영광 원자력발전소 원자로 건물내 중성자 스펙트럼 측정

  • 출력 운전중 원자로 건물내의 중성자 에너지 스펙트럼의 분포를 살펴보기 위해 중성자 스펙트럼 측정을 수행하였다. 영광4흐기 원자로 건물내 100ft 상에서 4곳, 122ft 상에서 4곳, 144 ft 상에서 8곳을 Bonner Multisphere Spectrometer(BMS) 시스템을 이용하여 중성자 스펙트럼을 측정하였다. BMS는 Cf-252 선원으로 교정하였으며 측정된 데이터는 BUNKI 코드를 이용하여 unfolding 하여 에너지 스펙트럼을 얻었다 분석 결과 100 ft의 경우 평균 중성자 에너지는 0.100 ~ 1.954 MeV, Fluence는 4.913$\times$$10^2$ ~ 1.478$\times$$10^4$ n/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 선량율은 0.56 ~ 289.37 mrem/hr의 분포를, 122 ft의 경우 평균 중성자 에너지는 0.122 ~ 0.320 MeV, Fluence는 4.586$\times$$10^{0}$ ~ 7.743$\times$$10^3$ n$\textrm{cm}^2$, 선량율은 0.05 ~ 201.46 mrem/hr의 분포를, 144 ft의 경우 평균 중성자 에너지는 0.062 ~ 0.578 MeV, Fluence는 7.922$\times$$10^{0}$ ~ 1.703$\times$$10^2$ n/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 선량율은 0.10 ~ 45.58 mrem/hr의 분포를 보였다.

2.6 GHz GaN-HEMT Power Amplifier MMIC for LTE Small-Cell Applications

  • This paper presents a two-stage power amplifier MMIC using a $0.4{\mu}m$ GaN-HEMT process. The two-stage structure provides high gain and compact circuit size using an integrated inter-stage matching network. The size and loss of the inter-stage matching network can be reduced by including bond wires as part of the matching network. The two-stage power amplifier MMIC was fabricated with a chip size of $2.0{\times}1.9mm^2$ and was mounted on a $4{\times}4$ QFN carrier for evaluation. Using a downlink LTE signal with a PAPR of 6.5 dB and a channel bandwidth of 10 MHz for the 2.6 GHz band, the power amplifier MMIC exhibited a gain of 30 dB, a drain efficiency of 32%, and an ACLR of -31.4 dBc at an average output power of 36 dBm. Using two power amplifier MMICs for the carrier and peaking amplifiers, a Doherty power amplifier was designed and implemented. At a 6 dB back-off output power level of 39 dBm, a gain of 24.7 dB and a drain efficiency of 43.5% were achieved.

유전체 공진기를 이용한 WLL용 전압제어발진기 (Voltage-controlled Oscillator Using Dielectric Resonator for WLL System)

  • 24GHz 대역의 WLL 시스템용 전압제어발진기(Yca)를 설계하고 제작하였다. 위상잡음(C/N) 특성을 개선하기 위하여 품질계수가 높은 유전체 공진기를 공진부의 인덕터로 사용하였다. 5 V, 10 mA 바이어스 조건 에서 VCO를 측정한 결과 2210-2240 MHz의 주파수 대역에서 출력은 0 dBm, 위상잡음 특성은 10 kHz offset에서 100 dBc/Hz으로 매우 우수한 특성을 나타내었다. 따라서 제작된 VCO는 WLL 시스템에 적용할 수 있다고 생각된다.

  • A 900MHz CMOS RF power amplifier with digitally controllable output power has been proposed and designed with 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard CMOS technology. The designed power amplifier was composed of digitally controllable switch mode pre-amplifiers with an integrated 4nH spiral inductor load and class-C output stage. Especially, to compensate the 1ow Q of integrated spiral inductor, cascode amplifier with a Q-enhancement circuit is used. It has been shown that the proposed power control technique allows the output power to change from almost 3dBm to 13.5dBm. And it has a maximum PAE(Power Added Efficiency) of almost 55% at 900MHz operating frequency and 3V power supply voltage.

