부식촉진 실험을 통한 대기환경에서 신설 도장계의 노화곡선 제안 (Suggestion of Deterioration Curve for New-type Coating on Atmospheric Environment by Acceleration Corrosion Test)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내에서 사용되고 있는 우레탄계, 세라믹계, 폴리실록산계 및 불소수지계 강교량용 도장계를 대상으로 실내 부식실험을 실시하여 도장계별 노화모델을 도출하였다. 상도를 구분하여 각 도장계별로 시험편을 제작하였으며, 직경 0.5, 1, 3, 5 mm의 원형 결함을 도입하였다. ISO 20340를 이용하여 극한환경을 모사한 부식촉진실험을 실시하였다. 도장계별 노화곡선은 원형결함의 노화면적을 기준으로 평가되었다. 노화곡선을 사용하여 공용중인 강교의 도장 사용수명을 평가하기 위하여 촉진배율을 산출하였으며, 촉진배율은 ISO 20340과 ISO 9223의 대기환경 부식속도를 기준으로 산출되었다. 실험결과, 노화진전속도는 원형결함의 크기와 상관없이 증가하였으며, 노화면적이 3%일 때 우레탄 도장계의 노화수명은 C2, C3, C4 및 C5 등급에서 약 31.8, 15.8, 9.9 및 3.9년으로 평가되었다.

  • Coated welding points are eliminated for Open-Inspection of above-ground storage tanks which should be inspected periodically in accordance with the Hazmat-treatment Safety Act. But it was speculated on this study that it causes such huge economical losses in terms of manpower and materials that applicable to magnetic particle testing. As a result, it was concluded that the magnetic particle testing is applicable to the coating depth below $50{\mu}m$.

Operating Voltage of Optical Instruments based on Polymer-dispersed Liquid Crystal for Inspecting Transparent Electrodes

  • Optical instruments based on polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) have been used to inspect transparent electrodes. Generally the operating voltage of an inspection instrument using PDLC is very high, over 300 V, reducing its lifetime and reliability. The operating-voltage issue becomes more serious in the inspection of touch-screen panel (TSP) electrodes, due to the bezel structure protruding over the electrodes. We have theoretically calculated the parameters affecting the operating voltage as a function of the distance between the TSP and the PDLC, the thickness, and the dielectric constant of the sublayers when the inspection module was away from the TSP electrodes. We have experimentally verified the results, and have proposed a way to reduce the operating voltage by substituting a plastic substrate film with a hard coating layer of smaller thickness and higher dielectric constant.

자동화 장비를 이용한 대형 상수관로 갱생을 위한 코팅재료 선정 및 방법에 관한 연구 (Investigating coating material and conditions for rehabilitation of water transmission pipe using a robotic system)

  • There is a growing concern on the improvement of water distribution pipeline for multi-regional water supply system in Korea along with its aging infrastructure. Rehabilitation of large diameter pipeline is more efficient in cost and time compared to replacement with trenching. The procedure for rehabilitation are diagnosis, cleaning, spraying coating material, and final inspection. The internal state of pipeline was carefully diagnosed and got C grade, which required rehabilitation. We found that 17,274,787,000 Korean won could be saved after pipe surface coating because of increased C coefficient of Hazen-Williams equation. Optimal coating material was D polyurea. We also found optimal distance between spraying nozzle and pipe wall to be 70 - 80 cm, which were critical factors for coating quality. This study also illustrated the time for spray drying to be more than 30 min. These results could be used in the quality control process during rehabilitation of aged pipelines.

셀룰로오스 나노섬유 혼합 방오코팅제가 도포된 콘크리트의 소수성능과 내구성능 평가 (Evaluation of Hydrophobic Performance and Durability of Concrete Coated with Cellulose Nanofiber Mixed Antifouling Coating Agent)

  • 해양 및 수리구조물은 수분침투뿐만 아니라 해양의생물의 부착 등에 의해서도 내구손상이 발생하게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 해양 콘크리트 등을 위해 자가세척기능을 갖는 방오 코팅제를 개발하고자 하였다. AKD와 셀룰로오스 나노섬유 및 BADGE를 혼합한 방오코팅제를 접촉각 140°내외의 소수성과 기울임각 15°에서 충분한 방오성능 확보한 것으로 확인하였다. 표면의 내마모성 시험에서는 최대 0.015g의 손실만이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 내구성 실험에서도 염소이온투과시험결과 코팅제가 도포된 변수에서는 염소이온의 투가가 거의 발생하지 않았으며, 탄산화와 동결융해 손상 또한 역시 거의 발생하지 않아 콘크리트의 내구성 확보에서도 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

Thickness evaluation of Cr coating fuel rod using encircling ECT sensor

  • To improve the safety and life extension qualities of nuclear fuel rods which is currently made of zirconium (Zr) alloy, research on the application of chromium (Cr) coating was conducted. Cr coating has advantages such as increased corrosion resistance and reduced oxidation rate, but non-destructive thickness evaluation studies are needed to ensure the reliability of the steps taken to provide uniform coating thickness. Eddy current testing (ECT) is a representative non-destructive technique for such as thickness evaluation and surface defect inspection. To inspect changes in thickness at micron scale, the Swept Frequency Eddy Current Testing (SFECT) method was applied to select a frequency range sensitive to changes in thickness. The coating thickness was evaluated using changes in signals, such as that for impedance. In this study, basic research was performed to evaluate the thickness of the Cr coating on a rod using an encircling sensor and the SFECT technique. The sensor design parameters were determined through simulation, after which the new sensor was manufactured. A sensor capable of measuring the thickness of a non-uniformly Cr-coating rod was selected through an experiment evaluating the performance of the manufactured sensor. This was done using the impedance-difference of a Cr-coating rod and a Zr alloy rod. The possibility of evaluation of the Cr coating thickness was confirmed by comparing the experimental results with the selected sensor and the signals of the measured Cr-coating rod. All simulation results were verified experimentally.

