This paper proposes an Adaptive Double Buffer Model. As a new FIFO buffer model, this technique minimizes packet losses from network congestion by logically managing buffers. It allocates the spare spaces of non-congested buffers to congested buffers by allowing receive/send buffers to share two queues, and hence it minimizes packet losses. In contrast to the buffer model utilizing a free list, this buffer model can prevent the bubble phenomenon caused by a memory leak and thereby apply to a network buffer in a restricted environment. Also, compared with the model using an way, this model brings maximum 100 percent improvement in accepting packets and compared with the model utilizing a free list, this model has the similar efficiency Results of the performance test on Adaptive Double Buffer Model, shows that this proposed model decreases packet losses and enhances memory efficiency.

On large-scale data analysis platforms deployed on cloud infrastructures over the Internet, the instability of the data transfer time and the dynamics of the processing rate require a more sophisticated data distribution scheme which maximizes parallel efficiency by achieving the balanced load among participated computing elements and by eliminating the idle time of each computing element. In particular, under the constraints that have the real-time and limited data buffer (in-memory storage) are given, it needs more controllable mechanism to prevent both the overflow and the underflow of the finite buffer. In this paper, we propose an auto regulated data provisioning model based on receiver-driven data pull model. On this model, we provide a synchronized data replenishment mechanism that implicitly avoids the data buffer overflow as well as explicitly regulates the data buffer underflow by adequately adjusting the buffer resilience. To estimate the optimal size of buffer resilience, we exploits an adaptive buffer resilience control scheme that minimizes both data buffer space and idle time of the processing elements based on directly measured sample path analysis. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides allowable approximation compared to the numerical results. Also, it is suitably efficient to apply for such a dynamic environment that cannot postulate the stochastic characteristic for the data transfer time, the data processing rate, or even an environment where the fluctuation of the both is presented.

Coupling systems for trains need more complicated buffer equipments than existing systems because the recent tendency of the regulations enforces trains to be safe for collisions even when the driving speed is higher than before. Using hydraulic buffer is an effective way to satisfy the requirement while it causes the increase of the cost for the coupling system. In this study, we introduce the methodology to build a simulation model for the hydraulic buffer, which could be installed into the coupling systems. In the simulation model of the hydraulic buffer, the reacting force is determined by both buffer stroke and speed whereas the elastic buffer model is designed by using only the buffer stroke in other studies. The simulation results with the advanced hydraulic buffer model shows that the simulating results can be close the real experimental results around 10%, and, if we considers friction forces, the simulation calculates the maximum force within 10% comparing to the experimental.
This paper presents the development and application of a riparian buffer zone design model(RBZDM). The model was developed as a decision-making tool for watershed management, by integrating geographic information system(GIS) and analytical hierarchy process(AHP) theory. Several factors for watershed management, such as pollution removal capacity, land aquisition cost, distribution of point and non-point pollution sources, and possibility of new pollution source location, were analyzed based on AHP theory. The vegetated buffer zone width was designed using GIS-based riparian buffer analysis. The developed model was applied to the Kyoungan Stream watershed, which is an important part of Paldang lake catchment area. The Kyoungan stream watershed was divided into sixteen subbasins. Six of them belong to the main stem, where the model was applied. Ten alternatives of buffer zone width and five hierarchial levels were designed. The relative importance and the relative preference were computed by pair-wise comparison of evaluation criteria given in hierarchial levels. The buffer zone width was determined by linear function of the given alternatives and relative preferences. From this study, it was determined that the six buffer zone widths of Kyoungan main stems would be 1,594, 1,744, 1,856, 1,782, 1,338, 1,780 meter, from upstream to downstream.

It is required that a server which communicates with various client simultaneously should have an efficient data transfer model. In Windows$^{(R)}$ environment, the server was generally developed based on IOCP model. Developing the IOCP model, the server generally has one data transfer buffer per client. If the server divides a larger data than the transfer buffer into several fragments, there used to be a problem in sending it to a client, because there is a conflict in a data transfer buffer. That is, CPU requests one data-fragment transfer, then it will request the next data-fragment transfer successively before completing the previous request, owing to the property of overlapped IO model. In this paper, we proposed the transfer buffer sharing technique to solve the conflicting problem. The experimental result shows that the performance of data transfer was enhanced by 39% maximally.
This research is concerned with buffer management in a multi-cell FMS with an AGVS. Buffers in manufacturing systems are required to reduce blocking and starving caused by breakdowns, variability in process times, and diversity of part routing. Due to the high per unit buffer cost, which primarily consists of floor space and equipment costs, the total capacity of buffers in and FMS is very limited. Proper buffer management can provide a high system efficiency. This paper presents a buffer management model for a multi-cell FMS with an AGVS and a simulation study to compare the proposed model to a conventional buffer management model in a job shop FMS.

We investigate the scheduling problem for periodic job shops with blocking. We develop Petri net models for periodic job shops with finite buffers. A buffer control method would allow the jobs to enter the input buffer of the next machine in the order for which they are completed. We discuss difficulties in using such a random order buffer control method and random access buffers. We thus propose an alternative buffer control policy that restricts the jobs to enter the input buffer of the next machine in a predetermined order. The buffer control method simplifies job flows and control systems. Further, it requires only a cost-effective simple sequential buffer. We show that the periodic scheduling model with finite buffers using the buffer control policy can be transformed into an equivalent periodic scheduling model with no buffer, which is modeled as a timed marked graph. We characterize the structural properties for deadlock detection. Finally, we develop a mixed integer programming model for the no buffer problem that finds a deadlock-free optimal sequence that minimizes the cycle time.
The water quality from nonpoint source run off results from different land use types has been studied. The construction of a buffer strip is one method of nonpoint source pollutant control. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model has been applied to estimate the pollutant removal through the buffer strip. When the non-business land has been changed into grass to form a buffer-strip, the change of land use effects the results of the model according to measures of the water quality. The data from a water level station within the watershed in the years 2006 and 2007 was used for calibration and validation of the model. Under the rainfall conditions in 2007, the removal rates of SS, BOD, TN, TP were 11.5%, 9.5%, 1.2%, and 4.5%, respectively. During the rainy days, the removal rates at the buffer strip were 92.3% of SS, 91.2% of BOD, 82.4% of TN, and 83.5% of TP. The pollutants from nonpoint sources were effectively removed by over 80% as they passed through the buffer strips. Rainfall resulted in soil erosion, which led to an increase in the SS concentration, therefore, the construction of buffer strips protected the streams from SS inflows. Since TN concentrations are affected by the inflows of ground water and the N concentration of the rainfall, the removal rate of TN was relatively lower than for the other pollutants.
In this paper, we have proposed 3D shape reconstruction using superquadrics and single z-buffer Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) rendering algorithm. Superquadrics can obtain various 3D model using 11 parameters and both superquadrics and deformed-superquadrics play a role of primitives which are consisted of CSG tree. In addition, we defined some effective equations using z-buffer algorithm and stencil buffer for synthesizing 3D model. Using this proposed algorithm, we need not to consider the coordinate of each 3D model because we simply compare the depth value of 3D model.
