  • Some analytic results for a solenoid eddy current coil to test nondestructive conducting materials are described in this paper. Normalized impedance of solenoid coil encircling cylindrical conducting tubes or tow-conductor rods is analyzed. Electrical and magnetic properties such as conductivity, permeability and exciting frequency as well as the geometric ones of fill factor or radius ratio of the conductor are also considered. Impedance characteristics of the models obtained by numerical analysis are examined. Validation of the model is carried out using several samples of non-ferromagnetic conducting tubes and 2-conductor rods.

  • Processable conducting polyaniline derivative with free amine functional groups was successfully synthesized from the monomer o-phenylenediamine in aqueous hydrochloric acid medium using ammonium persulfate as an oxidative initiator. The synthesized poly(o-phenylenediamine) (PoPD) in critical condition was found to be completely soluble in common organic solvents like dimethyl sulfoxide, N,N-dimethyl formamide etc. From the intrinsic viscosity measurement, the optimum condition for the polymerization was established. The polymer was characterized by ultraviolet visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ($^1HNMR$) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analyses. The weight average molecular weights of the synthesized polymers were determined by the dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. From the spectroscopic analysis the structure was found to resemble that of polyaniline derivative with free amine functional groups attached to ortho/meta position in the phenyl ring. However, very little ladder unit was also present with in the polymer chain. The moderate thermal stability of the synthesized polymer could be found from the TGA analysis. The average DC conductivity of $2.8{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$ was observed for the synthesized polymer pellet after doping with hydrochloric acid.

  • The Navier-Stokes system for heat-conducting incompressible fluids is studied in a domain ${\Omega}{\subset}R^3$. The viscosity, heat conduction coefficients and specific heat at constant volume are allowed to depend smoothly on density and temperature. We prove local existence of the unique strong solution, provided the initial data satisfy a natural compatibility condition. For the strong regularity, we do not assume the positivity of initial density; it may vanish in an open subset (vacuum) of ${\Omega}$ or decay at infinity when ${\Omega}$ is unbounded.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new elliptic PDE: $$\{{\nabla}{\cdot}\(\frac{|{\gamma}^{\omega}(r)|^2}{\sigma}{\nabla}v_{\omega}(r)\)=0,\;r{\in}{\Omega},\\v_{\omega}(r)=f(r),\;r{\in}{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where ${\gamma}^{\omega}={\sigma}+i{\omega}{\epsilon}$ is the admittivity distribution of the conducting material ${\Omega}$ and it is shown that the introduced elliptic PDE can replace the standard elliptic PDE with conductivity coefficient in EIT imaging. Indeed, letting $v_0$ be the solution to the standard elliptic PDE with conductivity coefficient, the solution $v_{\omega}$ is quite close to the solution $v_0$ and can show spectroscopic properties of the conducting object ${\Omega}$ unlike $v_0$. In particular, the potential $v_{\omega}$ can be used in detecting a thin low-conducting anomaly located in ${\Omega}$ since the spectroscopic change of the Neumann data of $v_{\omega}$ is inversely proportional to thickness of the thin anomaly.

  • This work describes the effect of conducting composite on the characteristics of electric double layer capacitor. The cell, which was fabricated with conducting composite consisted of 50 wt.% of SPB and 50 wt.% of VGCF, exhibits the higher specific capacitance, the lower resistance and the better rate capability than those of the cells fabricated with each single electronic conductor. These enhanced properties could be related with the dense structure of electrode.

  • This paper describes the motion characteristics and micro-discharge of the free conducting particles between plain electrodes under alternating voltage. The particles move between both electrodes due to electrostatic force by applied AC voltage. Various types and sizes of free conducting particles were used to study the motion and micro-discharge characteristics. The micro-discharge and breakdown were observed during the particle motion.

  • We report on a fascinating morphology; giant spherical conducting polythiophene by the in-situ gamma radiation-induced chemical polymerization method. The resultant micron-size buckyball-shaped polymer structures were identified by high resolution transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Different characterizations e.g. Fourier transform infrared, x-ray diffraction, and x-ray photoelectron microscopy were utilized to prove that the new morphological conducting polythiophene was synthesized successfully by this novel method.

  • Block copolymers with well-defined nanoscopic structures have recently gained much attention for their potential uses as functional nanostructures. Here, we show that nanoporous templates made from polystyrene-block-poly (methyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PMMA) satisfy a novel design concept. At first, arrays of nanoscopic cylindrical microdomains oriented normal to the surface can easily be prepared. Then, we fabricated ultra high density arrays of conducting polymer as poly(pyrrole) (Ppy) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanowires with diameters of $25{\sim}40\;nm$ on the ITO glass by electropolymerization of the monomers inside nanoholes. These high density arrays of conducting polymer nanowires could be used as P-type materials for photovoltaic devices.

  • A microwave incoherent imaging method for a conducting cyliner by using multi-frequency tiem-harmonic field is presented in this study. In this paper, an incoherent intensity pattern of th econducting cylinder is obtained by averagin gout the multi-frequency intensities of the coherent field such as the time-harmonic field scattered from this cylinder. This phenomenon is hsown numerically in scattering by a conducting circular cylinder illuminated by the time-harmonic plane wave, and is interpreted analytically by the mutual coherence functon defined as a frequency-averaged intensity of the time-harmonic fields in th frequency domain.

  • An exact asymptotic solution for a perfect conducting wedge with H-polarized plane wave incidence is analytically derived by substituting the exact boundary fields of the perfeet conducting wedge, the well known series solution, into the dual integral exquation in the spectral domain. The validity of the derivation is assured by showing that the analytic integration gives the null fields in the complementary region. The merits taking the dual integral equation for derivation of an asymptotic solution for a perfect conduction wedge is discussed.