Strength properties of composite clay balls containing additives from industry wastes as new filter media in water treatment

  • Pebble matrix filtration (PMF) is a water treatment technology that can remove suspended solids in highly turbid surface water during heavy storms. PMF typically uses sand and natural pebbles as filter media. Hand-made clay pebbles (balls) can be used as alternatives to natural pebbles in PMF treatment plants, where natural pebbles are not readily available. Since the high turbidity is a seasonal problem that occurs during heavy rains, the use of newly developed composite clay balls instead of pure clay balls have the advantage of removing other pollutants such as natural organic matter (NOM) during other times. Only the strength properties of composite clay balls are described here as the pollutant removal is beyond the scope of this paper. These new composite clay balls must be able to withstand dead and live loads under dry and saturated conditions in a filter assembly. Absence of a standard ball preparation process and expected strength properties of composite clay balls were the main reasons behind the present study. Five different raw materials from industry wastes: Red Mud (RM), Water Treatment Alum Sludge (S), Shredded Paper (SP), Saw Dust (SD), and Sugar Mulch (SM) were added to common clay brick mix (BM) in different proportions. In an effort to minimize costs, in this study clay balls were fired to $1100^{\circ}C$ at a local brick factory together with their bricks. A comprehensive experimental program was performed to evaluate crushing strength of composite hand-made clay balls, using uniaxial compression test to establish the best material combination on the basis of strength properties for designing sustainable filter media for water treatment plants. Performance at both construction and operating stages were considered by analyzing both strength properties under fully dry conditions and strength degradation after saturation in a water bath. The BM-75% as the main component produced optimum combination in terms of workability and strength. With the material combination of BM-75% and additives-25%, the use of Red Mud and water treatment sludge as additives produced the highest and lowest strength of composite clay balls, with a failure load of 5.4 kN and 1.4 kN respectively. However, this lower value of 1.4 kN is much higher than the effective load on each clay ball of 0.04 kN in a typical filter assembly (safety factor of 35), therefore, can still be used as a suitable filter material for enhanced pollutant removal.

저 편광의존성을 가지는 반도체 광증폭기의 제작에 관한 연구 (A study on the fabrication of the polarization-insensitive semiconductor optical amplifier)

  • 본 연구에서는 <1.55um 대역의 편광비의존성을 가지는 반도체 광증폭기를 제작하기 위하여 InGaAsP/InP 이중이종접합 웨이퍼를 이용하여 정방매립형 반도체 광증폭기(SOA)를 제작하였다. 제작된 반도체 광증폭기의 특성을 측정한 결과 3㏈대역폭은 35nm이었으며, 3dB포화출력은 4dBm이었다. ISOmA의 CW구동에서 최대이득은 19.4dB이었다. 반도체 광증폭기의 ASE power를 ASE측정시스템을 이용하여 TE, TM모드에 대하여 측정한 결과 최대이득을 나타내는 영역부근에서 TE 및 TM모드의 분포가 거의 일치하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제작된 반도체 광증폭기는 비편광의존성 SOA임을 실험적으로 확인하였다.

Expression of temperature responsive genes in cell cultures derived from Bombyx mori

  • Insects are heterotherms that exhibit a close relationship between their ecology (especially temperature changes) and physiology. In the present study, selected genes associated with cell death and temperature were examined to determine gene expression in Bombyx mori in high and low temperature environments. We determined the amount of dsRNA, different concentrations of dsRNA, and different type of cells to set the conditions most efficient for RNAi. We then prepared dsRNA transcripts of the genes associated with cell death and temperature response. We analyzed cell damage via Trypan blue staining and found that cell viability was reduced after knockdown of these genes. The special transduced cell lines produced in the present study can be applied in various research fields. We also expect that these cell lines can be used as a research tool for the precise functional analysis of various genes.

