Most of the systems were free-nursing homes and supported by the goverment. Staffing structure revealed that most of the facilities had a director, a secretary, nurses, but only 21% of the systerm hired a dietitian. It showed the shortage of nurses, physical therapists, and dietitians. Therefore, food purchasing, menu planning, food delivery, and the other food service management processes are handled by non-professionals, such as director, secretary, or cooks. Modified fool frequency questionnaire were used to get the frequencies of each food items used in menu and a menu-analysis was made on the one-day menu provided by the facilities. The results showed relatively satisfactory in nutrients content and food frequencies., however, this was about what was used in menu, not what was eaten by the residents. Therefore this results did not tell that the food intake status of individuals. In most facilities general health checkup was done on a regular basis, and had residents with various chronic degenerative diseases, such as hypertension, neuralgia, stroke, arthritis, diabetes. But the items checked on health checkup included weight, height, blood and urine tests, X-ray test, which suggested that the checkup lists should be revised to accomodate the health problem of the aged today.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of blood pressures, hematological and blood biochemical properties according to the degree of obesity based on differential combinations of BMI in health checkup examinees. Study subjects were 3,731 adults of 20 years and over (2,312 males, 1,419 females), not recognized as taking medicines for or having cardiovascular diseases, who underwent health package check-up at the Korea Association of Health Promotion, Daejeon Branch from Jan. 2007 to Dec. 2009. As a results, the mean values of SBP, DBP, TG, TC, LDL-C, ALT, AST, GGT, ALP were significantly increased with higher level of BMI, but the HDL-C was significantly decreased with higher level of BMI. On correlation of BMI with various factors, the BMI was positively correlated with SBP, DBP, TG, TC, LDL-C and GGT, while the HDL-C was negatively correlated. Based on the result of ordinal logistic regression analysis, the risk ratio to the abnormal level of SBP, DBP, TG, ALT and GGT were significantly increased as BMI increased.

The gaps between them and the others were statistically significant. The DMFT index of the users of oral hygiene supplies was 12.3, which was high, but the difference between them and the others was not statistically significant. 2. The DT rate of those who got a dental checkup on a regular basis stood at 20.8 percent, which was low. The gap between them and the others was statistically significant. Both the MT and FT rates of the former numbered 28.8 percent, which was low, but the gap between them and the others was statistically insignificant. The DMFT index of the respondents who got a regular dental checkup was 12.8, which was high, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant. 3. The DT and FT rates of respondents who had ever had their teeth scaled respectively stood at 24.6 and 27.1 percent, which were both low, and the differences between them and the others were statistically significant. The MT rate of the former was 27.1 percent, which was low, but the gap between them and the others was statistically insignificant. The DMFT index of those who had ever had their teeth scaled was 12.2, which was high, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant.
