Design and Implementation of the Automatic cable assembly test system that can test cable assembly effectively

  • In this paper, we propose the principles and design details of Automatic cable assembly test system and show its utility. Testing the cable assembly is required periodically or non-periodically in the system that the cable assembly performance is quite important like military equipment. There are several weaknesses when humans test the cable assembly manually. It not only takes much time but also could happen human error. To improve these disadvantages, I developed Automatic cable assembly test system. The system can be implemented by building switching control system that connect and disconnect the cable assembly and measuring devices. Through the result of the cable assembly test with this test system, we show this system makes test time short and improves of test reliability as compared with manual test.

Cable with discrete negative stiffness device and viscous damper: passive realization and general characteristics

  • Negative stiffness, previously emulated by active or semi-active control for cable vibration mitigation, is realized passively using a self-contained highly compressed spring, the negative stiffness device (NSD).The NSD installed in parallel with a viscous damper (VD) in the vicinity of cable anchorage, enables increment of damper deformation during cable vibrations and hence increases the attainable cable damping. Considering the small cable displacement at the damper location, even with the weakening device, the force provided by the NSD-VD assembly is approximately linear. Complex frequency analysis has thus been conducted to evaluate the damping effect of the assembly on the cable; the displacement-dependent negative stiffness is further accounted by numerical analysis, validating the accuracy of the linear approximation for practical ranges of cable and NSD configurations. The NSD is confirmed to be a practical and cost-effective solution to improve the modal damping of a cable provided by an external damper, especially for super-long cables where the damper location is particularly limited. Moreover, mathematically, a linear negative stiffness and viscous damping assembly has proven capability to represent active or semi-active control for simplified cable vibration analysis as reported in the literature, while in these studies only the assembly located near cable anchorage has been addressed. It is of considerable interest to understand the general characteristics of a cable with the assembly relieving the location restriction, since it is quite practical to have an active controller installed at arbitrary location along the cable span such as by hanging an active tuned mass damper. In this paper the cable frequency variations and damping evolutions with respect to the arbitrary assembly location are then evaluated and compared to those of a taut cable with a viscous damper at arbitrary location, and novel frequency shifts are observed. The characterized complex frequencies presented in this paper can be used for preliminary damping effect evaluation of an adaptive passive or semi-active or active device for cable vibration control.

엑스트라도조교 사재 정착구 시스템에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Extradosed Bridge Anchor System)

  • In this study the experimental results of fatigue specimen for the Strand Stay Cable Assembly of Extadosed bridges is investigated. The fatigue test and tensile experiment is conducted to 6 kinds of specimens. Test specimen OVM250-31 Strand Cable System manufactured by china OVM B-Machinery Co., Ltd, and OVM250-42 Parallel Strand Stay Cable Assembly manufactured by china OVM B-Machinery Co., Ltd, are passed for fatigue test and rupture tensile test. But Test specimen OVM250-42 Parallel Strand Stay Cable Assembly manufactured by korean A-Machinery Co., Ltd, is not passed for fatigue test conducted according to the "Recommendation for Stay Cable Design. The test result are compared to the fatigue criteria of PHI 2001 for cyclic load, and it is concluded that the current korean design code will be needed for representing the fatigue load in Hot Dip Galvanized Strand Stay Cable. It is verified that the new korean specification and quality criteria of Strand Stay Cable and exact experimental applied process will be needed.

Feeder Cable Assembly의 가속수명시험법 개발 (Test methodology of acceleration life test on feeder cable assembly)

  • Feeder cable assembly는 정보통신용 자동차부품이다 기능을 제대로 하지 않으면 자동차의 제어와 안전에 큰 문제가 발생한다. 가속수명시험은 시험시간을 단축할 목적으로 짧은 시간에 잠재적인 고장모드와 고장을 찾기 위하여 기속조건(스트레스, 스트레인, 온도 등)에서 실험을 실시하는 것이다. 고장원인은 부품의 품질과, 고장으로 유도하는 공정, 디자인에 의해 발생하는 결함이다. 열충격은 온도차에 의하여 부품의 열팽창 정도가 다른 것에 기인한다. 열충격시험은 부품이 급격한 온도차를 견디는 능력을 실험하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 가속시험의 coffin-manson 식을 이용하여 정상조건(최고온도 $80^{\circ}C$, 최저온도 $-40^{\circ}C$)과 가속조건(최고온도 $120^{\circ}C$, 최저온도 $-60^{\circ}C$)을 이용하여 가속계수를 계산하여 2.25 값을 얻었다. 정상조건에서 1,000 사이클 실험이 가속조건에서 444 사이클 실험만하여도 됨을 알 수 있었다. Bx 수명 식을 이용하여 가속조건에서 시료가 5개, B0.04%.10years 조건에서 747 사이클 결과를 얻었다. 정상조건에서 1,000 사이클, 가속조건에서 747 사이클 실험한 feeder cable assembly 시료 5개를 각각 네크워크 분석기를 이용하여 성능시험을 실시하고, 와이블분포의 모수분포값을 비교한 결과 가속이 잘 되었음을 알 수 있었다. 동등한 신뢰도에서 가속실험을 통하여 시험시간을 1/4 정도 단축할 수 있었다.

  • In High-Speed DSP systems, crosstalk between transmission lines of multi-channel can degrade the performance of equipment operations. This paper presents a microwave board to measure multi-channel coaxial cable assembly. The designed board has good performances from DC to 3 GHz, which have improved characteristic impedance, reduced crosstalk by using via fence, and low transmission loss. Using the designed board, we can measure characteristics of DUT(Device Under Test) such as return loss, insertion loss, crosstalk phase delay, and characteristic impedance. The measured results are used to improve performances of a produced coaxial cable assembly.

중량 앵커리지 블록과 연결된 조립 스테이 케이블의 장력 추정 (Estimation of Tension Forces of Assembly Stay Cables Connected with Massive Anchorage Block)

  • In this paper, the tension of assembly stay cable connected with massive anchorage block was calculated through back analysis of in-situ frequencies measured from a stadium structure. Direct approach to back analysis is adopted using the univariate method among the direct search methods as an optimization technique. The univariate method can search the optimal tension without regard to the initial ones and has a rapid convergence rate. To verify the reliability of back analysis, Tension formulas proposed by Zui et al. and Shimada were used. Tensions estimated by three methods are compared with the design tension, and are in a reasonable agreement with an error of more or less than 15%. Therefore, it is shown that back analysis applied in this paper is appropriate for estimation of cable tension force.

  • We have developed 154kV XLPE (Cross-linked Poly-ethylene) Cable accessories which show excellent performances. The results obtained from experiments using miniature model justified our electrical design and adopted materials, and assembly tests verified higher reliability of these accessories. Basic concepts of design and test, test results and failure analysis are presented.

  • We have developed 154kV OF cable accessories from 1987. 4 to 1990. 10 by doing assembly design, investing equipment, manufacturing inspecting parts, type testing in labortary, in our company, in KEPCO. The one of those accessories. Oil Stop Joint, has been developed by using Shield Metal Embeded Type Epoxy Unit. This is More reliable than old type.

  • Since the year 2008, the first demonstration project of the superconducting cable for the KEPCO grid operation has been in progress. To apply the HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable system into the commercial network, a new test complex was built in the 154kV Icheon substation and the on site assembly of 22.9kV, 50MVA HTS cable with the cryogenic refrigeration system was finished. A full scale of HTS cable fabricated with 2nd generation wire is to be in service in KEPCO network. In this paper, a series of processes of the installation and operation test are introduced.