GaN HEMT Based High Power and High Efficiency Doherty Amplifiers with Digital Pre-Distortion Correction for WiBro Applications

  • This paper presents high power and high efficiency Doherty amplifiers for 2.345 GHz wireless broadband (WiBro) applications that use a Nitronex 125-W ($P_{3dB}$) GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT). Two- and three-way Doherty amplifiers and a saturated Doherty amplifier using Class-F circuitry are implemented. The measured result for a center frequency of 2.345 GHz shows that the two-way Doherty amplifier attains a high $P_{3dB}$ of 51.5 dBm, a gain of 12.5 dB, and a power-added efficiency (PAE) improvement of about 16 % compared to a single class AB amplifier at 6-dB back-off power region from $P_{3dB}$. For a WiBro OFDMA signal, the Doherty amplifier provides an adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) at 4.77 MHz offset that is -33 dBc at an output power of 42 dBm, which is a 9.5 dB back-off power region from $P_{3dB}$. By employing a digital pre-distortion (DPD) technique, the ACLR of the Doherty amplifier is improved from -33 dBc to -48 dBc. The measured result for the same frequency shows that the three-way Doherty amplifier, which has a $P_{3dB}$ of 53.16 dBm and a gain of 10.3 dB, and the saturated Doherty amplifier, which has a $P_{3dB}$ of 51.1 dBm and a gain of 10.3 dB, provide a PAE improvement of 11 % at the 9-dB back-off power region and 7.5 % at the 6-dB back-off region, respectively, compared to the two-way Doherty amplifier.

Effects of Insect Hormones on the Replication of Nucleopolyhedrovirus

  • An experimental study was undertaken to quantify the effects of insect hormones on the replication of nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV). The results demonstrated that TCID/ sub 50/ at 72 h post-infection (hpi) rose systematically from 0.55$\times$10$^{8}$ /m1, for untreated cells, up to 1.67$\times$10$^{8}$ / ml at 3$\mu$g/ml, then dropped down to 1.45$\times$10$^{8}$ /m1 at 4 $\mu$g/ml, by adding ecdysone to the culture medium for Bm-N cells infected with a wild-type Bambyx mori. nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV). The optimum enhancement of about 3 times on budded virus (BV) titer at 72 hpi was given at 3 $\mu$g/ml of ecdysone. While the polyhedra number had no obvious variation within the range of concentrations from 0 to 4 $\mu$g/ml. By addition of juvenile hormone analogue (JHA) into the media with this concentration range, the BmNPV TCID/ sub 50/ and polyhedra number at 72 hpi did not show significant changes. Also, the addition of either 3 $\mu$g/ml of ecdysone or 3 $\mu$g/ml of JHA to the culture media did not appear to affect the TCID/ sub 50/ and polyhedra number significantly in infected Sf-21 cells with the autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV).

플라즈마질화처리에 의한 13Cr 스테인리스강의 표면경화특성에 미치는 질화물형성원소첨가의 영향 (Effects of Alloying Elements on Hardening of 13Cr Stainless Steels Using Plasma Nitriding Process)

  • The surface characteristics of 13Cr stainless steel systems by plasma nitriding were investigated. The plasma nitriding for the 13Cr steels, in which the nitriding forming elements such as Ti, V, W, Nb, Al, Zr and Si were added about 2~3wt.%, respectively, was performed. In all nitrided specimens, .epsilon.-F $e_{2-3}$N, UPSILON.'-F $e_{4}$N and CrN were detected as the nitrides with the a-Fe in the nitrided layer. VN and .betha.- $W_{2}$N were also detected in 13Cr-3V and 13Cr-3W alloys. The growth of the nitrided layer was controlled by the diffusion process. The thickness of the nitrided layer was similar in the 13Cr-2Nb and 3Zr specimens to that of 13Cr(BM) specimen, while the others exhibited the thinner layer. The activation energy for the growth of the nitrided layer in the temperature range of 773-873K was about 130kJ/mol in 13Cr(BM), 13Cr-2Ti, 3W, 3Al, 3Zr and 3Si alloys. The hardness of the nitrided specimens was significantly increased above Hv1000, comparing to the non-nitrided specimen. The specimens with the nitrided forming elements revealed much higher hardness values and, especially, 13Cr-3Al, 3V and 3Si specimens were significantly hardened up to Hv1300.v1300.0.
