A complete invariant defined for (closed connected orientable) 3-manifolds is an invariant defined for the 3-manifolds such that any two 3-manifolds with the same invariant are homeomorphic. Further, if the 3-manifold itself can be reconstructed from the data of the complete invariant, then it is called a characteristic invariant defined for the 3-manifolds. In a previous work, a characteristic lattice point invariant defined for the 3-manifolds was constructed by using an embedding of the prime links into the set of lattice points. In this paper, a characteristic rational invariant defined for the 3-manifolds called the characteristic genus defined for the 3-manifolds is constructed by using an embedding of a set of lattice points called the PDelta set into the set of rational numbers. The characteristic genus defined for the 3-manifolds is also compared with the Heegaard genus, the bridge genus and the braid genus defined for the 3-manifolds. By using this characteristic rational invariant defined for the 3-manifolds, a smooth real function with the definition interval (-1, 1) called the characteristic genus function is constructed as a characteristic invariant defined for the 3-manifolds.

We got the growth distance curve by spline smoothing method with observed marketing data and the growth velocity curve by the derivation of the growth distance curve. Using this growth velocity curve, we defined the several characteristic points which describe the variation of marketing data. In this paper, to specify several patterns of marketing data, we suggested characteristic function by using these characteristic points. In addition, we applied characteristic function to the seventeen brands of electric home products data.

The theory of characteristic modes for coaxial waveguide with periodic axial slots is used to derive the weighted eigenvalue equation for calculating the characteristic values and the characteristic currents. Once the characteristic values and the characteristic currents are obtained, the important quantities such as the equivalent magnetic current, radiation patterns, and RCS are determined. Numerical results of the equivalent magnetic currents, radiation patterns, and RCS are compared with those obtained by use of the method of moments. A fairly good correspondence is observed between them.

In [2], [8], the author studied the characteristic connection as a good substitute for the Levi-Civita connection. In this paper, we consider the space $U(3)=(U(1){\times}U(1){\times}U(1))$ with an almost Hermitian structure which admits a characteristic connection and compute the characteristic connection concretely.

The purpose of this paper is to study and characterize the flows of characteristic 0. It is shown that the homomorphic image of distal flow of characteristic 0 is a distal flow of characteristic 0. It is also shown that the closure of every orbit in a 0-graphic flow is regular minimal.

Studying unsaturated soil mechanics, determination of soil water characteristic curve and permeability equation is an essential factor but it is not easy. In this research a new testing apparatus was developed to determine soil water characteristic curve and permeability equation. The testing to get saturated permeability coefficients and soil water characteristic curves for two soils was performed by using the developed testing apparatus. First, a saturated permeability testing was performed and then the testing to get soil water characteristic curve of a drying process was performed. Next, the testing to get soil water characteristic curve of a wetting process was performed. Testing results showed hysteresis phenomena between soil water characteristic curve of a drying process and soil water characteristic curve of a wetting process. The permeability equations were determined by a theoretical method where a saturated permeability coefficient and a soil water characteristic curve were used.

The purpose of this study is to disclose the dimension of job characteristic, working place situation. and clothes selection, which are variable on clothes selection, to research the relation of job characteristic, working place situation, and clothes selection and to disclose the feature of consumers by each group in accordance with job characteristic. The follows are summary of this study result : The concept structure of job characteristic is composed by four types. Working place situation related with clothes selection are consisted of five types. Professional women selected clothes in accordance with nine feature. Job characteristic is related with working palace situation and influences on clothes selection. The persons influenced by activity state regarded personality as important when select clothes. The persons influenced by duty state regarded harmony and control as important, instead of, they ignored conformity. People select occupation according to individual feature, so the feature of consumers, working place environment, working place situation are different in accordance with job characteristic, as a result we can find differences in clothes selection suitable for working palace and purchasing.

Advection-dominated transport problems possess difficulties in the design of numerical methods for solving them. Because of the hyperbolic nature of advective transport, many characteristic numerical methods have been developed such as the classical characteristic method, the Eulerian-Lagrangian method, the transport diffusion method, the modified method of characteristics, the operator splitting method, the Eulerian-Lagrangian localized adjoint method, the characteristic mixed method, and the Eulerian-Lagrangian mixed discontinuous method. In this paper relationships among these characteristic methods are examined. In particular, we show that these sometimes diverse methods can be given a unified formulation. This paper focuses on characteristic finite element methods. Similar examination can be presented for characteristic finite difference methods.

Objectives : For the excellent differentiation of syndromes, we study on the individual characteristic factor by the interrogation of history taking and palpation. Methods : To the subject of diagnosis special books and diagnostics textbook of korean medicine, we arrange the individual characteristic factor by the interrogation of history taking and palpation. Results : The interrogation of history taking on the individual characteristic factor was arranged dispositional symptoms and individual characteristic of syndromes. And the pulse taking and palpation on the individual characteristic factor was arranged the moderate person's pulse condition ; floating pulse, deep and sinking pulse, replete and forceful pulse, intermittent pulse, long pulse, slippery or smooth pulse, relaxed or loose pulse (浮沈實大長滑緩脈), six Yin and six Yang pulse (六陽脈, 六陰脈). Conclusions : As the results, the individual characteristic factor is very important item of the four methods of diagnosis and the differentiation of syndromes. And therefore, we have to divide the signs of individual characteristic factor and the signs of disease in the process on four methods of diagnosis and differentiation of syndromes.
