  • In this paper we study the small-data scattering of the d dimensional fractional $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ equations with d = 2, 3, $L{\acute{e}}vy$ index 1 < ${\alpha}$ < 2 and Hartree type nonlinearity $F(u)={\mu}({\mid}x{\mid}^{-{\gamma}}{\ast}{\mid}u{\mid}^2)u$ with max(${\alpha}$, ${\frac{2d}{2d-1}}$) < ${\gamma}{\leq}2$, ${\gamma}$ < d. This equation is scaling-critical in ${\dot{H}}^{s_c}$, $s_c={\frac{{\gamma}-{\alpha}}{2}}$. We show that the solution scatters in $H^{s,1}$ for any s > $s_c$, where $H^{s,1}$ is a space of Sobolev type taking in angular regularity with norm defined by ${\parallel}{\varphi}{\parallel}_{H^{s,1}}={\parallel}{\varphi}{\parallel}_{H^s}+{\parallel}{\nabla}_{{\mathbb{S}}{\varphi}}{\parallel}_{H^s}$. For this purpose we use the recently developed Strichartz estimate which is $L^2$-averaged on the unit sphere ${\mathbb{S}}^{d-1}$ and utilize $U^p-V^p$ space argument.

  • We determined the optimum ethanolic conditions for extraction of $\gamma$-oryzanol and other functional components from rice bran, using response surface methodology (RSM). A central composite design was used to investigate the effects of the independent variables of solvent ratio ($X_1$), extraction temperature ($X_2$), and extraction time ($X_3$), on dependent variables including yield ($Y_1$), total phenolic content ($Y_2$), electron-donating activity ($Y_3$), ferulic acid level ($Y_4$), and $\gamma$-oryzanol concentration ($Y_5$). Solvent ratio and extraction temperature were the most important factors in extraction. The maximum yield was at 22.56 mL/g ($X_1$), 78.19C ($X_2$), and 522.15 min ($X_3$), at the saddle point. Total phenolic levels were little affected by solvent ratio or extraction temperature. The maximum concentration of extracted total phenolics was 90.78mg GAE/100 g at 21.26 mL/g, $94.65^{\circ}C$, and 567.97 min. A maximum electron-donating ability of 54.72% was obtained with the parameters 20.20 mL/g,$81.89^{\circ}C$, and 701.87 min, at the highest point. The maximum level of ferulic acid components was 210.47 mg/100g at 5.22 mL/g, $79.66^{\circ}C$, and 575.24 min. In addition, the maximum $\gamma$-oryzanol concentration was 660.39 mg/100g at 5.10 mL/g, $81.83^{\circ}C$, and 587.39 min. The optimum extraction conditions were a solvent ratio of 10.45 mL/g, $80^{\circ}C$ extraction temperature, and 535 min extraction time. Predicted extraction levels under optimized conditions were in line with experimental values.

  • Background: Phospholipase C(PLC) plays a central role in cellular signal transduction and is important in cellular growth, differentiation and transformation. There are currently ten known mammalian isozymes of PLC reported to this date. Hydrolysis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate($PIP_2$) by PLC produces two important second messengers, inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate($IP_3$) and diacylglycerol. PLC-${\gamma}1$, previously, was known to be activated mainly through growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase. Other mechanisms of activating PLC-yl have been reported such as activation through tau protein in the presence of arachidonic acid in bovine brain and activation by $IP_3$, phosphatidic acid, etc. Very recently, another PLC-${\gamma}1$ activator protein such as tau has been found in bovine lung tissue, which now is considered to be AHNAK protein. But there has been no report concerning AHNAK and its associated disease to this date. In this study, we examined the expression of the PLC-${\gamma}1$ activator, AHNAK, in lung cancer specimens and their paired normal. Methods: From surgically resected human lung cancer tissues taken from twenty-eight patients and their paired normal counterparts, we evaluated expression level of AHNAK protein using immunoblot analysis of total tissue extract Immunohistochemical stain was performed with primary antibody against AHNAK protein. Results: Twenty-two among twenty-eight lung cancer tissues showed overexpression of AHNAK protein (eight of fourteen squamous cell lung cancers, all of fourteen adenocarcinomas). The resulting bands were multiple ranging from 70 to 200 kDa in molecular weight and each band was indistinct and formed a smear, reflecting mobility shift mainly due to proteolysis during extraction process. On immunohistochemistry, lung cancer tissues showed a very heavy, dense staining with anti-AHNAK protein antibody as compared to the surrounding normal lung tissue, coresponding well with the results of the western blot Conclusion: The overexpression of PLC-${\gamma}1$ activator protein, AHNAK in lung cancer may provide evidence that the AHNAK protein and PLC-${\gamma}1$ act in concerted manner in carcinogenesis.

