The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between early childhood teachers' play teaching efficacy and play sensitivity and children's play immersion, and to investigate the effect of play teaching efficacy and play sensitivity on children's play immersion. To this end, a survey was conducted targeting 359 early childhood teachers working in kindergartens and daycare centers located in J province. The research tools used in this study were 'Efficacy in Play Teaching' and 'Teacher's Play Sensitivity Scale' targeting teachers and 'Infant Play Immersion Test' targeting infants. As a result of the study, first, the correlation between play teaching efficacy and play sensitivity and young children's play immersion showed that there was a positive correlation between all variables other than the transformation of the sense of time among the teacher's play sensitivity sub-factors and play observation and children's play immersion sub-factors. Second, as a result of examining the effect of teacher's play teaching efficacy and play sensitivity on young children's play immersion, it was found to have a partially statistically significant effect.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parent play support beliefs and children's playfulness on children's ego-resiliency. Methods: The participants for this study were 236 young children aged 3 to 5, their parents, and teachers in 19 daycare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Descriptive statistics, bivariate correlations, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. Results: The major findings were summarized as follows. First, overall, the level of parents' play support beliefs, children's playfulness and ego-resiliency tended to be high in the present sample. Second, mothers' play support beliefs and children's active participation in play were significantly and positively associated with children's ego-resiliency. Third, parents' play support beliefs had no moderation effect on the effects of children's playfulness on their ego-resiliency. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggest that parents' play support beliefs and children's playfulness are effective in improving children's ego-resiliency.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mothers'play belief and their children's playtime on self-determination of young children. Methods: Participants of this study were 239 mothers of 6-year-old children attending childcare centers. An online self-report survey method was implemented to investigate whether mothers appreciate the contribution of play on their children's development, if mothers allow their children's playtime, and to examine the level of self-determination of their children. SPSS 22.0 was conducted for descriptive statistics and AMOS 21.0 was used for the path analysis to investigate the hypothetical relationship among variables. Results: Mothers' play support belief had a direct influence on their children's self-determination, while young children's playtime that was also affected by their mothers' play support belief had an indirect effect on their self-determination. Conclusion/Implications: The research shows that children's self-determination can be fostered by providing time to play when they can make decisions and demonstrate goal directed behaviors, and by providing an atmosphere that emphasizes the importance of playing in one's childhood.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of children's multiple intelligences and temperaments on their play behaviors. In order to achieve this, 155 mothers and 21 teachers of children aged 4 to 6 years old were invited to participate in an observe-reported survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS version 18.0. It was found that both multiple intelligences and temperament types have partial influences on play behaviors of young children; it was confirmed that among multiple intelligences of children, logical-mathematical intelligence influences onlooker behaviors in a positive way, body-kinesthetic intelligence has a positive effect on rough-and-tumble play, and musical intelligence positively affects social play during free-choice play. Also, children with a difficult temperament were more likely to participate in solitary play than children with a slow temperament. These results imply that teachers' guidance and involvement of children's play should differ by types of temperament and levels of multiple intelligence in children.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the environmental factors relating to children's outdoor play and to assess how the residential neighborhood is suitable for play in the perception of parents. Based on a citywide survey of 500 parents of elementary school students in grades 1-4 in Seoul, this empirical study shows that children's outdoor play environments in residential neighborhoods of Seoul have been observed to be overall unsuitable for play activity. Three physical environmental factors (spatial availability, neighborhood attractiveness, and street difficulties) and three social environmental factors (fear of crime, social interactions, and psychological comfort) are related to children's play activity. Five factors, with the exception of the psychological comfort factor, impact the suitability of children's outdoor play environment. Specifically, it is the physical environment, rather than the social environment, that was deemed unsuitable in spite of its impacts. These findings help us understand the current conditions of neighborhood play environments associated with children's play activity. It is necessary to improve parents' perceptions of the play environment and children's play activities by improving the physical environment.
Purpose: This study was done to analyze children's play during hospitalization. Method: Data were collected from 36 play situations of hospitalized children, ages 2 to 6, hospitalized at 4 general hospitals, one in each city, Seoul, Suwon, Daejeon and Daegu. All observations were made in pediatric units during free-play periods. Each child was observed for 5 minutes at each observation and observed three times at each play session. Results: Of the children, 83.3% played on the bed. Play partners were mainly mothers. While 75.0% of children actively took part in play activity and 70.0% played with joy, 63.9% of play partners were more passive in the play. The most frequent play material was a small toy. The level of play was early stage of social and cognitive play, and dramatic play was observed in a few children over the age of 3 years. The play activities were conversional play, reflections of therapeutic procedures, imagination, and exploratory play. In the conversional play, children converted hospital equipments into play materials. Conclusion: It is recommended that health care team members should pay attention and actively participate in play of hospitalized children in order to help them have some control over the stress of the situation.
Subjects in this study on causal relationships among playfulness, interactive peer play, teacher-child relationships, and creative characteristics were 286 3- to 5-year-old children. Instruments were the Rating Scale for Creative Characteristic of Preschoolers (Lee et al., 2002), Children's Playfulness Scale (Bemett, 1990), Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale (Fantuzzo et al., 1995), and Student Teacher Relationship Scale (Pianta, 1991). Results showed : (1) significant relationships among social spontaneous, cognitive spontaneous and children's humor in sub-areas of children's playfulness, friendliness in sub-areas of teacher-child relationships, play interaction in sub-areas of interactive peer play and creative characteristics. (2) Children's creative characteristics directly influenced social spontaneous, cognitive spontaneous and children's humor in sub-areas of children's playfulness and of play interaction in sub-areas of interactive peer play.
This study investigated how kindergarten teachers apply children's traditional play to educational curriculum and how kindergarten children engaged in traditional play. The subjects of this study were 120 kindergarten teachers and their 2930 5-year-old kindergarten children. Data were gathered through questionnaires. The results showed that most teachers included children's traditional play in educational curriculum as indoor and outdoor play activities, but they had difficulties in this process by lack of play materials and their knowledge of children's traditional play. The results also showed that kindergarten children played "Yut" most frequently and, in most cases, they engaged in traditional play in ways which were adjusted to their developmental level and life style.

Results: First, elementary school teachers' perception of the enactment of the 'Ordinance on Children's Right to Play' is high. And their perception is positive about the effect of the 'Ordinance on Children's Right to Play'. Second, among the roles of the Office of Education, play-related training and club support were relatively low. The role of the elementary school director was relatively low in the analysis and disclosure of play performance. Third, the time that children mainly play in school is the middle play time. The sufficiency and safety of play spaces differed by region. Fourth, the contents to be added to the 'Ordinance' are securing play space, budget support, and mandatory play time.
