디지털 정보와 연계하고, 연계된 디지털 정보를 직관적이고 편리하게 이용 가능하도록 하는 "스마트 퍽"이라는 인터페이스 도구를 사용하여 사용자가 컴퓨터와 상호작용할 수 있도록 한다. 시스템은 PDP 기반의 테이블 디스플레이 장치, 그 위에 나타나는 정보와 직접적이고 직관적인 인터랙션이 가능한 인터페이스 도구인 스마트 퍽, RFID 인식 장치 등으로 구성되었다. 최종적으로는 이 시스템을 이용하여 실제 음악 CD를 디지털 정보로 나타내고, 쉽게 조작하여 재생하는 예시를 보이기로 한다.

  • We implement the E-plane T-juncition manifold mutiplexer having low insertion loss for output multiplexer of Ku-band satellite transponder. Manifold multiplexer implemented here is composed of 2 channel filters, T-junctions, half-wave waveguide connecting channel filters and manifold, and manifold itself.[1-4] Considering the mass and volume of the satellite transponder, the channel filters are designed to dual-mode.[5-13] And Elliptic filter function is used, which has good characteristics of suppressing the interference between 2 channels. Since the performance of manifold multiplexer depends on the manifold waveguide transmission line length, it's necessary proper analysis. In this paper, we do optimization process of T-junction and other elements by using CAD and implement the manifold multiplexer. An experiment shows that characteristic response of multiplexer matches wel its modeling result.

  • planar circulator swith arbitrarily shaped ferrite resonators are analyzed in this paper. First, resonant frequencies and field distributions for the magnetized ferrite resonator are obtained using finite element method (FEM). Then the RF voltage distributions and other circuit parameters of the circulator which is formed by connecting three suitable transmission lines ot the ferrite resonator are derived from the green function . To remove the spurious solutions in analyzing the ferrite resonator, the results of eigenvalue analysis by node based FEM are comapred with the edge based fEM. The green function is expanded in terms of normalized eigenfunctions of th ecorresponding wave equation. Circulator parameters for circular disk resonator are clculated and compared with the analytical results. The experimental data for the designed circulator using hexagonal reosnator in the 850 MHz frequency range agree well iwth the simulated data.

  • The resonance frequency of the slot-line resonator in the shielding box is analyzed. It is verified experimentally that an X-Band oscillator may be realized by the resonator in the microstrip circuit mount as a shielding cavity, and by shunt-connecting the IMPACT diode on the slot-line, And the oscillating power can be coupled with the microstrip by the coupling aperure on the opposite surface of the microstrip by the coupling aperure on the opposite of the substrate of the microstrip cirsuit.

Computational Astrophysics: Connecting Laboratory Experiments to Observations

  • In the history of astronomy, observed data were interpreted very frequently based upon data measured at laboratories. For example, all the spectroscopic observations were understood via spectroscopic measurements on nuclei, atoms, and molecules. Recently, computational astrophysics plays a role of bridging experimental data to observations, in particular via numerical modeling of complex astronomical phenomena. This presentation focuses on computational nuclear astrophysics that connects experimental data on nuclei to high-energy observation data obtained by X-ray and gamma-ray telescopes. As an example case, X-ray burst will be discussed. In this phenomenon, observed X-ray light curves and spectra can be modeled by stellar evolution calculations that take nuclear reactions of rare isotopes as input information. This presentation also works as an introduction to the following presentation that will provide more detailed discussion on the experimental aspect of X-ray burst.

  • Millimeter-wave networking is composed of narrow beam link. High directivity of the beam provides either advantage or disadvantage in comparison with conventional wide-lobe microwave communications. In such networks, it is very substantial that beam connecting point to point is fixed in right direction. It is major requirement in the beam network to keep the beam in best direction. In this paper, We propose the method to find a best suited direction of the antenna's beam using the Genetic Algorithm in point-to-point link. Proposed method presume that each station knows his direction $\theta$$_1$,$\theta$$_2$ at every step of Genetic Algorithm, then it can be expected that GA is possible to search the ideal solution. Intensity of the received signal is evaluated by the multiplication of lengths to the point which the lobe meets with the horizontal line.
