Objectives : The purpose of this study is to get knowledge about osteopathy and to applicate the osteopathy to oriental medicine. Methods: We investigated several books and literatures on osteopathy related sites explored by internet to know the general theories and present conditions of osteopathy in Korea and other countries. Results & Conclusion : 1. The principles of osteopathy are as follows. First, the human being is a dynamic unit of function. Second, the body possesses self regulating mechanisms which are self healing in nature. Third, structure and function are reciprocally interrelated. Fourth, the body rational therapy is based upon knowledge and use of the above three principles. 2. Doctors of osteopathy evaluate the musculoskeletal system to identify structural problems and to support the body's natural tendency toward health and self healing. 3. We can applicate the osteopathy to oriental clinical medicine based on interpreting the principles of osteopathy.

Dr. Lawrence H Jones developed innovative approach for the treatment of neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal disorders such as fibromyalgia, myofacial pain syndrome, any other muscle pain. This technique is called Strain/Counterstrain technique which uses effect of neuromuscular reflex for treatment of strain. First, Relieving spinal or other joint pain by passively putting the joint into its position of greatest comfort; secondly relieving pain by reduction and arrest of the continuing inappropriate proprioceptor activity. This was accomplished by markedly shortening the muscle that contains the malfunctioning muscle spindle by applying. mild strain to its antagonists. In other words, the inappropriate strain reflex is inhibited by application of counterstrain. Many other techniques have been developed for treating of muscle pain due to somatic dysfunction, but we want to introduce you to strain/counterstrain technique because this is basic concept and theory of Chum therapy for controling motor system.

Until now, there have been no study about kinematic analysis of trunk with meridian muscular system. The purpose of this article is to contribute to the knowledge of meridian muscles of trunk that are related with breathing and basic movements. We research into respiration mechanics analysis and basic trunk movement analysis. And we suggest that the studies of the therapy that apply meridian muscles in trunk and respiration abnormality are more necessary.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the conservative treatment for FBSS patient. Methods : We used Herbal medication, Acupuncture, burning Acupuncture, Physical Therapy for this patient. And we measured of VAS and ODI score to evaluate treatment effects. Results : Patient's sciatica and sensory test has improved. VAS and ODI score were also decreased.

Objectives : This report is about a case of a patient who improvement in general condition, Infection and bowel after and urinary dysfunction. Methods : We diagnosed that symptoms as Wejeung(?證), and employed oriental medical treatments, herb medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion and physical therapy. Results : In the first case, neurologic impairment was aggravated despite of 15 days of treatments. In the second case, motor and defecation was improved. Conclusions : There is no specific treatment for acute transverse myelitis in the Western medicine. Several case reports revealed clinical improvement of subacute or chronic transverse myelitis in the oriental medicine. We anticipated that the researches regarding treatment for acute transverse myelitis in the oriental medicine will be encouraged in the near future.

Objectives : This report is about a case of a patient who improvement in general condition, Infection and dysphagia after poststroke seizure. Methods : We observed a patiet who received treatment in hospital because of stroke sequelae. Her symptoms were left hemiplegia, right hemiparesis, dysphagia, dyspnea, sputum and general weakness, and acupunture and herb medicine were applied. Results : Stroke is the most common cause of seizures in the elderly. The impact of late onset GTC(generalized tonic-clonic) seizures is associated with worse outcomes. Conclusion : The patient of this case was attacked by intracerebal hemorrhage, cerebaral infarction and GTC seizures. Since then her neurologic disorder was progressed. As the treatments of the patient, herb medication and acupuncture therapy were applied and she got a wide improvement of dysphagia, dyspnea, URI sign and general condition.

This is a case report about left leg radiating pain treated with complex traditional Korean medical intervention, while the case did not responded to prolotherapy and extracorporeal shock wave treatment for lumbar herniated intervertebral disc (HIVD). The patient was diagnosed with a piriformis problem after a physical examination and was treated with lumbar and piriformis muscle treatment. After 9 sessions of treatment for 33 days, Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for pain has been decreased from 8 to 3. Further studies with more cases and longer observation period should be conducted to provide evidence for optimum acupuncture procedure considering its effectiveness, safety and patients' compliance altogether.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effectiveness of Traditional Korean therapy on coccygodynia and depression of postpartum. Methods : The patient in this case was 27-year-old female. The chief complains were coccygodynia and depression. She was treated by Traditional Korean medicine, acupuncture and Chuna Manipulation. The progress of symptoms was evaluated by visual analogue scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI). Results : After those Traditional Korean therapy, most symptoms were improved. Coccygodynia and uncomfortableness in normal life improved, and ODI was decreased from 35 to 17. Conclusion : This case shows that Traditional Korean therapy might be effective in decreasing symptoms on coccygodynia and depression of postpartum.
