In this paper, we propose a low-cost and compact motion capture system which enables to play motion games in PS2(Play Station 2). Recently, motion capture systems which are being used as a part in film producing and making games are too expensive and enormous systems. Now days, motion games using common USB camera are slow and have two-dimension recognition. But PSD sensor has a few good points, such as fast and low-cost. In recently year, 3D motion capture systems using 2D PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) optic sensor for motion capturing have been developed. One is Multi-PSD motion capture system applying stereo vision and another is Single-PSD motion capture system applying optical theory ship. But there are some problems to apply them to motion games. The Multi-PSD is high-cost and complicated because of using two more PSD Camera. It is so difficult to make markers having omni-direction equal intensity in Single-PSD. In this research, we propose a new theory that solves aforementioned problems. It can measure 3D coordination if separated two marker's intensity is equal to. We made a system based on this theory and experimented for performance capability. As a result, we were able to develop a motion capture system which is a single, low-cost, fast, compact, wide-angle and an adaptable motion games. The developed system is expected to be useful in animation, movies and games.

As humanoid robot technology advances, the use of robots for performance is increasing. As a result, studies are being conducted to increase the scope of use of robots in performances by making them natural like humans. Among them, the use of motion capture technology is often used, and there are environmental inconveniences in preparing for motion capture, such as the need for IMU sensors or markers attached to each part of the body and precise high-performance cameras. In addition, for robots used in performance technology, there is a problem that they have to respond in real time depending on the unexpected situation or the audience's response. To make up for the above mentioned problems, in this paper, we proposed a real-time motion capture system by using a number of RGB-D cameras and creating natural robot motion similar to human motion by using motion-captured data.
Compact Camera Module(CCM) is widely used in PDA, Celluar phone and PC web camera. With the greatly increasing use for mobile applications, there has been a considerable demands for high speed production of CCM. The major burden of production of CCM is assembly of lens module onto CCD or CMOS packaged circuit board. After module is assembled, the CCM is inspected. In this paper, we developed the image capture board for CCM and the imaging processing algorithm to inspect the defects in captured image of assembled CCMs. The performances of the developed inspection system and its algorithm are tested on samples of 10000 CCMs. Experimental results reveal that the proposed system can focus the lens of CCM within 5s and we can recognize various types of defect of CCM modules with good accuracy and high speed.

This paper presents a method of controlling camera to present virtual space to participating users meaningfully. The users interact with each other by means of dialogue and behavior. Users behave through their avatars. So our problem comes down to controlling the camera to capture the avatars effectively depending on how they interact with each other. The problem is solved by specifying camera control rules based on cinematography developed by film producers. A formal language is designed to encode cinematography rules for virtual environments where people can participate in the story and can influence its flow. The rule has been used in a 3D chatting system we have developed.

In camera sensor networks (CSNs), in order to better identify the point, full-view problem requires capture any facing direction of target (point or intruder), and its coverage prediction and sensor density issues are more complicated. At present, a lot of research supposes that a large number of homogeneous camera sensors are randomly distributed in a bounded square monitoring region to obtain full-view rate which is close to 1. In this paper, we deduce the sensor density prediction model in heterogeneous deployed CSNs with arbitrary full-view rate. Aiming to reduce the influence of boundary effect, we introduce the concepts of expanded monitoring region and maximum detection area. Besides, in order to verify the performance of the proposed sensor density model, we carried out different scenarios in simulation experiments to verify the theoretical results. The simulation results indicate that the proposed model can effectively predict the sensor density with arbitrary full-view rate.
In flow velocity measurement of natural rivers, taking images with proper image quality is the fundamental and the most important step. Since flood peaks generally occur in night time, it is very difficult to capture proper images in that time. The present study aims to test a far infra-red camera as a adequate alternative to resolve the various problems in measuring flood discharges. The far infra-red cameras are able to capture images in night time without help of any extra illuminations. Futhermore they are not affected by fog nor smoke, hence they can be adapted for a fixed-type surface image velocimeters. For comparison, a commercial camcorder and a near infra-red cameras were used together. The test images were taken at a day time and a night time, and the image acquisition work were performed at an artificial flow channel of the Andong River Experiment Station. The analyzed results showed that the far infra-red camera would be a good instrument for surface image velocimeters, since they were able to capture regardless light condition. There are, however, a few minor problems in their accuracy of the analyzed results. About their accuracy a more study would be required.
This paper presents a motion capture based rehabilitation training system for a lower-limb paretic patient. The system evaluates the rehabilitation status of the patient by using the bend posture of the knees and the weight balance of the body. The posture of both legs is captured with a single camera using the planar mirror. The weight distribution is obtained by the Wii Balance Board. Self-occlusion problem in the tracking of the legs is resolved by using k-nearest neighbor based clustering with body symmetry and local-linearity of the posture data. To do this, we present data normalization and its symmetric property in the normalized vector space.

