헌터증후군 환아 어머니의 양육경험 (Life Experiences of Mothers in Parenting Children with Hunter's Syndrome)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of Korean mothers in parenting children with Hunter's syndrome, an X linked recessive genetically inherited disease usually affecting boys. Methods: Data were collected from 14 mothers having children with Hunter's syndrome, through two focus group interviews and individual in-depth interviews. Qualitative data from the field notes and transcribed notes were analyzed using the grounded theory methodology developed by Strauss & Corbin (1998). Results: The core category about the process of rearing children with Hunter's syndrome was identified as "navigating in the maze". The process of rearing children with Hunter's syndrome passed through three phases; 'entering an unknown region', 'struggling to escape from the unknown region', 'settling down in the unknown region'. Conclusion: In this study "navigating in the maze", as the core category deeply showed joys and sorrows of mothers in the process of rearing their children with Hunter's syndrome. In this rearing process they gradually adjusted themselves to their given condition. Also they gained initiatively coping strategies to care for, and protect their children. Therefore health care providers can establish supportive programs in the clinical field to empower these mothers by reflecting their proactive coping strategies.

  • 동일본 대지진 이후부터 피해자들의 증언을 정리한 보도와 서적 등이 간행되어 당시의 피난 상황을 알려지게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 자료 중 어린이들의 피난 상황 정보는 매우 적으며 지진이나 해일에 의해 어린이들이 어떤 행동을 취하고 피난을 했는지에 대해서는 충분히 밝혀지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 동일본 대지진에서 아이들의 피난 행동을 분석 및 고찰하여 향후 예상되는 재난에 대한 어린이들의 피난 행동에 관한 예측을 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. ‥‥(중략)‥‥

사회성 훈련 프로그램에 참가한 학령 초기 아동의 사회적 행동 변화에 대한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study of Early School-age Children's Experiences on Social Skills Training Program)

  • 본 연구에서는 학령 초기 아동의 사회적 행동을 향상시키기 위한 사회성 훈련 프로그램을 개발하고, 프로그램 실행 과정에서 나타나는 아동의 사회적 행동을 관찰하여 변화의 과정을 질적 분석을 통해 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 김민정(2008)의 사회적 기술훈련을 수정 보완하여 7명의 초등학교 1학년 아동을 대상으로 8회기의 프로그램을 실시한 후, 참여관찰 노트, 프로그램 진행자의 일지, 보조진행자의 칭찬 노트, 비디오 녹화 자료, 아동의 그림일기 자료들을 전사, 코딩, 주제의 발견 단계를 거쳐 분석하였다. 그 결과, 아동의 사회적 행동과 관련하여 다음과 같은 주제를 도출하였다. 첫째, 관계형성의 시작: (1) 수줍음과 정서적 위축, (2) 자기만의 세계에 몰입, (3) 나누기' 및 '함께하기'의 어려움, (4) 타인과의 부정적 상호작용, (5) 사회적 규칙준수의 어려움. 둘째, 정서 및 의사표현의 변화: 분명하고 직접적인 정서 및 의사표현. 셋째, 친사회성의 변화: (1) 주위에 대한 관심 및 상호작용 증진, (2) 협동 놀이, (3) '나누기' 및 '도움주기'등의 베푸는 행동. 넷째, 사회적 기술의 변화: (1) 사회적 규칙의 인식 및 실천, (2) 사회적 문제 해결하기. 본 연구는 질적 연구를 통해 사회성 훈련 프로그램이 학령 초기 아동의 사회적 기술과 정서표현에 미치는 긍정적 변화를 관찰함으로써 그 효과를 확인하였다.

가작화 놀이와 이야기 만들기에서 나타나는 유아의 마음 다루기 (Children's Theory of Mind in Pretend Play and Story-Making)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's theory of mind in pretend play and story-making, from a qualitative perspective. Three-to-five year old children participated in group play and individual story-making activities. Children's narratives undertaken in two tasks were video-taped, transcribed, analyzed and reorganized into three key propositions, in consideration of the field notes that the researcher had taken. The children started their pretend play and story-making activities by 'forming connections among minds' of participants or story components. They continued to engage in pretend play and story making by 'dealing minds constructively and consistently' to keep their themes. Finally they resolved discordances in play and story-making by 'settings different mind windows and moving among them flexibly'.

유아의 음악능력과 음악 보존개념의 발달(I)-유아의 성과 연령이 미치는 영향을 중심 으로- (The Development of Young Children's Musical Abilities and Musical Conservation Concepts by Their Sex and Age.)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate developmental of young children's musical abilityes and musical conservation concepts. Two kinds of test were administered to 117 children aged 5-to 7-year-old. The musical ability test consisted of 30 tape-recorded questions regarding 5 musical ability domains, while the musical conservation test consisted of 17 questions regarding 4 musical conservation concept domains. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1)there was a significant difference in young children's musical abilities according to their sex and age. Girls developed their musical abilities better than boys did. Older children noticeable improved their musical abilities, especially, in such three domains as listening musical and rhythmic activities and playing musical instruments. 2)There was a significant difference in young children's musical conservation concepts according to their age, but not according to their sex. Older children improved musical conservation concepts specifically, in rhythm ,number of notes and duration conservation concepts. 3) the results of stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that the most influence in variable on the musical conservation concepts was musical ability, then followed by children's age and sex. Some suggestions for future research and for the ways to increase musical abilities were discussed.