  • In this article, we study the weak and extra-weak type integral inequalities for the modified integral Hardy operators. We provide suitable conditions on the weights ω, ρ, φ and ψ to hold the following weak type modular inequality $${\mathcal{U}}^{-1}\({\int_{{\mid}{\mathcal{I}}f{\mid}>{\gamma}}}\;{\mathcal{U}}({\gamma}{\omega}){\rho}\){\leq}{\mathcal{V}}^{-1}\({\int}_{0}^{\infty}{\mathcal{V}}(C{\mid}f{\mid}{\phi}){\psi}\),$$ where ${\mathcal{I}}$ is the modified integral Hardy operators. We also obtain a necesary and sufficient condition for the following extra-weak type integral inequality $${\omega}\(\{{\left|{\mathcal{I}}f\right|}>{\gamma}\}\){\leq}{\mathcal{U}}{\circ}{\mathcal{V}}^{-1}\({\int}_{0}^{\infty}{\mathcal{V}}\(\frac{C{\mid}f{\mid}{\phi}}{{\gamma}}\){\psi}\).$$ Further, we discuss the above two inequalities for the conjugate of the modified integral Hardy operators. It will extend the existing results for the Hardy operator and its integral version.

  • Cytologic diagnosis of reactive or malignant effusion is sometimes difficult. Especially, differentiation of benign reactive mesothelial cells from malignant cells in body effusion is more difficult. Recently, immunohistochemistry has been used to diagnose difficult cases. Phospholipase $C(PLC)-{\gamma}1$ is one of the isoenzyme of the PLC which plays central role in signal transduction involving cellular growth, differentiation and transformation by phosphorylating many protein component. Increased expression of $PLC-{\gamma}1$ in human breast carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma and stomach cancers are reported. To evaluate the efficacy of positive $PLC-{\gamma}1$ immunostaining in the diagnosis of malignancy in effusions, paraffin-embedded cell blocks of pleural fluid and ascites from 10 patients(5 metastatic adenocarcinomas, and 5 reactive mesothelial cells) were immunostained with a monoclonal antibody to $PLC-{\gamma}1$. $PLC-{\gamma}1$ immuostained all the adenocarcinomas in cell block(5/5) with intense membrane pattern, however, none of the reactive mesothelial proliferations stained with the diagnostic membrane pattern. Thus, our study strongly supports the conclusion that $PLC-{\gamma}1$ immunopositivity is likely to become a useful adjunct for the diagnosis of malignancy in effusions.

  • Free radical-initiated copolymerization of diethyl isopropenyl phosphate (DEIPA) with vinyl acetate (VAc) and acrylonitrile (AN) was studied. The monomer reactivity ratios for the monomer pairs, determined at $60^{\cric}C$ using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator, are: ${\gamma}_1$(VAc) = 1.56, ${\gamma}_2$(DEIPA) = 0.44: ${\gamma}_1$(AN) = 15.2, ${\gamma}_2$(DEIPA) = 0.031. The values of the Alfrey-Price constants, Q and e, for DEIPA were calculated to be 0.015 and 0.39, respectively, from the VAc system, and 0.014 and 0.34, respectively, from AN/DEIPA pair. These results indicate that ${\alpha}$-methyl substituent of vinyl phosphate monomer decreases the general reactivity in free radical copolymerization. The intrinsic viscosity and number-average molecular weight of copolymers decreased as their content of DEIPA units increased, indicating a high degree of chain transfer caused by DEIPA, as previously learned in DEVPA system.

  • The effect of gamma irradiation on the prevention of breeding a patulin-producing mold and reducing patulin content was evaluated in an apple model system. Penicillium griseofulvum, a patulin-producing standard mold strain was artificially inoculated into apples and a gamma irradiation was performed. The $D_{10}$-values of the conidia of P. griseofulvum in an aqueous suspension and the apple model system were calculated at 0.28 and 0.48 kGy, respectively. The viable cell counts of the inoculated conidia in the apples showed 2 decimal point reductions at a dose of 1 kGy. Breeding and growth of the survived conidia was prevented during 10 weeks of post-irradiation storage period, especially at $4^{\circ}C$. The concentration of patulin in the non-irradiated apples was gradually increased and reached about 950 ppm at $25^{\circ}C$ and 410 ppm at $4^{\circ}C$, but the production of patulin was not observed during storage after 1 kGy of gamma irradiation.

  • This study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of silkworm hemolymph against ${\gamma}-irradiation$ induced damage in the liver of mice. Female Balb/C mice (6 weeks old) were exposed to ${\gamma}-irradiation$ (6 Gy) and administered orally to silkworm hemolymph ($5ml\;kg^{-1}$ BW) for 7 days post-irradiation. The body weight, spleen index, plasma aspartate transaminase (AST), plasma alanine transaminase (ALT), and liver malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were determined. Compared with irradiated control mice, the activity of plasma AST and the level of MDA were significantly decreased in mice treated silkworm hemolymph. These results show that silkworm hemolymph is found to have a protective effect against ${\gamma}-irradiation$ induced damage in mice.
