EIGENVALUES FOR THE SEMI-CIRCULANT PRECONDITIONING OF ELLIPTIC OPERATORS WITH THE VARIABLE COEFFICIENTS

  • We investigate the eigenvalues of the semi-circulant preconditioned matrix for the finite difference scheme corresponding to the second-order elliptic operator with the variable coefficients given by $L_vu\;:=-{\Delta}u+a(x,\;y)u_x+b(x,\;y)u_y+d(x,\;y)u$, where a and b are continuously differentiable functions and d is a positive bounded function. The semi-circulant preconditioning operator $L_cu$ is constructed by using the leading term of $L_vu$ plus the constant reaction term such that $L_cu\;:=-{\Delta}u+d_cu$. Using the field of values arguments, we show that the eigenvalues of the preconditioned matrix are clustered at some number. Some numerical evidences are also provided.

  • The influence of sine wave striated surface roughness on load carrying capacity of a bearing is studied for thin film effect of slider bearing. A Reynolds equation appropriate for slider bearing is used in this paper for analysis and it is discussed using finite difference method of central difference scheme. For a slider bearing with sine wave simple roughness form, several parameters such as pressure, load capacity and shear stress of the bearing can be obtained and also this results can be stored in sequential data file for latter analysis. After all, their distribution can be displayed and analyzed easily by using the matlab GUI technique. The parameters such as amplitude, number of waviness and slope of the surface are used for discussing the load carrying capacity of the rectangular bearing. The results reported in this paper should be applied to the other slider bearing such as rectangular or round embossed surface of slider bearing.

  • The influence of round embossed surface on slider bearing characteristics and its load carrying capacity is discussed for thin film effect of embossed slider bearing. For the numerical computation of lubrication parameters such as pressure, load capacity and shear stress that are normalized and a Reynolds equation is used for the analysis of embossed slider bearing characteristics. For this purpose, the finite difference method of central difference scheme is used in this study. In a slider bearing with embossed form, several simulation parameters such as pressure, load capacity and shear stress of the bearing can be obtained according to independent parameters such as the slope of the slider bearing and number of embossing in the upper slider. Also this results can be summarized and be stored in sequential data file for latter analysis. After all, their distribution of the pressure and shear stress parameters can be displayed and be analyzed easily by using the developed program with matlab GUI technique. The independent parameters such as a number of embossing and a slope of the embossed surface slider are used for discussing simulation parameters of pressure distribution, shear stress and load carrying capacity of the round embossing. These study results reported in this paper should be applied to the other shaped slider bearing with a rectangular embossed surface or rectangular waved surface.

천음속 압축기 동익을 지나는 삼차원 유동의 수치해석 (Numerical Calculation of Three-Dimensional F1ow through A Transonic Compressor Rotor)

  • Three-dimensional flow analysis is implemented to investigate the flow through transonic axial-flow compressor rotor(NASA R67) and to evaluate the performances of Abid's low-Reynolds-number k-$\omega$ and Baldwin-Lomax turbulence models. A finite volume method is used fur spatial discretization. The equations are solved implicitly in time by the use of approximate factorization. The upwind difference scheme is used for inviscid terms and viscous terms are approximated with central difference. The flux-difference-splitting method of Roe is used to obtain fluxes at the cell faces. Numerical analysis is performed near peak efficiency and near stall. The results are compared with the experimental data for NASA R67 rotor. Blade-to-Blade Mach number distributions are compared to confirm the accuracy of the code. From the results, it is concluded that Abid'k-$\omega$ model is better for the calculation of flow rate and efficiency than Baldwin-Lomax model. But, the predictions for Mach number and shock structure are almost the same.

