  • This paper presents a new approach to the problem of designing a cascaded three-parameters controller for a given linear time invariant (LTD plant in unity feedback system. We consider a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and a first-order controller with specified overshoot and settling time. This problem is difficult to solve because there may be no analytical solution due to the use of low-order controller and furthermore. the zeros of controller just appear in the zeros of feedback system. The key idea of our method is to impose a constraint on the controller parameters so that the zeros of resulting controller are distant from the dominant pole of closed-loop system to the left as far as the given interval. Two methods realizing the idea are suggested. We have employed the characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) in order to deal with the time response specifications. It is noted that the proposed methods are accomplished only in parameter space. Several illustrative examples are given.

  • This paper deals with the problem of robust pole-assignment control for linear systems with structured uncertainty. It considers two cases whose colsed-loop characteristic equations are presented as a family of interval polynomial and polytopic polynomial family respectively. We propose a method of finding the pole-placement region in which the fixed gain controller guarantees the required damping ratio and stability margin despite parameter perturbation. Some results of Kharitonov like stability and two kinds of transformations are included. As an illustrative example, we show that the proposed method can apply effectivly to the single magnet levitation system including some uncertainties (mass, inductance etc.).

  • This paper presents that a transient response can be characterized by certain parameters which are correlated to characteristic polynomial coefficients. These are characteristic ratios and characteristic pulsatances by P. Naslin [4]. We have developed an approach to control directly the transient response. Firstly, speed of the response can be controlled by reconstruction form via multipliable characteristic pulsatances. Secondly, overshoot is controlled by reconstruction form via multipliable characteristic ratios. These formulas can be independently characterized by the system overshoot and the response time to a step input.

  • 위성통신에서는 낮은 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio), 높은 전송효율, 낮은 BER(Bit Error Rate)을 갖는 변조 기술이 요구되며, DAPSK(Differential Amplitude and Phase Shift Keying) 변조는 이러한 요구조건을 만족시킬 수 있는 기술로 평가되고 있다. 그러나 기존 DAPSK 변조는 정규적인 성좌도를 사용하기 때문에 성좌도의 안쪽 동심원에 존재하는 심볼들의 유클리디안(Euclidean) 거리가 매우 가까워서 높은 성능을 내기에 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 기존 DAPSK 시스템의 성능을 개선하기 위하여 대조표 기반의 효율적인 성좌도 배치법을 사용하는 DAPSK 시스템을 제안하고 성능을 평가한다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 기존 16-DAPSK 시스템과 비교하여 효율적인 성좌도 배치법을 사용하는 16-DAPSK 시스템은 수신 심볼 검출기에 사용되는 심볼의 수 K가 2일 때, $10^{-4}$의 BER 성능을 만족시키기 위한 SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio)을 약 0.8 dB 개선할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • In this note, we present a different asymptotes from the standard approximate lines of the Bode magnitude plot. Wherein the pseudo break frequency is defined in terms of coefficients of denominator and numerator polynomials of the transfer function instead of its poles and zeros. Several comparative examples are given. This result can be used for the characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) [1], [2] with frequency response requirements, which is a method of designing linear controller in parameter space.

  • In consideration of current circumstances which management activities for safety performance on construction sites are mostly controlled by safety personnel, it is necessary to maintain qualified safety personnel those who are experienced and have adequate ability. This is a major factor in order to prevent any of work related incident in the construction site. However, the existing standard which enforces certain number of safety personnel in the construction site aligning with respective contract amount could lead to difficulties for proactive safety management. So, it is required to get improvement on the existing standard. In nominating the proper number of safety personnel, it would be more efficient to consider the level of risk for characteristic of work itself and the total number of manpower mobilized in respective construction work, rather than to follow the existing standard of manpower ratio as per the contract amount. Hence, this study aims to propose several plans which enable to improve the existing standard for assignment of safety personnel on construction sites.

  • It is difficult to find for analysis solution of the synchronous generator exciter system. Recently, it had good performance UPS converter system using CRA method. The single converter of synchronous generator excitor system under considerations : (i) the overall system shall keep very low AC-voltage tracking error as well as no phase delay over different load condition, and (ii) the digital controller shall be employed at a fixed sampling. It is shown that the synchronous exciter system can be achieved by the proposed controller using Characteristic Ratio Assignment.