유아음악교육의 통합적 접근을 위한 이론적 고찰 (A Theoretical Consideration for Integrated Approach of Young Children's Music Education)

  • This study investigated the relationship between musical understanding and expression, the purpose of music education. It also intended to present the theoretical basis of integrated early childhood music education by examining into the necessity of it as a method to help young children with musical understanding and expression. The results of the study showed that either of the understanding and expression of music should be necessary and there is a mutual promotional relationship between them. It was found out that real musical understanding can be formed not by mechanical skill, but when the relationship between notes is understood with various experiences. Therefore an integrated early childhood music education became necessary as a principle of educational method to help young children with musical understanding and musical expression. Concretely it was found out to be necessary in terms of the characteristics, interest and concern of young children, the use and development of multi intelligence and the translation of the same knowledge into the same level.

어린이집 내 장난감도서관 구성에 대한 유아들의 이야기 (Children's Story on Spatial Composition in a Child Care Center Toy Library)

  • The aim of this study is to examine children's desires in a toy library and what they want to do there in order to reflect their opinions on constructing a toy library in a child care center. The study has been conducted by participatory observation on a 'toy library' project consisting of 20 five-year-olds attending B public child care center in Seoul. Observational notes were taken with voice and video recordings. The results of analysis on collected data are as follows. First, the children wanted to call the toy library a toy playground because a toy library is not for study but for play and they wanted space for rest and display with no surveillance camera. Second, they wanted to play freely without any interruption, even leaving things scattered and also wanted to play with parents and friends. Discussion followed in the view of children's right to play and to express their opinions.

해결중심단기놀이치료의 개발과 치료 기법에 대한 아동의 반응 (Development of a Solution-Focused Brief Play Therapy and Children's Responses to Its Therapeutic Techniques)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a 'Solution-Focused Brief Play Therapy' and analyze children's responses to its various therapeutic techniques. The participants were three boys and three girls, all aged between 11 and 10 years, living in an orphanage on the outskirts of Seoul. Each child received 7-10 therapy sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. All sessions were video-taped and recorded verbatim. These data, along with the observational notes recorded by the researcher, were subjected to a qualitative data analysis(Creswell, 2002). The results showed not only that children set their goals and evaluated themselves objectively but also suggested solutions to meet their goals by doing something meaningful to themselves.

그림책을 이용한 유아 창의극 활동에서의 유아 반응에 대한 탐구 (A Study of Creative Drama Activities for Young Children Based on Picture Books)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore children's experiences in a series of creative drama activities based around the use of picture books. The subjects were a total of 17 children 4 years of age. The research, implemented over the courses of 10 weeks, was integrated into their daily education curriculum. The children's drama activities were collected by participant observation, field notes, audio and videotape transcriptions, documentation of the young children's drama activities (eg. pantomimes, role plays & improvised expression, improvisations). The analysis reveals the following findings : 1) even shy and passive young children tried to participate in pantomime activities after reading books. 2) In role play & improvised expression activities, young children were immersed in the improvised situation and spontaneously expressed their emotions and thoughts as actors without the use of any scripts, in an impromptu manner. 3) In improvisation, young children collaborated with other children to create the improvisation by extending or transforming the content of the picture books through their own ideas.

The Korean Fricatives in Acquisition: A Case Study

  • Korean has a pair of voiceless fricatives, whose laryngeal manifestation comes in parallel to stops and affricates with a three-way lexical contrast. Prior phonetic studies by Kagaya (1974), Iverson (1983), and Kang (1999, 2000) point out /s/ is associated with multiple characteristics of the larynx shared with not only the lax but also the aspirated series, whereas /s' / carries a laryngeal distinction typical of the tense consonants. The complex dual nature of /s/ is again supported by a psycholinguistic study by Kang (2004), as /s/ was found to interact with /$c^h$/ (17% of the time) as well as /c/ (57%) in speech errors. In addition, a recent work by Cho and Lee (2003) notes an interesting chain shift case in the acquisition of the fricatives. Although they observed a significant phonological pattern between child English and Korean, Cho and Lee's description of acquiring fricatives is far from being precise from the perspective of phonetics. From a longitudinal study of recorded tapes by two children at 1;7-3;8 and 1;7-2;1 respectively, I found that /s' / was usually substituted into tense noncontinuants in young children's early production as predicted, whereas /s/ having both lax and aspirated-like glottal properties revealed a complicated pattern of substitutions into lax, tense, and aspirated noncontinuants with a varying degree of preference relative to the subjects. The current acquisition study supports the previous claims concerning fricatives in other languages, showing that their acquisition comes after stops. Besides, it also notes that Korean fricatives are subject to a series of phonological processes called stopping, affricating, tensifying and palatalizing during the transitional period of phonological development by young children. Moreover, between the two voiceless types, /s/ was acquired earlier than /s'/ as the unmarked segment.
