As environmental concerns grow, people are becoming more aware of energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable development. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is currently the most widely recognized building environment assessment method connected to energy and the environment worldwide. This study explores trends for six factors (energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, sustainable sites, water efficiency, and innovation in design) to assess four levels of LEED certification (Platinum, gold, silver, and certified) using 11,209 LEED projects in the United States. The study analyzes trends using scores of percentages of maximum points by certification level, ownership type, space type, and climate zones. With the interest in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principle on the rise, this study contributes to a better understanding of the trends and future of LEED certification in the built environment sector.

It is very important to evaluate how the functions of products, facilities, and spaces affect human life. The evaluation of these actions has legal regulations such as certification, inspection, and diagnosis, and the degree of quality, safety, and excellence of the results is announced. This study sought to secure safety through efficient system operation by reviewing safety-related certification systems established and implemented by each government department in Korea and analyzing the characteristics of each system and similarities between systems. There was also an aspect of cross-checking safety through the certification and diagnosis system implemented by each ministry, but it was confirmed that the efficiency of the system should also be considered in terms of overlapping application. Therefore, when securing safety is confirmed based on each safety-related law, active alternatives such as exemption, substitution, delegation, etc. should be presented.

본 연구의 목적은 ISO14001 인증 취득 현황조사를 통해 강원지역 중소기업의 환경경영 실태와 과제를 파악하고 환경경영의 활성화를 위한 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2003년 4월 현재 우리나라의 ISO14001 인증획득 업체수는 1,215개 업체인데 비해 강원지역 중소기업의 ISO14001 인증획득 업체는 광역지방자치단체 중 최하위 수준인 26개 업체에 불과하였다. 둘째, 인증 미획득 기업들이 인증을 받지 않으려는 이유로 '인증 획득 및 유지에 소요되는 비용이 효익보다 크다'는 점을 제시하였다. 셋째, ISO14001 인증을 획득한 기업이나 ISO14001 인증 미획득 기업이나 인증을 획득한(하려는) 가장 큰 이유는 '기업의 이미지 향상'이었으며, 인증 획득기업이 환경경영시스템 도입 후 얻은 효과도 '기업의 이미지 향상'으로 나타났다. 넷째, ISO14001 인증을 획득한 기업들은 환경경영시스템을 도입할 때 문제점으로 '문서작성 및 비용에 관한 부담'과 '인력 부족'에 관한 응답이 많았다. 위와 같은 연구의 주요 결과를 바탕으로 강원지역 중소기업의 환경경영 활성화를 위한 과제와 방안을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, ISO14001 인증 미획득 기업 대부분이 ISO14001에 대한 인지도가 낮아 이에 대한 지속적이고 적극적인 홍보와 교육 및 연수제도가 필요하다는 점이다. 둘째, 환경경영 관련 인력이 부족함으로 전문 인력의 양성을 위한 교육프로그램의 실시, 보조금 지급의 확대, 전담부서 및 상담창구의 개설, 관련 정보의 데이터 베이스화나 소프트웨어의 개발이 필요하다. 셋째, 저렴한 비용과 간단한 절차를 통해 인증을 받을 수 있는 중소기업용 공적 인증제도의 신설, 혹은 단체인증제도, 공단 인증제도 등을 적극 고려할 필요가 있다.

본 연구는 중소규모 기업이 밀집해 있는 지역에 소재한 중소규모 기업 대표 및 인사담당자를 대상으로 가족친화경영 및 가족친화인증에 대한 인식을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 2017년 10월부터 11월까지 기업 대표 및 인사담당자 6인을 대상으로 초점집단면접을 실시하였다. 본 연구결과 연구참여자들이 속한 기업 중 가족친화인증을 받은 기업은 없었으나, 모든 기업에서 출산전후휴가, 육아휴직, 근로시간 단축 등 다양한 가족친화제도를 운영하고 있었다. 또한 중소규모 기업에서도 가족친화경영의 필요성을 인식하고 있었으나 소규모 기업의 특수성, 제도 확대에 따른 부담, 제도 도입의 복잡성 등과 같은 가족친화경영 및 가족친화제도 도입에 따른 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 각 기업의 상황에 따라 가족친화 인증 참여 의지는 다르게 나타났으나, 연구참여자들은 가족친화경영의 필요성을 인지함에 따라 CEO 교육 확대, 가족친화제도 도입에 대한 사회적 분위기 조성, 홍보 확대 및 제도의 간소화 등을 중소규모 기업의 가족친화경영 및 가족친화인증 참여 확대 방안으로 이야기하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 중소규모 기업의 가족친화경영 및 가족친화인증 참여를 확산하기 위한 정책 마련에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Recently, many Korean firms have suffered financial losses and damaged firm's trust due to information security incidents. Hence, a lot of firms have realized the importance of the information security. In particular, the demand for information security certification has increased. This study examined the effect of information security certification using the event study methodology. Our research shows that the announcement of the information security certification significantly influences the market value of the corresponding firm. The certified firms rise, on average, o.4993% (-2 day), 0.5462% (+1 day) of their market value. Further, we found that the financial sector in our data showed a 1.4% higher abnormal returns than the nonfinancial sector. On the other hand, whether a firm first acquired the information security certification is not significant. Our paper presents that it is possible to analyze the effect of the information security certification using the event study. We are expected to be used in making a decision for the investment of information security. Also, our results indicate that the firm which have acquired the information security certification should actively announce that fact.

