Research on the Impact of Logistics Industry Efficiency and Agglomeration Effect on Import and Export Trade in Korea

  • Purpose - The logistics industry is often featured by its location relevance and industrial concentration. Industrial concentration is conducive to the effective transmission of information by reducing transaction costs and improving transaction efficiency, thus promoting the development of trade. The main purpose of this paper is to measure the spatial total factor productivity and location quotient of the logistics industry in Korea, and to study the impact of the logistics industry efficiency and agglomeration effect on import and export trade in Korea. Design/methodology - First, used the spatial stochastic frontier method to measure the spatial total factor productivity of the logistics industry in Korea, this serves as the efficiency index of the logistics industry in various regions of Korea. Second, calculated the location quotient (LQ) of the logistics industry to measure the industry's concentration degree. Third, employed a spatial econometric model to analyze the impacts of factors such as the efficiency and concentration levels of the logistics industry on import and export trade in Korea. Findings - This study's main findings can be summarized as follows: this study found that the overall efficiency of the logistics industry in Korea needs to be improved, even though it showed an upward trend in all regions of the country; Moreover, the agglomeration level of Korea's logistics industry needs to be improved; Finally, the positive spatial correlation and industrial agglomeration effect of Korea's logistics industry had a positive impact on the country's import and export trade. Originality/value - This study is innovative in terms of research perspective and methods. Most of the previous studies have measured the development level of the logistics industry using the logistics performance index (LPI), Fewer studies have assessed through the spatial total factor productivity and location quotient of the logistics industry in Korea to measure the efficiency index of the logistics industry in various regions of Korea and concentration degree, as well as there was almost no study on the impact of logistics industry efficiency and agglomeration effect on import and export trade in Korea. This study addresses this limitation by analyzing the impacts of the efficiency and agglomeration effect of the logistics industry on import and export trade in Korea.

기업특성이 물류정보시스템에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The study on the effects of firm′s characteristics on the logistics information system)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in logistics information system and indirect effects of logistics performances on the acceptance level of logistics information system. The limitation and recommendation of this study were as follows : First, as the history of logistics introduction in Korean corporations is short, the level of logistics information system sampled in this study is very low. So the findings of this study is hard to represent the general logistics information system situation of in Korea our corporations. Second, the focus of this study is on the manufacturing corporations, so the study on the logistics corporations is required. And the study on the effects of firm's situation(formalization, decentralization, concentration, strategic plans) on the characteristics of logistics information system is needed.

IPA 분석을 활용한 군 물류체계 개선방안에 대한 연구 (Study on Ways to Improve Military Logistics Systems Based on IPA Analysis)

  • 본 논문은 IPA 모형을 통해 군 물류분야의 집중관리 대상항목을 제시하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 개선방안 요소를 바탕으로 리커트 5점 척도의 설문지를 구성, SPSS 23을 통해 중요도와 만족도분석을 실시했다. 먼저 중요도 측면에서 '창고시설 확충 및 현대화' 평가요인의 평균이 4.23으로 가장 중요하게 나타났고, 만족도 요인의 경우 '지역별 물류업무 통 폐합'(3.56)의 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. '창고시설 확충 및 현대화' 요인의 경우 중요도와 만족도의 차이가 2.01으로 가장 큰 차이를 보여 군 물류 창고 시설의 확충 및 현대화에 대한 전반적 검토가 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 군 물류에 있어 우선적으로 개선해야 하는 부분을 인식하고 집중 관리하여 좀더 효과적인 결과를 창출하고, 군 물류 효율화를 위하여 집중관리 해야 하는 항목을 제시하였다는 점에서 시사점을 갖는다.

중국의 항만 물류집중화에 관한 연구 - 상하이항과 장강을 중심으로 - (A Study on Harbor Logistics in China)

  • 중국은 '중국의 아시아 비즈니스 중심화'라는 전략을 수립하고 항만 및 물류분야 인프라 구축 및 집중 개발정책을 적극 추진하고 있다. 그 중점적인 개발 대상은 상하이항과 장강유역이다. 이러한 중국정부의 상하이항과 장강유역의 개발이 동북아시아의 물류집중화를 더욱 촉진시키고 있고, 또한 중화권의 해운항만이 더욱 활성화되는 기폭제가 되고 있다. 이에 따라, 우리나라의 대응전략으로 크게 세 가지를 제시하였다. 첫째, 중화물류권의 성장에 따른 우리선사들의 차별화된 서비스와 네트워크, 둘째, 장강 유역에서 화물 운송 서비스사업에 나서기 위해서는 중국 기업과 합작 투자, 셋째, 상하이항과 장강 개발에 따른 환황해권 해상교통망을 구축하는 것이다.

