  • This paper addresses the localization and navigation problem in the movement of service robots by using invisible two dimensional barcodes on the floor. Compared with other methods using natural or artificial landmarks, the proposed localization method has great advantages in cost and appearance since the location of the robot is perfectly known using the barcode information after mapping is finished. We also propose a navigation algorithm which uses a topological structure. For the topological information, we define nodes and edges which are suitable for indoor navigation, especially for large area having multiple rooms, many walls, and many static obstacles. The proposed algorithm also has the advantage that errors which occur in each node are mutually independent and can be compensated exactly after some navigation using barcodes. Simulation and experimental results were performed to verify the algorithm in the barcode environment, showing excellent performance results. After mapping, it is also possible to solve the kidnapped robot problem and to generate paths using topological information.

  • We propose an adaptive nonlinear control algorithm for high precision tracking and stabilization of LOS(Line-of-Sight). The friction parameters of the LOS gimbal are estimated by off-line evolutionary strategy and the friction is compensated by estimated friction compensator. Especially, as the nonlinear control input in a small tracking error zone is enlarged by the nonlinear function, the steady state error is significantly reduced. The proposed algorithm is a direct adaptive control method based on the Lyapunov stability theory, and its convergence is guaranteed under the limited modeling error or torque disturbance. The performance of the pro-posed algorithm is verified by computer simulation on the LOS gimbal model of a moving vehicle.

  • This paper presents a compensation algorithm for position error due to an amplitude imbalance between resolver output signals. Resolvers are typically used to obtain absolute position information for motor drive systems in severe environments. Position error is caused by an amplitude imbalance of the resolver output signals. As a result, the d- and q-axis currents of synchronous reference frame have periodic ripples in the stator fundamental frequency in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive systems. Therefore, this paper proposes a compensation algorithm to reduce the position error generated by the amplitude imbalance. The proposed method does not require any additional hardware, and reduces computation time with a simple integral operation according to rotor position. In addition, the position error can be directly compensated for by the estimated position error. The effectiveness of the proposed compensation algorithm is verified through several simulations and experiments.

  • This paper addresses the framework of object-oriented image coding, describing a new algorithm, based on monodimensional Legendre polynomials, for texture approximation. Through the use of 1D orthogonal basis functions, the computational complexity which usually makes prohibitive most of 2D region-oriented approaches is significantly reduced, while only a slight increment of distortion is introduced. In the aim of preserving the bidimensional intersample correlation of the texture information as much as possible, suitable pseudo-bidimensional basis functions have been used, yielding significant improvements with respect to the straightforward 1D approach. The algorithm has been experimented for coding still images as well as motion compensated sequences, showing interesting possibilities of application for very low bitrate video coding.

  • This paper presents an effective block matching algorithm(BMA) in which the number of search point is about a half of that of three step search, and the number of search step is fixed a four. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of three step search and one-at-at time search(OTS) for three video sequences composed of 16 framse. Moreover the performance of applying subsampling or integral projection to each BMA for further reducing the amount of computation is considered.

  • In this study, the control of mounting system for MLGA package was developed using machine vision for the control of rotating position compensation and mounting position of X-Y table. Two type of material (polymer, alumina )were used for the dielectric insulator of the MLGA. And the illumination system and the algorithm of position compensation that be suitable for these materials was developed. Also, the position control order that compensated by machine vision actuated to micro stepping motor and X-Y servo motor by controlled PC and mounted the MLGA on PCB in resolution to$\pm10\mum$ .

  • Vibration generated by the non-uniform road profile propagates though each tire and the suspension and finally generates structure born noise in the interior of the passenger vehicle. In this paper, the road-booming-noise which has strong correlation with the vibration signals measured at the suspension system was compensated. Active noise control of the road-booming-noise is rather difficult to achieve because of its non-stationary characteristics. CMFX LMS (Constraint Multiple Filtered-X Least Mean Square) algorithm, which can track non-stationary process rather well, is applied. Comprison of the proposed method and the conventional MFX LMS (Multiple Filtered-X Least Mean Square) algorithm is made through the hardware-in-the-loop simulation and the feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated with the experiment.

  • Air gap flux density and d, q axis inductances of the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor obtained by equivalent magnetic circuit method are compensated using results from Finite Element Method. For optimal design, the efficiency of the motor is taken as the objective function, and Genetic Algorithm finds the value of design parameters which maximize the objective function. The result of optimal designed motor is examined by comparison with proto-type motor.

  • The linear motors are easily affected by load disturbance, force ripple, friction, and parameter variations because there is no mechanical transmission to reduce the effects of model uncertainties and external disturbance. For highspeed/high-accuracy position control of a linear-motor-driven two axes, a nonlinear adaptive controller including a cross-coupling algorithm is designed in this paper. The nonlinear effects such as friction and force ripple are estimated and compensated. An enhanced approach for cross-coupling algorithm is proposed to effectively improve the biaxial contour accuracy with the closed-loop stability. The proposed controller is evaluated through the computer simulations.

  • We propose an adaptive nonlinear control algorithm for compensation of the stick-slip friction in a dynamic system. The friction force and mass of the system are estimated and compensated by adaptive control law. Especially, as the nonlinear control input in a small tracking error zone is enlarged by the nonlinear function, the steady state error is significantly reduced. The proposed algorithm is a direct adaptive control method based on the Laypunov stability theory, and its convergence is guaranteed under the bounded noise or torque disturbance. We verified the performance of the proposed algorithm by computer simulation on one-DOF mechanical system with friction.
