This study aims to understand characteristics and roles of community media in Seoul to discuss the meanings of the media. Community media is constructed based upon the networks of relations of community participants, whose characteristic relations of participants within the network determines the roles and meanings of the media for the community. Research have shown that community media's unique open, participatory, and horizontal communicative structures enable to realize such objects. For this study, we chose Mapo FM to conduct case study based upon network analysis of 'participant network' of the media. In particular, we tried to measure the density and centrality of the network, which can explain the relational characteristics of the networks of the media. In addition, we also conducted in-depth interviews of participants to better understand the problems and meanings of the community media. The findings suggest that unlike the conceptual and theoretical assumptions, the community media under the study lacks of open, participatory, and horizontal ways of participation in the media.
The background of this study is the trend in which the genres of mobile games are becoming diverse based on advanced smart devices. However, since cut-scenes are still being regarded as somewhat unnecessary elements in digital games, this study seeks to suggest the functions and range of uses of cut-scenes. The scope of this study is to make classifications for the range of uses of cut-scenes in commercialized mobile games according to the genre, and investigate the characteristics of visual expression to create a frame for communicative styles of mobile games. The result of study was that different styles were identified regarding the use of cut-scenes in mobile games just as in existing digital games, however diverse attempts are not yet being made as in early digital games. Future study needs to be carried out on communication styles that match the characteristics of mobile game platforms, in which a module that can be applied in the introduction of a new platform is required.

Today, design is considered to have competitive power for a county, so there has been various efforts such as education, publicity and development, etc. Design has long been a national material, and Korea Institute of Design Promotion(KIDP) was inaugurated for the purpose of education, publicity, development and the management, public ownership, support of the contents. Laying stress on the results, however, the design education for children which would be the heart of a world design power is short of both investment and systematic study of education. Now that the design education for children is being active, the cultural spaces are needed to transform the current system focused on schooling and textbooks into the participating, experiential ones by the interesting, educational, and entertaining presentation. The children design exploratorium should make children have their own feelings, and present communicative methods considering children's cognition and behaviors. So, in this study, I'd like to analyze characteristics of the participating and experiential exhibition, and present a children design exploratorium as an alternative plan by the application of adequate methods to the exhibition medium, and the analysis of current exploratoriums' features case by case. The children design exploratorium is the place to maximize the educational effect of design by children's easier and exciting participation, which would offer an unique exhibition place for children to comprehend designs. In this study, on the basis of the alternative presentation of children design exploratoriums, I would refer to the future direction of the 21st century pavilions, the search for the exhibition items for active design education, and the contribution to practical plans.

This study was done to evaluate the need and satisfaction for nursing care of the families with their hospitalized children. The data were collected through the questionnaire from March 15, 2002 to April 7. Subjects were the 103 families caring for their hospitalized children at pediatric ward in two university hospitals in Daegu. The nursing need instrument was developed by Seo(1999) and modified by the researcher of this study based on the classification of nursing care area(nursing assessment, direct nursing, education and counseling, and facilities and environment). The nursing satisfaction instrument was developed by Wandelt & Ager(1974) and modified by Park(1994) based on classification of nursing care area (psychosocial care, physical care, general care, professional care, and communicative care). The data were analyzed for mean, percent, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient using SAS program. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The scores in the nursing need showed in the Direct nursing(3.41±.42), Facilities and Environment(3.38±.46), Education and Counseling (3.35±.40), and Nursing Assessment(3.14±.41) area in order. 2.The scores in the nursing satisfaction showed in the Psychosocial care(3.70±.74), Commu- nicative care(3.60±.72), General care(3.42±.76), Professional care(3.38±.82), and Physical care(3.32±.70) area in order. 3.General characteristics of families which influence on the satisfaction showed a significant difference according to their educational(F=5.63, p=.001) and economical level(F=4.47, p=.006), and hospitalized experience(t=2.30, p=0.02). 4. There was no correlation between the nursing need and the nursing satisfaction.