러시아 북극지역 항만의 집중 및 경쟁현상에 관한 연구-북극해 항로를 중심으로 (Seaport Concentration and Competition Development in the Arctic Region of Russia along the North Sea Route)

  • 러시아는 북극의 항로와 항만을 소유하고 접근할 수 있는 권한을 가지고 있다. 북극항로는 지난 수십 년간 주요 논쟁의 대상이 되었다. 항로상에서 화물처리를 위하여 적합한 항만시스템은 필수적이다. 본 연구는 2007년에서 2016년 사이 북극항로에 위치한 러시아 항만의 개발 및 경쟁에 대한 현상을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 방법은 HHI, CR, Gini Coefficient, Lorenz Curve, Shift-Share Analysis를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 집중화현상과 약한 성장 및 작은 규모의 항만경쟁이 있음을 밝혔다. 본 연구는 북극항로에 위치한 항만 관련 연구가 미진한 현재 상황에서 의미가 있으며, 연구결과는 항만정책 담당자, PA 담당자 및 연구자에게 시사점을 제공한다.

Analysis of High Concentration Diffusion Pattern by Air Pollutions in Port Industry Interfaces

  • Purpose - Port is vital for international trade accounting for approximately 80% of world cargo transportation in the global trade sector. Air pollutants emitted owing to the related industry interfaces developed around the port spread throughout the dense population region can have harmful effects on the nearby residents. This study aims to analyze high-concentration diffusion pattern by air pollutants, considering the main management periods by air pollutants. Design/methodology - Employing the concentration criteria per main air pollutant, the analyses of concentration change patterns per air pollutant, wind characteristics that directly affected the air pollutant diffusion, distribution types per air pollutant, and high-concentration diffusion patterns by season according to time changes were conducted. Findings - The substances that caused harmful levels of air pollution in the hinterland living zone of the Busan New Port were PM_10, PM_2.5, and NO_2. Furthermore, the intensive management periods were as follows: For PM_10, 24-h (spring), 12:00-16:00 (summer), 12:00-16:00 (summer), 20:00-12:00 (fall), and 24:00-20:00 (winter), and for PM_2.5, 24-h (all four seasons), and for NO_2, 23:00-04:00 (spring), 23:00-08:00 (summer), and 20:00-08:00 (fall), and 23:00-04:00 (winter). Originality/value - Research finding indicates that regular monitoring and countermeasures to reduce air pollution for each air pollutant makes it possible to achieve effective air quality control in the port and hinterland living zones.

화물철도 노선별 운송 품목의 경쟁구조에 관한 연구 : 우리나라를 중심으로 (A Study on the Competitive Structure of Transportation Items by Freight Railway Lines: The case of South Korea)

  • The logistics industry is changing with the diversification of demand and related technology development. Thus, the transportation system is also changing to social problems and environmental damage, and the importance of rail freight is increasing with changes in the international logistics environment. This study analyzes railway freight competition structure using freight volume and suggests improving the competitiveness of railroad freight. To achieve the research purpose, this study was conducted using the Hirshmann-Herfindahl Index(HHI) and Location Quotients(LQ) method. As a result, the concentration trend of railway trends has increased from 0.213 to 0.238 during the last 9 years, and LQ analysis has enabled the identification of local competition lines by item. The study result confirmed that policy measures on railway freight system, railway infrastructure construction and railway operation are necessary to enhance railway competitiveness.

유통업체의 정보물류시스템 아웃소싱 유형과 물류성과에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study of Logistics Performance and Outsourcing Types of Korean Distributors)

