China poster design in the study of Red Color (중국포스터디자인 나타난 Red Color에 대한 연구)

  • China has had a long preference in red. The color, symbolizing the sun, has a special significance, which stems from ancient times. The worship of the sun in the primitive society has been inherited by means of the collective unconsciousness; the sun has represented a variety of values such as nobility, purity, integrity, prosperity, success, happiness, good fortune, auspiciousness, and still much more. This research studies how the Chinese artworks visualize the color 'red', emphasizing the image of China and her culture. To do this, "Red Color" in Chinese posters from the past to the present were analyzed. While the images in red were delivered with a strong political connotation in the middle of the 20th century, as time passes by, the world trend of globalization has led the recent poster design in China to present red as the color standing for Chinese tradition, culture and spirits, which have flown throughout the 5000-year-long history.

  • Color is basically composed of hue, saturation and value. Many objects are made up with color. When people see color, they feel different emotion because of different combination of hue, saturation and value of different colors. Thus, people feel different feeling about the taste of food depending on its color. Thus, by analyzing what color makes people feel tasty about food, we can make food to look more delicious. When people take pictures of food, theyusually do not consider this into account. However if we apply this technology into taking pictures of food, we can make the food look more delicious. This technology can be applied when people want to upload pictures of food in blog, homepage and twitter and so on. In this paper, we analyze the feelings of color of people and then choose the best color combination to present food. After that we change the original image into the new one based on the analysis of color. This way, we can reflect each user's preference.

An Analysis on the characteristic of recognition about Individual Housing according to the landscape in Donghae Seaside (동해연안 주택외관의 인지특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study is about finding out characteristic of recognition individual housing in seaside of Donghae. To accomplish this purpose, we survey the 150 houses related to the landscape. Thus the major analysis is to take basic data, such as image(modern, western, traditional, etc) about exterior form of housing corresponding to the landscape. The result summarized as follows First, the elements for the characteristic of recognition were exterior material finish, exterior color, roof type, roof material finish, window size, roof slope, area of wall vs roof. Second, the image of traditional housing was very insufficient to plan landscape of housing with design elements. This research suggests that landscape housing of future is to be environmental landscape design and the proper design is to be various considering not only user's preference but also control of landscape.

  • While the period of 40 million smart phone users begins, mobile game has spread and evolved as quick as popularization of smart phone. Therefore, this study is written to help the improvement of a graphic image on a development of a game for a qualitative growth of a game market, and is to suggest a guideline of tone by genres, by measuring image or feeling of game genre targeting game users. As a result of study, more than 50% of adjectives game users wrote by genres corresponded. It means that tone game users prefer is relatively clear. Therefore, the researcher confirmed that it is possible to attempt the standardization of tome about genre, and suggested 3 kinds of tone and brightness of color by genres. The researcher hopes that this result of the study will help smooth color plan on a development of smart phone game, and that more diverse studies will be proceeded for a qualitative growth of a game market arriving at puberty.

Design Strategies of a Shaver for Men based on Consumers' Sensitive Images of Preference (소비자 선호 감성이미지 기반 남성용면도기 디자인 전략)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the design direction based on consumer sensitivity through the structure between product design preferences - sensitivity image - design elements. For the purpose, we selected men's shaver products for this study subject and collected 164 shavers' pictures released between 2001-2007 years. Then, we carried out a pilot test for collection of sensitivity images about shavers, made a survey using semantic differential method and analyzed the survey. According the result, consumers preferred the sensitivity images "luxury, attractive, stable", design elements satisfied the preference images were "form of body is not a circular arcs or a polygon, material is steel, button is push style, and a color of body is not brown." This study can provide a base of the causal relationship between design preferences - sensitivity image - design elements and a design process to predict consumer sensitivity-oriented design.

  • Nowadays, people get images from various media like TV, magazines, newspaper, internet. Such images directly influence people's thoughts and lives, either consciously or unconsciously. In the past, reproduction devices have been mainly used in reproducing an original scene accurately. Lately, the cognitive preference became a key value in the scene reproduction, and it was affected by the surrounding media. Recently, the most commonly used device in reproducing an original scene is the camera. The core of an image is the light, in other words, the exposure. Most digital cameras are set to adjust exposure automatically in order to reproduce a scene physically as identical as possible. However, physically right exposure does not always give images that people prefers. Numbers of tests were done to find the exposure value that makes an image cognitively more preferred. Skin tones which are highly sensitive to color and changes in density has been used in the tests. A male and a female model have been used to classify changes in cognitive preference due to gender differences.