The purposes of this study were to identify the characteristics of students with different cognitive styles in the communication process according to the types of mathematical tasks and investigate the effects of their cognitive styles and types of mathematical tasks on their mathematical communication. For this, the investigator selected subjects according to the field dependent-field independent cognitive style by Witkin et al.(1977, p. 7). Mathematical tasks were developed in the areas of numbers and operations, regularity, and measurement according to the four types of Stein & Smith(1998, p. 269), which include the Memorization, Procedures without Connections, Procedures with Connections, and Doing Mathematics tasks. The selected students were divided into homogeneous groups according to their cognitive styles, and their communication processes according to the four types of mathematical tasks were observed through participation and videotaped. The videotapes were then transcribed and analyzed in protocols. The conclusions is that mathematical tasks of high cognitive level had positive effects on the activation of significant mathematical communication among the students and that differences in approaches to tasks according to their cognitive styles influenced their communicative activities in speaking and listening.
The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of mathematical discourse about the length in the class that learns the length of the curve defined by definite integral. For this purpose, this study examined the discourse about length by paying attention to the usage of the word 'length' in the class participants based on the communicative approach. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that the word 'length' is used in three usages - colloquial, operational, and structural usage - in the process of communicating with the discourse participants. Particularly, each participant did not recognize the difference even though they used different usage words, and this resulted in ineffective communication. This study emphasizes the fact that the difference in usage of words used by participants reduces the effectiveness of communication. However, if discourse participants pay attention to the differences of these usages and recognize that there are different discourses, this study suggests that meta - level learning can be possible by overcoming communication discontinuities and resolving conflicts.
The aim of this paper is to briefly consider the present state regarding Korean language education for multicultural family members, and to consider the outcomes produced so far. Married woman immigrants and their children must be one of the most significant groups for Korean language education in terms of their huge number and their roles and meanings in Korean society. In order to uplift the Korean communicative ability for multicultural family members, an effective operating system for Korean language education is needed, and also live and efficient Korean language instruction must be given by capable Korean language teachers with adequate teaching materials. A customized Korean language education must also be offered based on researches about the characteristics of multicultural family members as "Korean language learners". Korean language education for married woman immigrants has almost been set up in some extent, in terms of teaching materials and the teacher training system. Therefore, an efficient operating system must be constructed so that the developed teaching materials can be actively utilized in the site of Korean language education. A periodical retraining of Korean language teachers for multicultural family members is also necessary for the improvement of Korean language teaching efficiency. However, Korean language education for multicultural children is still in its infancy due to its late start-up. By the support of the Korean government, the curriculum of Korean language education has recently been fixed, KSL text books are being developed, and a diagnostic tool for evaluating their Korean language ability is now in progress. Many continuing concerns and support must still be provided for the improvement of their Korean language ability and fostering them as competitive and capable of speaking Korean.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the self-expression level of dental hygiene students related to communicative competence and their stress during clinical practice and what affected their stress. The subjects in this study were 125 dental hygiene students in W college, on whom a survey was conducted from September 18 through 30, 2006. After the collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 10.0 program, the following findings were acquired: 1. When a factor analysis was made to evaluate the self-expression of the students, there appeared three different categories of self-expression: voice/content, facial expression/attitude and sentiment. The three made a 58.1% prediction of their self-expression. As for overall reliability, they turned out highly reliable(Cronbach'a = .881). 2. The dental hygiene students got a mean of 3.58 out of possible five points in self-expression, which indicated that they expressed themselves relatively well. Concerning connections between their general characteristics and self-expression level, those who were inactive during clinical practice got a mean of 3.28, whereas the others who were active got a mean of 3.85. It implied that those who took a more active attitude to clinical practice expressed themselves better(p < .01). The person with whom they found it hard to get along made a statistically significant difference to their self-expression(p < .05). The students who didn't fare well with dental hygienists got the best score(3.70). The second best group(3.53) didn't get along with dentists, followed by assistant nurses(3.46) and patients/caregivers(3.31). As for the impact of the field of dream job, the students who hoped to work or study overseas(4.21) excelled in self-expression those who wanted to be hired in a general hospital, to go onto a school of higher grade and to work in a public dental clinic(p < .05). Among the general characteristics, satisfaction level with major, health status and motivation of choosing dental hygiene made no statistically significant differences to their self-expression. 3. Regarding relations between self-expression level and stress about clinical practice, those who didn't express themselves properly in terms of sentiment scored higher in stress level(3.65). Their stress was statistically significantly different according to self-expression level (p < .05). 4. As for the influence of self-expression and general characteristics on stress with clinical practice, sentiment was selected from among the self-expression categories as a decisive factor to affect stress. Their stress varied statistically significantly with that(p < .05). In contrast, their demographic variables made no statistically significant difference to that, which made a 79.2% prediction of it.

Therefore, establishing a desirable cultural ecosystem begins with an enduring tradition of traditional art.This study examined the dancing characteristics of gabbigochanong-ag, which maintains the nongsapul-inong-ag performance pattern. Two field studies and image analysis studies showed that gabbigochanong-ag maintained the characteristics of traditional nong-ag, which strengthened the solidarity and cooperation of village community members and shared community identity. gabbigochanong-ag encourages the participation of the members of the village community through mechanistic dance movements based on soundness, imitative dance movements with minimal movement, repetitive dance movements, and communicative dance movements, As a result of the change, the members of the group were attracted to each other. Although gabbigochanong-ag was not sophisticated or sophisticated, it had a dancing structure that could create aesthetics and marginal aesthetics of slowness from the swiftness and convenience of civilization and bring harmony among the members of the community with warm emotion.