  • Purpose - This study focused on providing strategic findings that make significant sense for companies that are looking for a future outsourcing strategy. The study analyzes the results of outsourcing in the information logistics systems field and verifies the results through experimental study of the performance delivered by logistics outsourcing types. Research design, data, and methodology - The study sample was assembled based on a random sampling method used to extract the initial 451 companies from a list of Korean distributors, wholesalers, and retailers. Following that sample process, 423 companies were confirmed by verifying their e-mail address and contacts (telephone and fax numbers), and were selected as initial research subjects. We reduced that number to 331 companies for the survey sample through telephone interviews in advance with the 423 companies that were targeted, in order to verify whether they are in the field of outsourcing of information logistics systems. The period of the survey extended from November 10, 2013 to January 10, 2014. The number of collected surveys totaled 181. We reviewed the contents of the survey responses, and reduced the number of research subjects to 175. In this study, we used a standard analysis to investigate whether there is a difference in distribution results based on different types of outsourcing information in the logistics system field and, through T-verification, we investigated whether the difference between distribution results in each group resulting from that standard analysis is statistically significant. Results - These results show that there is a difference in distribution outcome, based upon type of distribution outsourcing. In addition, we determined that they are meaningful results by confirming that, for usability and to improve the capabilities of a third-party logistics service supplier, both the choice of reasonable outsourcing types and the enhancement of various types of alliances are very important success factors. Taken together these study results, with a goal of enhancing the distribution capabilities of a Korean distributor, can be implemented to enhance management results achievable by supplying an information logistics system in the form of strategic outsourcing rather than in the form of simple outsourcing. In addition, the outcomes of logistics distributors in Korea that are using outsourcing in the logistics information systems field show high performance results in commercial endeavors in the following order: competitive, pre-competitive, non-competitive, and pro-competitive. Conclusions - This study focused on providing strategic findings. However, in the case of outsourcing in the field of information logistics systems of Korean distributors, there has been a focus on simple outsourcing rather than on strategic outsourcing; furthermore, there has been a concentration on non-competitive forms instead of pro-competitive forms, which could achieve better distribution results. This discussion is presented in more detail in the analysis results of this study.

R을 활용한 한국의 스마트물류 연구동향 분석과 시사점 (A Study on Research Trends in Korea's Smart Logistics Field by using R and its implications)

  • 본 연구는 R을 활용한 사회네트워크 분석(SNA)을 실시하여 국내 스마트물류에 관한 연구 동향을 분석하고 스마트물류 현황 및 정책 검토 등과 함께 스마트물류 분야에 대한 이해를 높이고 시사점을 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 분석 기간과 대상은 지난 10년간(2011~2020년) 스마트물류 주제의 학술지 논문 128편이며, 결과는 4차 산업혁명이 공식 언급된 2016년 1월 세계경제포럼(WEF)을 기준으로 전기(2011~2015년)와 후기(2016~2020년)로 구분하고 빈도분석, 네트워크 중심성 분석, 시각화 등을 진행했다. 주요 연구결과는 연구의 양적 증가와 분야의 다양화 그리고 중복 키워드 비중의 확대로 핵심 분야에서 연구 집중도가 높아지는 것을 확인했으며, Logistics, Authentication, Smart, Service, RFID, Technology, Revolution 등 매개중심성과 연결중심성이 높은 키워드를 제시했다. 또한, 연구대상 논문의 핵심 키워드로 네트워크를 시각화한 이후 매개중심성을 중심으로 구조를 검토했으며 분석의 대상이 된 초기 연구가 물류 분야에 집중되었다면, 2016년 이후 4차 산업혁명 및 주요 기술 등으로 연구의 중심이 다양화 및 확대되고 있음을 확인했다. 분석결과와 함께 스마트 물류 동향과 국내 정책 등을 검토했으며 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구과제를 제시했다.

베트남 물류기업의 경쟁 및 탈 집중화: 베트남 포워더를 중심으로 (Competition and deconcentration of logistics companies in Vietnam focusing on domestic freight forwarders)

  • 본 연구는 베트남 포워딩 시스템 발전 과정에서 집중화 및 탈 집중화 현상을 분석하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 연구의 방법은 허핀달-허쉬만 분석(집중도 분석), 전이할당 분석, 로렌츠 곡선 및 지니계수 분석을 활용하였다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 첫째, 집중도 분석결과 2009년 0.117에서 2019년 0.083의 결과를 보이며 탈 집중화 경향을 나타냈다. 둘째, 전이할당 분석 결과 Transimex가 백만 VND 1,906,515의 전이효과를 나타냈으며, 분석기간 평균 백만 VND 2,158,232를 획득한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 지니계수 분석 결과 2008-2018 기간 동안 0.468에서 0.393으로 떨어지며 베트남 포워딩 시장의 탈 집중화 경향을 나타냈으며, 이러한 현상은 로렌츠 곡선에서도 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 분석기간인 2008-2018 사이에 전반적인 탈 집중화 현상이 관측된다. 본 연구의 결과는 이해관계자에게 접근이 쉽지 않았던 베트남 포워더에 관련된 자료를 제공한다.
