  • This study examines the relationship between prior learning experience, the high school records, mathematics grade in the KSAT(Korean Scholastic Aptitude Test) and mathematics achievement, GPA(grade point average) of college freshmen. It analyses how much mathematics capacities in the time of high school affect mathematics achievement of college freshmen. This study surveyed 193 freshmen, attending in a college of science and engineering, taking the 'basic differential and integral calculus' lecture, which was opened for the first semester of 2014 in the A university. The data processing was fulfilled by means of technical statistics, correlation analysis, difference test, ANOVA, ex post facto test, and regression analysis. The outcomes of this survey are followings: Firstly, over 90 percent of college freshmen underwent prior learning of mathematics when they attended high school. Secondly, their perception of effectiveness for prior learning is founded to be meaningfully lower than their perception of its needfulness. Thirdly, while there is higher positive correlation between mathematics achievement and GPA in the college, there is little correlation between high school records and GPA in the college. Also, there is little correlation between mathematics grade in the KSAT and mathematics achievement in the college. Fourthly, the accomplishments in the high school(The high school records, mathematics grade in the KSAT) and the efforts, satisfaction, necessity, etc. for prior learning had little effect on academic achievement in college mathematics. Based on these results, this study makes some suggestions for developing academical achievement in college mathematics.

  • As a researcher engaged in the mathematical education, mathematics teachers are interested in instructional methods. While it is unlikely that the viewpoints of individual mathematics teachers are reflected in making decisions on instructional purposes and instructional contents, a good many parts of instructional methods on mathematical facts are decided by individual teachers. This means that the role of mathematics teachers is given much weight in the mathematical education. Therefore, the mathematics teachers must not be excluded in all parts of the study of mathematical education. We studied the instructional methods of function concept, a central topic in school mathematics from the following perspectives. First, we examined the characteristics of the three(correspondence-centered, middle, dependence centered) viewpoints about the essence of function concept. And we should that which of them should be the viewpoint of instruction of function concept in school mathematics. Second, we investigated the questions regarding the process of function instruction in school mathematics and presented alternative instruction methods of function concept to solve the questions. Third, we postulated the importance of polynomial function, relating college mathematics in order to present the reason why the polynomial function is importantly treated in functional instruction of school mathematics.

  • In this paper, we consider the operator T satisfying $T^{*k}({\mid}T^2{\mid}-{\mid}T{\mid}^2)T^k{\geq}0$ and prove that if the operator is injective and has the real spectrum, then it is self-adjoint.

  • The purpose of this paper, GM modules are defined as a generalization of AGR rings. Also, from the faithful GM-property, we get a commutativity of rings. Finally, for a nearring R, we will introduce MR groups, and also derive some properties of GM modules and MR groups.

  • Educating for character was emphasized in 2015 & 2009 reformed Korea natio nal mathematics curriculum. Thus, in this study we basically conducted to reali ze the creativity and character education. The purpose of this study is to succe ssfully lectures in the 'Mathematics Curriculum and Textbook Research' subject that is mathematics education department's major subject in teacher college, and to analyze the results. For the purpose of this study, the following study was carried out. First, we develop a lesson plan, teaching and learning plan, learning materials based on cr eativity and personality. Second, we taught a class based on the creativity and personality. Third, we analyze the effectiveness of the teaching efficacy about p re-service math teacher. Fourth, we conducted a qualitative analysis of the 'Mat hematics Curriculum and Textbook Research' subject lessons through the Classe s observer.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that have an effect on students, especially in the natural science track, would enter the college of Engineering. For this, the data of KEEP was used, and logistic regression was utilized for analyzing this data. The dependent variables are 'Entering the college of engineering' and 'No entering the college of engineering'. The probable independent variables are 'Sex', 'Interest in mathematics', 'mathematics study achievement', 'Interest in Science', 'Science study achievement', 'The area of book that is read', 'The area of club', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job' and 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job'. The results are as follows. These are 'Sex', 'Knowing about working environment and task of the job', 'Knowing about prospect and wage of the job' that affect statistically entering the college of engineering. In other words, the male student who know working environment, task, prospect and wage of the job well may enter the college of Engineering.

  • The object of the present paper is to introduce ${\Lambda}$-dual and the concept of sectional analyticity (Abschinitts-anatytique or AA property) of an FK-space.The motivation for AA-property is that a sequence space having AK-property possess AA-property.