Over the world, social demands and concerns of energy and resource depletions and environmental conservation have resulted in many researches and applications on sustainable development and construction. In order to support these demands and concerns, international green building certification systems such as LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) were developed. In Korea, the green building certification system was introduced in 2000 and widely applied to all types of new buildings in order to induce the diffusion of sustainable buildings on May, 2010. This paper investigates the importance of assessment criteria on multi-unit apartment projects among certification rating systems using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and suggests a new direction on certification assessment standards. For applying the AHP method, the survey of staffs in green building certification consulting companies and architectural design companies was conducted via e-mail. As a result, criteria like energy, indoor environment, land use, pollution control, and ecological environment among 9 main ones turned out important on assessing green building certification at multi-unit apartment projects, while criteria like water resource, transportation, maintenance management, and material and resource did relatively unimportant.

Structural qualification plan (SQP) for aerospace vehicle is based on material certification methodology, which must be approved by certification authority. It is internationally required to use of statistically based material allowables to design aerospace vehicles with aerospace materials. In order to comply with this regulation, it is necessary to establish relatively large amount of database, which increases test costs and time. Recently NASA/FAA develop the new methodology which results in cost, time, and risk reduction, and satisfies the regulation at the same time. This paper summarizes the certification methodology of materials system as a part of structural qualification plan (SQP) of aerospace vehicles and also thermal management of the vehicle system, like thermal protection materials system and thermally conductive material system. Materials design allowable was determined using this method for a carbon/epoxy composite material.

Many organizations require their current and perspective employees to obtain industry-based certification to maintain, and seek promotions. However, many certifications are simple knowledge based examinations that reward memorization instead of actual performance. With industry's increased reliance and demand to hire certified professionals, there is much more dishonesty, as well as incompetence, entering the system. This paper examines the issues and difficulties faced by organizations trying to hire IT staff based on current certification methodologies and recommends that IT assessments should be shifted from knowledge-based to performance-based examinations through the use of scenario-based simulations. It also demonstrates how to integrate simulations into certification and assessment testing using a proposed digital forensics certification as an example.

This study focuses on halal certification from the viewpoint of Malaysian restaurant managers. The increasing demand of halal food from the Muslim and non-Muslim consumers has given a good indicator to the hospitality industry to have the eating establishments halal certified. A sample of 643 restaurant managers has been selected throughout Malaysia using systematic sampling. Questionnaires were distributed using mail survey and data was then entered to SPSS version 21 for further analysis. It is gathered from the descriptive statistics that cleanliness during food preparation, meaning of halal and halal certification is important when dealing with food in a Malaysian restaurant setting. The results indicated that restaurant managers have high expectations toward halal certification. Furthermore, halal certification does generate some benefits beyond religion that contribute to Malaysia's positioning as a tourism destination and global halal hub.

The concern of green building has been increased with an environmental problem or a rising oil price by industrialization. Therefore offices, schools and some buildings are expected to acquire the green building certification increasingly, but the information such as a process of green building certification, the state of certificated buildings, a score as specific clauses on green building certification is to seek. For not only school facilities make an effect to an student's learning achievement, but is the place where adolescents in a period of growth almost spend their life, eco-friendly school facilities is absolutely required. For this reason, systematizing the information related with the green building certification is to be needed in school field as well Therefore the effort to systematize certification management of eco-friendly school and provide information of certificated building, certification application procedure and sources related with certification for convenience is needed. Also reference material to decrease an inefficient time and expenses and to systematize certification evaluation is be able to beneficial. On the study, for such as the purpose above-mentioned, as the appraisal standard with 12 selected schools randomly is arranged. Based on the assessed scores table, features or something in common as a cause of the score change between preliminary and main certification is to be classified and anaylized.