For the quality control of the industrial products, an automatic hole measuring system has been developed. The measurement device allows X-Y movement due to contact forces between a hole and its own circular cone and the device is attached to an industrial robot. Its measurement accuracy is about 0.04mm. This movement of the plate is measured by two LVDT sensor system. But this system using the LVDT sensors is restricted by high cost and precision of measurement and correspondence of environment so particularly, a vision system with CCD-Camera is discussed in this paper for the above mentioned purpose. The device consists of two of two links jointed with hinge pins basically and, they guarantee free movement of the touch prove attached on the second link in the same plane. These links are returned to home position by the spring plungers automatically after each process for the next one. On the surface of the touch prove, it has a circular white mark for camera recognition. The system detect and notify the center coordinate of capture mark image through the image processing. Its measuring accuracy has been proved to be about $\pm$0.01mm through the repeated implementation over 200 times. This technique will shows the advantage of touch-indirect image capture idea using cone-shaped touch prove in various symmetrical shaped holes particulary, like tapped holes, chamfered holes, etc As a result, we attained our object in a view of the accuracy, economical efficiency, and functionality

A three-dimensional image capturing device and its signal processing algorithm and apparatus are presented. Three dimensional information is one of emerging differentiators that provides consumers with more realistic and immersive experiences in user interface, game, 3D-virtual reality, and 3D display. It has the depth information of a scene together with conventional color image so that full-information of real life that human eyes experience can be captured, recorded and reproduced. 20 Mega-Hertz-switching high speed image shutter device for 3D image capturing and its application to system prototype are presented[1,2]. For 3D image capturing, the system utilizes Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle by means of 20MHz high-speed micro-optical image modulator, so called 'optical resonator'. The high speed image modulation is obtained using the electro-optic operation of the multi-layer stacked structure having diffractive mirrors and optical resonance cavity which maximizes the magnitude of optical modulation[3,4]. The optical resonator is specially designed and fabricated realizing low resistance-capacitance cell structures having small RC-time constant. The optical shutter is positioned in front of a standard high resolution CMOS image sensor and modulates the IR image reflected from the object to capture a depth image (Figure 1). Suggested novel optical resonator enables capturing of a full HD depth image with depth accuracy of mm-scale, which is the largest depth image resolution among the-state-of-the-arts, which have been limited up to VGA. The 3D camera prototype realizes color/depth concurrent sensing optical architecture to capture 14Mp color and full HD depth images, simultaneously (Figure 2,3). The resulting high definition color/depth image and its capturing device have crucial impact on 3D business eco-system in IT industry especially as 3D image sensing means in the fields of 3D camera, gesture recognition, user interface, and 3D display. This paper presents MEMS-based optical resonator design, fabrication, 3D camera system prototype and signal processing algorithms.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for planning an optimal path to capture a moving object by a mobile robot in real-time. The direction and rotational angular velocity of the moving object are estimated using the Kalman filter, a state estimator. It is demonstrated that the moving object is tracked by using a 2-DOF active camera mounted on the mobile robot and then captured by a mobile manipulator. The optimal path to capture the moving object is dependent on the initial conditions of the mobile robot, and the real-time planning of the robot trajectory is definitely required for the successful capturing of the moving object. Therefore the algorithm that determines the optimal path to capture a moving object depending on the initial conditions of the mobile robot and the conditions of a moving object is proposed in this paper. For real-time implementation, the optimal representative blocks have been utilized for the experiments to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
