  • This paper describes a specialized CAD system for injection mold design, which has been developed using the application procedure interfaces of Unigraphics. The system consists of modeling modules that are mutually independent and can be accessed without any predefined sequence. In addition, the design process modeling capability proposed in this paper facilitate mold redesign process caused by modification of part shape.

  • As a basic step of interfacing CAD and CAM, it is required to convert thedrawing data into manufacturing information automatically. In this study the developed system carries out feature recognition from the orthographic views of press mold containing various pockets. Using rhe recognized output data, 3 dimension- al model is built using ADS and AME in order to check the result of recognition. The system consists of 4 main parts, suchas, Preprocessing, Coordinate handling, Feature recognition and 3D-modeling. The system shows a good application example which can interface the design and manufacturing stage in CAD/CAM system on PC level

  • 본 논문은 CAD/CAM Software의 Script 기능을 이용하여 정밀한 자유곡선을 정확하고, 빠르게 생성할 수 있도록 하기 위한 기법을 연구 결과로서, 적용대상은 Equiangular Scroll Curve 생성을 대상으로 하였다. 관련 식을 검토하기 위하여 Excel Software을 이용하여 검증하였고, Visual Basic Language를 이용하여 보다 편리하게 Scroll Curve를 생성하는 기법을 연구하였다. 그 결과 여섯가지 변수를 설정하여 각각의 Scroll Curve를 생성하여 그 결과를 CAD 화면에 Drawing하여 도면을 생성, 편집할 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 타 Software와 호환이 가능하도록 하여 다양한 Software에서 사용이 가능하도록 할 수 있게 하였다.

  • DUe to the requirement of high precision and the complexity during the tool design for electron gun elements, it sometimes causes human-errors. Also, in the case of beginners, they have more trial and error than skilled engineers. To remove these problems and increase the productivity in the practice field, it need the deveiopment of CAD system for electron gun element tools. Through this study, a CAD system of electron gun element tools which is used by used by knowledge base system including expert's technology in the practics, has been developed. To developed this system, it has used C-language under HP-UNIX system and CIS customer language of the EXCESS CAD/CAM system. An application of this system will provide effective aids to the designer in this field.

  • This paper deals with the development of an intelligent CAD system for specifying the operation sequence in cold forging. Cold forging technology is facing with various new design requirements. Therefore, it is very important to develop a decision method for the operation sequence, with comparatively high adaptability to the new requirements. An intelligent CAD system which is the uncertain factors in human knowledge into consideration by applying fuzzy theory is established. Various actual design data about were organized, and these organized data were applied to the system as the case base. The system automatically generates the design data of operation sequence such as the forming method and the geometric data of products in each operation stage by the reasoning method applied the fuzzy pattern matching. By comparing the design results in the above system with the actual design data of a human expert, this paper presents that our method is useful for practical application.

  • Construction Management by using 4D CAD system analyzes operations information based on 3D and 4D objects. But it is difficult to provide a variety of documents linked by 4D objects in a lump from 4D CAD system based on visual object, and to get an optimal decision-making information to conduct business. Therefore, it is necessary to construct effective construction information management systems and to organize integrated information through linking non-objects to objects. This study suggests methodologies of effective construction management for railway facilities through building of framework for practical application and methodologies to link 4D objects to IETM documents. Accordingly, it is possible to establish a systematic decision-making for an effective construction management of railway facilities, and this provide integrated methodology for linking non-objects to objects.

  • Generally Cam-Follower systems consist of two elements: Cam is for rotating motion and follower for reciprocating motion. Depending on the shape of cam and type of follower, the motion of cam-follower system is determined. Thus design process and analysis process must be well defined. The design process means to find the coordinates of cam shape which can be defined the given motion of follower and the analysis process means to determine the motion curve of follower corresponding to the given cam based on the dimensions of a cam-follower system. This paper consists of two parts: One is development of a numerical method for design and analysis of cam-follower systems, the other is for development of a CAD program and its application. As the first part of the paper, an iterative contact method is proposed. This method can calculate the contact points between cam and roller and determine their contact angles iteratively. The second part of the paper presents the structure of a CAD program and its availability to the industrial applications.

  • For CAD/CAPP integration, part information on not only geometry but also machining characteristics should be delivered and commonly used between designers and process planners. In this study, the machining features, as linking factors of the integration, are represented as the combination of functional features and atomic features and grouped into a hierarchical database. And the feature based modelling approach is used by generating information on the machining features in design stage. These features are drawn by analyzing real decision rules of process planners. The database using the machining features is built and used for application modules of process planning, operation planning and standard time estimation.

  • In this paper, an integrated S/W system from CAD to optimal design has been suggested and an application to a precision machine tool structure shown. The integrated system is so designed to reduce manual interfacing effort. An object-oriented programming language is used for combining 3-D CAD program, FEM and optimal design tools. In this system parametric modelling technique is applied and users can get the optimum design iteratively without much user intervention. The CAD model is automatically updated when the design parameters are transferred back to the CAD program. Not only design time can be dramatically reduced but unnecessary operation errors avoided by the integration.

  • We have already presented the constraint satisfaction algorithm which could solve the closed loop porblem in constraint network by using local constraint propagation, variable elimination and constraint modularization. With this algorithm, we have implemented a knowledge-based system (intelligent CAD) for supporting machine design interactively. In this paper, we present newer constraint satisfaction algorithm which can solve inequalities or under-constrained problems in constraint network, interactively and effi- ciently. This algorithm is a hybrid type of using both declarative description (constraint representation) and optimization algorithm (Simulated Annealing), simultaneously. The under-constrained problems are represented by constraint networks and satisfied completely with this algorithm. The usefulness of our algorithm will be illustrated by the application to a gear design.