  • This study aimed to develop a model of the program for automation measuring the preference of the portraits based on the relationship between the image quality factors and the preferences in the portraits for manufacturers aiming at high utilization of the users. in order to proceed with the evaluation, the image quality measurement was divided into objective and subjective items, and the evaluation was done through image processing and statistical methods. the image quality measurement items can be divided into objective evaluation items and subjective evaluation items. RSC Contrast, Dynamic Range and Noise were selected for the objective evaluation items, and the numerical values were statistically analyzed and evaluated through the program. Exposure, Color Tone, composition of person, position of person, and out of focus were selected for subjective evaluation items and evaluated by image processing method. By applying objective and subjective assessment items, the results were very accurate, with the results obtained by the developed program and the results of the actual visual inspection. but since the currently developed program can be evalua ted only after facial recognition of the person, future research will need to develop a program that can evaluate all kinds of portraits.

Development of Automatic Sorting System for Green pepper Using Machine Vision (기계시각에 의한 풋고추 자동 선별시스템 개발)

  • Production of green pepper has been increased due to customer's preference and a projected ten-year boom in the industry in Korea. This study was carried out to develop an automatic grading and sorting system for green pepper using machine vision. The system consisted of a feeding mechanism, segregation section, an image inspection chamber, image processing section, system control section, grading section, and discharging section. Green peppers were separated and transported using a bowl feeder with a vibrator and a belt conveyor, respectively. Images were taken using color CCD cameras and a color frame grabber. An on-line grading algorithm was developed using Visual C/C++. The green peppers could be graded into four classes by activating air nozzles located at the discharging section. Length and curvature of each green pepper were measured while removing a stem of it. The first derivative of thickness profile was used to remove a stem area of segmented image of the pepper. While pepper is moving at 0.45 m/s, the accuracy of grading sorting for large, medium and small pepper are 86.0%, 81.3% and 90.6% respectively. Sorting performance was 121 kg/hour, and about five times better than manual sorting. The developed system was also economically feasible to grade and sort green peppers showing the cost about 40% lower than that of manual operations.

An Analysis on the Visual Image and Harmony of the Construction Method in the Slope Scene -A Case on the Daejeon${\~}$Jinju Highway- (고속도로 비탈면 경관의 법면공법에 따른 시각적 이미지와 조화성 분석 - 대전${\~}$진주간 고속도로를 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to discover the landscape visual image of the slope scene and their harmony with surrounding sceneries. This research utilized the basic study tool of psycho-physics and processed the case study of ten types of slope construction scene along the highway. The analysis was performed by the data obtained from the questionnaires and the photos for the slope construction scene. The questionnaires for analysis the image of the slope construction scene and their harmony with surrounding sceneries were designed using semantic differential scale and 5 point Likert-scale. The major findings were as follows. 1. At the part of the visual preferences analysis, the slope revegetation methods showed high level of preferences generally than on the slope structure methods. While the slope revegetation methods were estimated friendly, continuity, harmonious, soft, light and wide, the slope revegetation methods were estimated unstable, female, static, simple, omnipresent, appeared as policeman of weak inclination. Also the slope structure methods were estimated stable, manly, complicated, steep and healthy but rough, unharmonious, unfamiliar and heavy. 2. Psychological factors, related to the satisfaction for the slope revegetation methods were composed of three factors, aesthetic, individuality and physical character. And the slope structure methods were composed of five factors, aesthetic, individuality, stability, physical character, and complexity. 3. At the part of harmony with surrounding landscapes, the slope revegetation methods were evaluated highly but the slope structure methods received the lowest evaluation. Also the harmony analysis with surrounding view on the slope revegetation methods showed degree of high more than average in all texture, form, color and scale but the slope structure methods showed degree of fewer than average degree in form, scale, color and texture.

A Study of Design Preference and Purchase Behavior by Segmentation of Fashion images on Sportive style (스포티브 스타일의 패션 이미지 세분화에 따른 선호도 및 구매행동 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the fashion images on sportive style, to find out the difference between the image of sportive style which consumers prefer and the image of sportive style which they want to show and, finally, to analyze their purchase behavior. This research is done with survey method. The subjects of the survey are 835 females in their twenties or their thirties in Pusan area. The data are analyzed with factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, $X^2$-test, and frequency analysis. The results of this study are as follows: first, sportive style is classified into Sexy, Romantic, Active and Modem image. Second, the results of analysis on consumers' preferring image and their wanting-to-show image to the above-mentioned image classification are as follows: firstly, the subjects' most preferring image and the image which they most want to show is Modem in1age. The second is Sexy image. But the subjects preferred having Modem image. Secondly, consumers' Individuality and apparel's Function are the important reasons to choose the sportive style. Thirdly, Modem image is the most preferred in the images of street wear. Sexy image and Active image are the preferred in the images of sports wear. Third, It is a vivid tone and a dark tone that is the color tone of sportive wear which consumers prefer. They prefer a logo- patterned sports wear, too. The consumers obtain most information on sports wear from sports wear stores. Silhouette is the most decisive design element in consumers' purchasing. The sports wear brands which the subjects prefer are Adidas and Nike.
