The number of construction management firms has been increased as construction management delivery system has been active in Korean construction market. the capability of leading construction management professional, who is responsible for managing project administration, is important for commissioning construction management contracts. The quality of project proposal and the capability of leading construction management professional, which are assessed by the board of contract awarding committee, are the major contributors for commissioning the public construction management projects administered by the Korean public procurement service for contracting. Therefore, employing a very competent leading construction management professional is the critical strategy for awarding contract to the construction management firms' part. That is why the firms should secure a fixed number of leading construction management professional in a waiting list to proceed the contract commissioning process for expectant candidate projects, even if there is no project assignable to the leading construction management professionals. However, a measure that makes effectively use of the leading construction management professional in a waiting list has not been systematically implemented in the firms. In turn, the firm suffers considerable loss in a project personnel supply and demand plan. Expert opinions were obtained by the survey questionaries administered to top management of the construction management firms which are engaged in the construction management contracts for commissioning the public construction management projects administered by the Korean public procurement service either as principal or co-principal deliverer. This paper presents the findings obtained by investigating the actual employment state of the leading construction management professional in the waiting list and by analyzing the issues involved in mobilizing and demobilizing them. It contributes to implement a practical guide for searching effective solutions to the issues.

It is related to launch the CM market and to increase the profit and entire ability in company that is enforcing the ability of construction management in large-scaled construction company. According to the CM market in U.S, CM market is increased with competing to the companies, that is E&C, general contractor, design firm, specialized CM firm. Also domestic market is similar to US market. In this situation, large-scaled construction companies are filled with construction management ability for competing with foreign companies and domestic CM firms. This paper suggests how to enforce the construction management ability through education, and shows the detailed education strategy considered the fields, divisions and positions.

The Construction Management for the Asan Baebang Complex Development PF Project is aiming the solution for the needs of specialized organization and management for the construction of the project, as a independent representative managing the whole process of the super high rise and huge volume of complex project. This case shall be counted as a remarkable one in the point of view that the CM was decided to be encountered even in this consortium project made between the private firm and government, and shows that the project can be executed successfully without having its own organization of a huge number of staffs. This study is for the Construction Management applied for the consortium project between the private firm and government and it is my pleasure if this study could be a help to encourage CM for wide applying in the field by reviewing of its necessity and analyzing of its effect and advantage.

A 10-year-old spayed female Maltese dog weighting 3.4 kg was referred with growing firm mass at the parietal bone region from 2 weeks ago. A firm, partially calcified mass ($1.9cm{\times}4.4cm$) was palpated in the region of the frontal and parietal skulls but had no neurologic signs. Computed tomography (CT) characteristics of mass were round to oval shape, fine granular appearance, and well defined margins. Mass involving the calvarial bones had invasion into the cranial vault with a significant intracranial portion. Histologically, the tumor was characterized by the presence of multiple lobules containing osteoid or cartilage in the center that were separated by anastomosing fibrous septae. This is case report described the clinical and histopathological features of multilobular tumor of skull in a Maltese dog.

A neutered male Maltese, 11-year-old, presented for hard mass at right flank suddenly. Patient vomited and had anorexia before the presentation, but it is improved after. On blood tests, there were no remarkable findings. On physical examination, firm mass ($2.9{\times}2.6cm$, firm) was detected. No remarkable finding was shown in radiography except for right upper-medial abdominal subcutaneous soft tissue mass. Punch biopsy was performed for histopathologic examination. During the punch biopsy, ice-cream stick ($11.5{\times}1.2cm$) appeared from the hole on right flank. Additionally gastric perforation was detected on ultrasonography. Emergency surgery was performed for the perforation. On histiopathologic examination of the mass, marked, diffuse, neutrophilic and mild eosinophilic dermatitis/cellulitis with no infectious agents was observed.

Competition among building contractors in the Korean construction environment has been increasing lately, and with the recent conclusion of the FTA between Korea and the United States, further advancement in the systems of construction, bidding and contract awarding is expected to be facilitated in the long term. Considerable changes are also expected particularly in the construction management (CM) market. Given these drastic changes, it has become more noticeable that the role of CM is enlarged in terms of time, cost, quality, risks and others to guarantee the Korean competitiveness against the global construction market. This study analyzed the current status of domestic CM companies via SWOT analysis and, based on such analysis, established development strategies for CM contractors. The strategies proposed in this study will be utilized by CM companies as basic materials in their future strategies in a short, mid and long term perspective respectively for competitive advantages in the market.

Cognitive map (CM) has long been used as an effective way of constructing the human thinking process. In literature regarding CM, a number of successful researches were reported, where CM based what-if analysis could enhance firm's performance. However, there exit very few researches investigating the CM generation method. Therefore this study proposes a GENCOM (Genetic Algorithm based Cognitive Map Generator). In this model combined with CM and GA, GA will find the optimal weight and input vector so that the CM generation. To empirically prove the effectiveness of GENCOM, we collected valid questionnaires from expert in S/W sales cases. Empirical results showed that GENCOM could contribute to effective CM simulation and very useful method to extracting the tacit knowledge of sales experts.

Idiopathic scrotal calcinosis is rare entity, characterized by the presence of multiple, firm nodules within the dermis of scrotal skin. The lesions are evident as asymptomatic, round, firm, yellowish papules, from several millimeters up to 1 cm in diameter, with a tendency to occur symmetrically. Because polypoid formation of the calcified cysts is unusual in scrotal calcinosis, we report our experience of a case of scrotal calcinosis with cysts having polypoid appearence. A 34-year-old man was admitted to our department with painless, firm, widespread nodules within the scrotum. Patient started to have these lesions at puberty and progressed to a polypoid form over time. There was neither surgical nor medical treatment had been attempted before our treatment. Physical examination revealed localized polypoid cysts in addition to multiple small, firm nodules within the scrotal skin. No underlying anomalies were detected in the physical examination and laboratory analysis. We experienced the treatment of polypoid idiopathic scrotal calcinosis and a case is presented with the review of literatures.

As domestic construction investment has been gradually reduced, the issue of expanding overseas CM market has increased. Strengthening CM capability from the view point of project life-cycle is required in overseas CM market. However, current regulations institutionally force public CM services to focus on the construction phase. Therefore, Korean CM firms can hardly have the opportunities for accumulating technical competitiveness especially for pre-construction phase. Result of this study shows that the total efforts in terms of man-hours for the construction phase is found to be more than 78 percent in domestic public CM projects. In this context, this study proposes the policies and tasks for improving 'rigid man-hour placement', 'unreasonable CM fee standards', 'CM firm selection method', 'unreasonable business scope decision', and 'evaluation of owner's project management capability' in order to improve domestic CM Industry as well as to expand overseas CM market successfully.

A leiomyosarcoma that occurred in the right kidney with hepatic metastasis of a 15-year-old intact female Asian water buffalo (Bubalus arnee) in a zoo, Republic of Korea. The animal showed no clinical signs. Grossly, a firm and white mass (6.0 x- 5.0- x 4.0 cm) was observed in the renal capsule and multiple firm white nodules, measuring 1.0-2.5 cm, were present on the surface of the liver. Microscopically, tumor cells were spindle-shaped, the cell density was high, and complex fasciculated tumor cells showing longitudinal and transverse cross-sections were observed. Tumor cell nuclei was ordinarily cigar shaped and had rounded blunt ends. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells reacted intensely with anti-smooth muscle actin antibody. This is the first case report of a renal leiomyosarcoma with hepatic metastasis in a Asian water buffalo.
