  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect decision-making for e-commerce users and to present ecommerce companies with the company's strategic directions for consumer purchases. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, a structured research model was derived to confirm the relationship between brand image, product liking, heuristic and purchase intention and the difference according to psychological power. For analysis a total of 212 valid questionnaires from e-commerce users were used. confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equations were conducted to verify. Results: Both brand image and product liking had a significant effect on purchase intention as well as heuristics. However, heuristics did not affect the purchase intention. It was found that the relationship between brand image, product liking, heuristic, and purchase intention differed depending on the psychological power. Conclusions: Companies should seek ways to increase the positive brand image and likability of products so that consumers can quickly purchase products. In the relationship between brand image and heuristic, the low-psychological group has more influence on heuristic, and in case of product liking, the high-psychological group has more influence on heuristic. In the relationship between brand image and product liking for purchase intention, both in the high psychological power group affect more influence on purchase intention. Since the process of purchasing products varies depending on the consumer psychological power tendency, it is necessary to identify the characteristics of consumers and establish strategies for purchasing promotion measures.

  • Purpose: Current study aimed at exploring the effects of ambient anger versus sadness on motive type and coping strategy type when consumers make decision. It focused on whether the negative affects of the anger and the sadness differentially induce approach versus avoidance motive at the place of making decision, and also explored the coping strategy differences between the consumers under the anger and those under the sadness, that is, which strategy is more used between problem-focused strategy and affect-focused strategy when they are under each negative affect. Research design, data and methodology: The experimental groups were divided into two types of group such as the anger-felt group and the sadness-felt group. The experiment was performed with the between-subjects design based on the anger and the sadness. Questionnaire data were collected from undergraduate students assigned to each of the anger group and the sadness group operated by the scenario method, and the data were used to verify research hypotheses by t-test. Results: - First, the anger induced the approach motive more rather than the avoidance motive in making decision. Second, to cope the negative affects, consumers under the anger used problem-focused strategy more than affect-focused strategy, while those under the sadness used affect-focused strategy more than problem-focused strategy. Therefore, this article contributes to the theory related to motive and making decision taken place to consumers under ambient negative emotions. Conclusions: Focusing on the results of this study, there could be managerial implications to brand or product marketing managers. Checking which affect consumers previously felt between anger and sadness when they are under negative affects is at issue to the brand or product marketers when they appeal their brand or product to the consumers. The marketers should build and communicate the messages about their product or brand in the respect of the points of showing problem solution or the best way to handle things to appeal the consumers under the anger. And they should develop and communicate the messages about their product or brand emphasizing the aspects of letting consumers' sad feelings out somehow or controlling their emotions to the consumers under sadness.

  • This study develops and empirically tests a comprehensive model of consumers' brand page experiences that illuminates dynamics among perceived values (practical value, stimulation, enjoyment, and social identification), brand page engagement dimensions (cognitive engagement, affective engagement, and behavioral engagement) and brand loyalty. An online survey was employed for data collection. We collected 358 usable responses for data analysis. Structural equation modeling results show that three dimensions of perceived values (practical value, perceived enjoyment, and social identification) positively affect brand engagement dimensions, while perceived stimulation affects affective engagement only. As for the roles of brand page engagement, affective and behavioral engagement positively influence brand loyalty. This study demonstrates how consumers' perceived values of brand page experience influence each dimension of brand page engagement and how each dimension has a different impact on brand loyalty. The results of this study provide substantive contributions to the consumers' brand page experience and engagement literature and brand page management on social media for developing brand loyalty.

  • This study investigates which variables most effectively influence the positioning strategy of a brand. In addition, we test the connection between the positioning strategy of the brand and loyalty. Finally, we explore how brand experience effects the relationship between brand position and brand loyalty. To this end, this study employs the street-intercept method to collect data on consumers' perception of home appliances in Japan and conducts structural equation modeling analysis to test our hypotheses. Specifically, we find that assessments of product, service, and image have a significant impact on a brand's position which, in turn, drives brand loyalty. In addition, brand experience seems to moderate the relationship between service and brand positioning effectiveness. We also find that price promotions negatively affect brand loyalty. The research provides a consumer-centered, experiential view of how firms can develop strategies to more effectively position brands and increase loyalty among their customers. These results help both academics and practitioners to better understand how consumers assess a brand's position in the marketplace.
