  • The purpose of this study is to perform comparative economic evaluation for the systems of ground source heat pump (GSHP) and district heating and cooling (DHC) by focusing on the analysis of operation case of GSHP. The adapted research object is a public office building located in Seoul. The capacity of ground source pump is about 3,900 kW. Ground heat exchanger is closed loop type. The analysis period for life cycle cost is 30 years. Economic evaluation is assessed from the viewpoints of the following four parts: initial cost, energy cost, maintenance and replacement cost, and environment cost. The total life cycle cost of GSHP is approximately 8,447 million won. The cost of the DHC System is approximately 3,793 million won. The cost of the DHC is approximately 46% lower than GSHP system under the condition of current rate for GSHP and DHC.

  • This paper examines the export structure of Gwangyang Port and evaluates its comparative advantage from 2005 to 2016 using the Comparative Advantage by Countries (CAC) index. It is found that: (i) Gwangyang Port has a comparative advantage in HS 39 and HS 28, an unstable comparative advantage in HS 29 but a comparative disadvantage in HS 72; and (ii) 4 items have the common features of losing their comparative advantage. Constant market share analysis allows one to evaluate why the exports of one region may grow faster than world exports. This consists of the commodity composition effect, the scale effect, and the competitive effect. Constant market share analysis shows that the commodity composition effect influences exports negatively while the scale effect does exports positively. Shift-share analysis can help evaluate the change in a region's performance relative to the nation over a given period of time. The result indicates that HS 28 has not only favorable industrial mix effect but high competitive share effect, while HS 29 has unfavorable industrial mix effect as well as low competitive share effect. This paper also reveals that industrial mix effect of HS 39 is positive but its competitive share effect is negative, whereas the former is negative but the latter is positive in case of HS 29.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze market competitiveness of Korean and Chinese computer parts industry in the between two countries' market by using Index of Export Bias and Market Comparative Advantage Index. For attaining the purpose of study, we classified the computer parts which exported to the two countries' market and the imported products as the memory devices and input/output peripheral devices. Analyzing period was 2001-2006. The analysis of Korean results of Index of Export Bias indicated that memory devices represented low overall numerical value and the Chinese results of Index of Export Bias indicated that memory devices represented high gradual numerical value. On the other hand, Korean input/output peripheral devices have been increasing steadily for analysis period and China input/output peripheral devices have been decreasing steadily for analysis period. Additional results indicated that the Korean and China computer parts which gained market competitiveness between two countries market were as follows. Korean memory devices have been losing competitiveness in the China market steadily and Chinese memory devices have been acquire competitiveness in the Korean market gradually. In input/output peripheral devices case, Korean products represented powerful competitiveness in the China market and Chinese products have been gaining competitiveness in the Korea market.

  • This study aims at presenting practical self regulation system for digital game, especially optimized to Korea through the comparative analysis of system at home and abroad. For this, this study conducted a comparative analysis about various countries adopted self regulation system, such as America, Japan, and European Union. We drew some implications on the Korean practical policy for the digital game. First, self regulation organization should be consisted of market-friendly form. Second, though self regulation organization is a autonomous system of market, the organization should take rights to regulate illegal case. This would be a good way not only to reduce unnecessary institutional regulations but also to take socially image of reliable media. Third, government should provide self regulation organizations financial assist. This policy means that the organizations make a role fairly and objectively.

  • Pediatric epilepsy can be caused by various conditions, including specific syndromes. 1p36 deletion syndrome is reported in 1 in 5,000-10,000 newborns, and its characteristic clinical features include developmental delay, mental retardation, hypotonia, congenital heart defects, seizure, and facial dysmorphism. However, detection of the terminal deletion in chromosome 1p by conventional G-banded karyotyping is difficult. Here we present a case of epilepsy with profound developmental delay and characteristic phenotypes. A 7-year-and 6-month-old boy experienced afebrile generalized seizure at the age of 5 years and 3 months. He had recurrent febrile seizures since 12 months of age and showed severe global developmental delay, remarkable hypotonia, short stature, and dysmorphic features such as microcephaly; small, low-set ears; dark, straight eyebrows; deep-set eyes; flat nasal bridge; midface hypoplasia; and a small, pointed chin. Previous diagnostic work-up, including conventional chromosomal analysis, revealed no definite causes. However, array-comparative genomic hybridization analysis revealed 1p36 deletion syndrome with a 9.15-Mb copy loss of the 1p36.33-1p36.22 region, and fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis (FISH) confirmed this diagnosis. This case highlights the need to consider detailed chromosomal study for patients with delayed development and epilepsy. Furthermore, 1p36 deletion syndrome should be considered for patients presenting seizure and moderate-to-severe developmental delay, particularly if the patient exhibits dysmorphic features, short stature, and hypotonia.

  • This study aimed to seek the ways of improving program outcomes assessment systems for engineering education accreditation of South Korea through performing comparative analysis on those of the United States. Case-study research method was implemented to achieve the research goal. Five university programs, which have been well recognized as good practices in engineering education accreditation in the United States, were selected and analyzed. In addition, those of three universities in South Korea were chosen for comparative analysis, which were reformed by university affiliated Engineering Education Innovative Centers. The analysis results indicated that there were differences in each program's program outcomes, assessment level of program outcomes, evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement, and analysis and improvement records. It was drawn up that the evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement should be paid full attention. For better program outcomes assessment system, however, the followings are in more attention. Firstly, to establish program outcomes reflecting program goal. Secondly, to set up the detailed plans for analysis and quality improvement on program outcomes. Thirdly, to keep continuing efforts on curriculum update.

  • The aim of this study is to be the fundamental study for virtual clothing system of the future through a comparative analysis of the difference between a virtual frill skirt and a real frill skirt using a 3-dimensional Apparel cad system. Satin was selected as a comparative fabric of the real skirt and virtual skirt. And compared skirts are frilled 1.5widths, 2widths, and 2.5widths. In case of 1.5widths frilled, the real skirts and virtual skirts showed no significant difference except in shirring frill expression. However, in case of 2widths frilled, and 2.5widths frilled skirts, significant differences in the extent of frill flattening, the sectional diagram of the bottom hem, and the skirt shape. The virtual skirt showed that as its multiple proportion of frill increased, the sidelines of the skirt drooped and excessively extended, and collision detection that the belt was twisted and torn apart arose. Furthermore, not only the frill but also the shape of the skirt was transformed, and the bottom hems were widened back and forth, and the sectional diagram of the bottom hems were transformed into rounded shapes.

  • The accuracy of a limit equilibrium analysis of slope stability depends on the accuracy with which the strength properties and geometric conditions can be defined, and on the inherent accuracy of the method of analysis. Most of the slope stability analysis method have been computer coded, and this is a comparative study on the accuracy of these programs. Comparative analyses have shown that for the slopes with relatively simple conditions Host of the programs which are widely used in this country result in the same value of safety factor with an accuracy no worse than $\pm$5%. Similar results can be obtained from the examination of the several slope failure for which accurate information is available on the strength and geometric conditions of the earth slope. The critical failure surface, however, can be different from the actual slip surface, although nearly the same factors of safety are obtained from the analyses of each surface.
