  • This study, as an attempt to integrate mathematics and information for convergence education, was conducted to develop teaching-learning materials on mathematics education combined with coding education, which has recently been emphasized. We chose the subject of digital signature for coding education, and used SageMath as a coding program. In this study, we overview mathematics used in the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm, one of the many methods for digital signature, and developed the teaching-learning materials on the algorithm for mathematics education integrated with information education based on coding. The elliptic curve digital signature algorithm utilized in transactions of Bitcoin, which many people recently are interested in, is a good example, showing students that mathematics is applied to problem-solving in the real world and provides an optimal environment for implementation by coding. Accordingly, we expect that a class on algorithm will provide a specific teaching-learning program to achieve the goal of integrated mathematics education. By comprehensively considering the opinions of mathematicians, mathematics teachers and mathematics education experts, we expect that the teaching-learning program will be realized as a meaningful class in science high schools, high school's math clubs, and 'number theory' class in colleges.

  • Recently the Korean life-long occupational skill development system is undergoing rapid change and innovation on the basis of NCS (National Competency Standards). In order for the NCS-based occupational training system to be successfully established, it is required to be accepted and applied in the higher education. Universities, however, hesitate to adopt NCS-based contracted education programs of the work-and-study cooperative system due to low relevance of university education to industrial needs and absence of the reference operation model for the NCS-based contracted education programs considering Korean small companies' particular needs. This study aims to develop and apply a reference operation model for NCS-based contracted education programs of the university-linked work-and-study parallel system, focusing on the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering of College of Work and Study in Parallel, Koreatech. In addition, several operational guidelines are suggested within the framework of current law and regulations for successful diffusion of the NCS-based reference operation model. The results of this study are expected to contribute to nation-wide proliferation of NCS-based contracted education programs in the higher education and motivating companies and universities to participate in the work-and-study parallel initiatives.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the nursing students' perception of instructor caring (NSPIC) scale developed by Wade and Kasper for nursing students. We collected data from 219 nursing students in the 3rd to 4th year at three nursing colleges from June 4 to June 20, 2018. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. An exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation was performed, resulting in five factors (respectful sharing, confidence through caring, control versus flexibility, supportive learning climate, appreciation of life's meanings) with a total of 27 items. Confirmatory factor analysis supported good convergent and discriminant validities. In addition, the concurrent validity test confirmed that the K-NSPIC scale was a validity tool as the correlation of the clinical learning environment (CLE) scale appeared as r=.64 (p<.001). The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the K-NSPIC was .88, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each of the five factors was .91, .86, .80, .76, and .85; internal consistency was confirmed. It is significant that the K-NSPIC proved applicable as a useful tool for assessing instructor caring. It is also expected that it will assist in the design of programs to improve the caring ability of instructors.

  • This study uses Gini coefficient to index the inequality of academic information resource among universities to identify the areas where the gap is extremely severe, and analyzes the Gini coefficient over time for 10 years to show how the gap is changing. In addition, the degree and characteristics of the gap appearing by type of universities such as metropolitan universities, local national universities, private universities, and colleges were also compared. As a result, first, the university library academic information infrastructure showed a severe level of disparity (0.6 - 0.9), and the inequality was more severe in serials, electronic resources, and reference service. Even when the relative Gini coefficient was calculated considering the number of students, the inequality was over 0.4 in serial etc. Second, the Gini coefficient trend over the last decade shows that the inequality has decreased toward equality in the re-education time of employees and electronic information resources, but not in other sectors. Third, it was found that special universities and universities in the metropolitan area showed a large gap between universities of the same kind, and local national universities showed the best gap level as well as the best academic information infrastructure.

  • To obtain a fruitful outcome in intellectual property (IP) education in colleges, it is essential to identify the affecting factors. The relationships between the factors were to be analyzed as a structural equation model. The IP education achievement was measured by the IP total score. The students' characteristics (input factor) were measured by defining the characteristics, parents' expectations, and IP interest. The characteristics after highschool (process factor) were observed as college satisfaction and learning attitude. Students with excellent defining characteristics have not only high college satisfaction but also an excellent learning attitude, so they have a high IP total score. Using indirect effects analysis, the path through which the defining characteristics indirectly affects the IP total score through college satisfaction and learning attitude was identified. This is consistent with the prediction that self-directed students will have high participation in IP classes and achieve excellent results. The IP interest was found to have no significant effect on the IP total score. This contradicts the belief that students with high IP interest will actively participate in IP classes and earn high scores, which is because it overlooks the possibility that participation in IP activities in high school is semi-forced.

  • This study was to determine differences and relations in nursing students' clinical practice stress and clinical competence by gender role identity. The study made a questionnaire survey of 450 nursing students of 2 colleges in J city, Gyeongnam, from June 1st to 30th, 2020. Data from 417 sheets were finally analyzed with descriptive statistics, χ2test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, correlation and hierarchial regression analysis. The analysis found that most of the participants belonged to undifferentiated type(34.3%) in gender role identity. Clinical competence showed significantly different(F=20.98, p<.001), but clinical practice stress showed no significant difference depending on that identity(F=1.56, p=.199). Clinical competence had positive correlations with the index of masculinity(r=.397, p<.001) or the index of feminity(r=.325, p<.001), but had no with clinical practice stress(r=.061, p=.217). Gender role identity turned out to be a factor that would significantly influence clinical competence(F=6.67, p<.001). These findings suggest that gender role identity of nursing students should be confirmed prior to clinical practice education and, thereon, interventions for clinical competence improvement should be developed.