A study on the TiN coating applied to a rolling wire probe

  • In a rolling wire probe, a key component of an inspection apparatus for PDP electrode patterns, the electric performance of it is known to be strongly dependent on the surface condition of a collet pin, a needle pin, and a wire. However, the collet and needle pins rotate very rapidly in contact with each other, which results in the degradation of the surface by the heat and friction and finally the formation of black wear marks on the surface after a several hundred hours test. Once the black wear marks appear on the surface, the electric resistance of the probe increases sharply and so the integrity of the probe is severely damaged. In this experiment, TiN coating, which has excellent electric conductances and good wear-resistance, has been applied on the surface of collect and needle pins for preventing the surface damages. In order to achieve the homogeneous coating with a good adhesion property, special coating substrate stages and jigs were designed and applied during coating. TiN has been deposited using 99.999% Titanium target by a DC reactive sputtering method. According to the components and jigs, processing parameters, such as DC power, RF bias and the flow rate ratio of Ar and N$_2$ used as reactive gases, has been controlled to obtain good TiN films. Detailed problems and solutions for applying the new substrate stages and jigs will be discussed.

  • 전동차 중정비 시 대치차 기어의 비파괴검사 방법으로는 일반적으로 침투비파괴검사를 적용하고 있다. 침투비파괴검사는 결함의 미세한 개구부 속으로 침투액을 투입하여 표면에 잔류하는 여분의 침투액을 제거하고 현상제를 도포하여 결함지시 모양을 관찰하여 탐상하는 방법이다. 그러나 이 방법은 기어를 조립상태에서 침투비파괴검사를 실시하므로 많은 문제점이 있다. 치면의 각도가 급경사를 이루므로 충분한 침투가 어렵고 과잉제거의 문제가 있다. 그에 비해 자분비파괴검사는 표면 하 결함은 물론 미세한 결함 검출에 용이하다. 시험결과 치면에 응력이 집중되어 내부결함 및 미세결함이 존재하는 경우 침투비파괴검사로 발견되지 않는 경우가 있으나 자분비파괴 검사로 미세한 결함까지 발견 할 수 있었다. 따라서 전동차 대치차 기어의 합리적인 비파괴검사법은 자분을 사용한 비파괴검사가 적합하다고 판단한다.

콘크리트 구조물용 유황폴리머 표면보호재의 내구성능 및 생물독성 (Durability and Bioassay of a Sulfur Polymer Surface Protecting Agent for Concrete Structures)

  • 본 연구에서는 유황을 폴리머화하여 콘크리트 표면보호재로 활용가능성을 검토하기 위하여 내구성능 및 생물독성 평가를 실시하였다. 평가 결과, 콘크리트 표면보호재의 내화학성능은 산, 알칼리 용액에 대하여 화학저항성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 배합조건별 촉진내후성 실험 후 부착강도평가 결과 규사분말 및 플라이애시를 동시에 혼합한 배합에서 가장 우수한 강도특성을 나타내었다. 콘크리트용 표면보호재 시험체의 온냉반복 후에도 모든 배합조건에서 부착강도 1 MPa을 상회하였고, SFS배합에서 가장 높은 부착강도를 나타내었다. 표면보호재를 도포한 콘크리트의 촉진탄산화 및 염소이온침투저항성을 검토한 결과, 규사분말을 채움재로 사용한 표면보호재를 도포한 시험체에서 가장 우수한 내구성능을 나타내었다. 유황폴리머를 콘크리트 표면보호재로 사용시 생물독성 검토를 위해 어독성 실험을 수행한 결과, 유황폴리머는 생물에 미치는 영향은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 표면보호재의 내화학성, 동결융해저항성, 탄산화, 염소이온침투저항성 등을 모두 고려하여 볼 때, 본 연구범위에서는 유황폴리머에 채움재로서 규사분말과 플라이애시를 각각 20%씩 대체하는 것이 적절한 수준인 것으로 판단된다.

부식과 도장을 고려한 선체잔여수명예측시스템 설계 (Design of Hull Residual Life Prediction System Considering Corrosion and Coating)

  • In this paper, the design procedure and results for 'Residual Life Prediction System Considering Corrosion and Coating' are explained, which is one module of 'Life-cycle Management System of Ship and Offshore Plant's' Operation. This 'Residual Life Prediction System' has two main functions; one is residual life prediction function based on probability processing using corrosion measurement data of ship's major structural members, and another is rust rate prediction function based on visual image processing of inspection photos. The analysis of system user requirements and functions are introduced, and the structure and environment of the developed system are explained.