H.264/AVC 비트스트림에서 썸네일 추출을 위한 새로운 방법 (A New Method for Thumbnail Extraction in H.264/AVC Bitstreams)

  • IPTV, DMB 등과 같은 방통융합 기반 멀티미디어 서비스에서는 고성능 비디오 인덱싱을 위한 썸네일 기술이 요구되므로 H.264/AVC 비트스트림으로부터 직접 썸네일을 추출하는 방법이 제안되었다. 그러나 화소 공간에서 정의한 일반화 수식을 주파수 공간으로 변환하는 과정에서 H.264/AVC에 정의된 변환 및 양자화, 그리고 인트라 예측의 반올림을 고려하지 않음으로써 썸네일 화질을 저하시키는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC 비트스트림에서의 새로운 썸네일 추출 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 H.264/AVC 핵심 변환을 기반으로 주파수 공간에서의 썸네일 추출 방법을 이론적으로 정리하고 확률적 방법으로 인트라 예측의 반올림 보상 방법을 제시한다. 제안한 방법을 통해 얻은 썸네일은 참조 복호화기를 통해 얻은 썸네일과 주관적 화질은 크게 차이 나지 않으며 이전에 제안된 방법과 비교하여 주관적 화질 향상과 최대 8.66 dB의 PSNR 이득을 얻었다.

  • 착물의 분자궤도함수를 중심 금속이온의 핵을 원점으로 하는 함수들을 기저함수 집합으로 하여 일점 전개하고, 그 결과를 섭동론적인 입장에서 해석했다. $KNiF_3$의 결정구조 (perovskite structure)내에 존재하는 공유결합성이 비교적 작은 $[NiF_6]^{4-}$의 경우에도, 리간드의 배위로 인한 섭동으로 중심 금속이온의 $e_g$궤도함수와 $t_{2g}$궤도함수에 g궤도함수 이상의 각운동량을 갖는 들뜬상태 배치가 상당히 크게 섞여 들어온다는 것과, 이들 궤도함수들이 갖는 변형이 서로 다르다는 것을 발견했다. 여기서 MO계산에 의해 얻어지는 $e^*_g$궤도함수와 $t^*_{2g}$궤도함수 사이의 에너지차는 결정장 이론에서 정의되는 단일한 파라미터로서 10Dq의 의미는 갖지 못하며, 엄밀한 입장에선 그와 같은 파라미터는 정의될 수 없음을 밝혔다.

사회적 구성'의 수학교육적 의미에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Meaning of 'Social Construction' in Mathematics Education)

  • This study analyzes the epistemological meaning of‘social construction’in mathematical instruction. The perspective that consider the cognition of mathematical concept as a social construction is explained by a cyclic scheme of an academic context and a school context. Both of the contexts require a public procedure, social conversation. However, there is a considerable difference that in the academic context it is Lakatos' ‘logic of mathematical discovery’In the school context, it is Vygotsky's‘instructional and learning interaction’. In the situation of mathematics education, the‘society’which has an influence on learner's cognition does not only mean‘collective members’, but‘form of life’which is constituted by the activity with purposes, language, discourse, etc. Teachers have to play a central role that guide and coordinate the educational process involving interactions with learners in this context. We can get useful suggestions to mathematics education through this consideration of the social contexts and levels to form didactical situations of mathematics.

  • This paper presents a study of the elastohydrodynamic lubrication of elliptical contacts where lubricant entrainment coincides with the major axis of the Hertzian contact ellipse. A finite difference method and the Newton-Raphson method are applied to analyze the problem. Film contours and pressure distributions are compared with the results for lubricant entrainment coincides with the minor axis. Variations of the minimum and central film thicknesses with the radius ratio are also examined. The results showed that the present numerical scheme can be used generally in the analysis of the EHL of elliptical contacts where the lubricant entraining vector did not coincide with either of the principal axis of the conjunction.

비점성 압축성 코드의 병렬화 기법에 의한 슈퍼컴퓨터 CRAY T3E의 성능 분석

  • The performances of the CRAYT3E and CRAYC90 were compared in the point of aerodynamics. The CRAYC90 with and without the highest vector option was run, respectively. The CRAYT3E was run with various processors (from 1pe to 32pes). The communication utilities of MPI and SHMEM were used to inform the boundary data to the other processors. The DADI Euler solver, which is implicit scheme and use central difference method, was used. The domain decomposition method was also used. As the result, the CRAYC90 with the highest vector option is 5.7 times faster than the CRAYT3E with 1 processor. However, because of the scalability of the CRAYT3E, the CRAYT3E with more than 6 processors is faster than CRAYC90. In case that 32 processors used, the CRAYT3E is 6 times faster than CRAYC90 with the highest vector option.
