  • This thesis aimed to reduce the differences of hair color when hair coloring, so it researched the differences & changes in hair color before shampoo v.s. after shampoo and dry on different heat processes when acid hair color dyeing. Five hair color dyes (Y, R, B, G, Br) manufactured by two different corporations were used. The acid hair color dyes were tinted on black and bleached hair pieces subjected to 3 different heat process; 1. Normal Temperature($25^{\circ}C$, 30min.) / 2. Heating($40^{\circ}C$, 15min.)+Normal Temperature($25^{\circ}C$, 15min.) / 3. Heating($40^{\circ}C$, 30min.). Color numbers were divided by NCS value, chroma, and hue. Statistical averages were derived and t-test was conducted using SPSS V12. Hair color differences and changes were drawn on an NCS chart using Photo Shop PS. The conclu is; If acid hair colorings are separated by a heating process, hair value & chroma change before shampoo vs. after shampoo & dry regardless of the color of hair and the heat process. Hue is not changed or shifted counter clockwise NCS color circle, but some exceptions, and it's the same when the total heat process results are combined. Black hair's value shifted downward and chroma left, and hue stayed either neutral or one color or it shifted counter clockwise on NCS color circle. Bleached hair's value shifted upward and chroma right, and hue stayed one color or shifted counter clockwise, but some exceptions. And it can be shown on NCS chart.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effect of 38% carbamide peroxide on the microleakage of class V cavities restored with either a silorane-based composite or two methacrylate-based composites. Materials and Methods: A total of 96 class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of extracted human teeth with both enamel and dentin margins and were randomly assigned into three groups of Filtek P90 (3M-ESPE) + P90 system adhesive (3M-ESPE)(group A), Filtek Z250 (3M-ESPE) + Adper Prompt L-Pop (3M-ESPE)(group B) and Filtek Z350XT (3M-ESPE) + Adper Prompt L-Pop (group C). Half of the teeth were randomly underwent bleaching (38% carbamide peroxide, Day White, Discus Dental, applying for 15 min, twice a day for 14 day) while the remaining half (control) were not bleached. Dye penetration was measured following immersion in basic fuchsine. Data were statistically analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests at a level of 0.05. Results: No significant differences were found between composites in the control groups in enamel (p = 0.171) or dentin (p = 0.094) margins. After bleaching, microleakage of Z250 (in enamel [p = 0.867] or dentin [p = 0.590] margins) and Z350 (in enamel [p = 0.445] or dentin [p = 0.591]margins) did not change significantly, but the microleakage of P90 significantly increased in both enamel (p = 0.042) and dentin (p = 0.002) margins. Conclusions: No significant differences were noted between the bleached and control subgroups of two methacrylate-based composites in enamel or dentin margins. Microleakage of silorane-based composite significantly increased after bleaching.

  • The red color bleaching phenomena of red pepper powder by the exposure to sun light were studied on the various factors such as drying methods of pepper and the storage conditions of pepper powder, relative humidities, particle sizes, and the amounts and qualities of light. The surface color of red pepper was rapidly bleached by the successive daily exposures until the color retention value (capsanthin remained/original capsanthin content) reached to 0.5, while that of dark storge showed a negligible change. The color changes were related with the cumulative solar energy at various water activities $(a_w)$. As decreasing $a_w$ below 0.5, the bleaching reaction was highly accelerated, and thereafter was slowly progressed. Sun lights transmitted by red-, yellow- and blue-gelatin filters, respectivly, bleached in different degrees and at the shorter wavelength light, the more color bleaching occurred. From this fact a red colored package film could be effectivly used for the color preservation purpose in the red pepper storage.

  • This study comparatively analyzed hair damage by hair bleach particles and identified three different bleach particle sizes using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The powdered bleaching agents made of ammonium persulfate (APS) and potassium persulfate had particle sizes of $131{\mu}m$, $72{\mu}m$ and $48.8{\mu}m$. According to a hair damage test, cuticle lift-up or peeling hardly occurred when small bleach particles were used. In terms of hair color, the hair bleached with larger bleach particles was the darkest, while the hair bleached with small bleach particles was the brightest. The results found that for bleaching agents that are more effective in easing hair damage, those with little particles should be used. In addition, it appears that the selection of particles depending on the degree of hair bleaching would enhance bleaching effects and reduce hair damage. The above process is a way to get great results in selecting a bleaching agent. It is anticipated that hair damage could be reduced during hair bleaching based on the above results.

  • In order to express the ideal appearance, everyone, regardless of age or gender, invests boldly in appearance management. In particular, hair coloring and hair styling using irons are widely used and used. have. Therefore, for the purpose of presenting the efficient use of flat irons, the study of thermal analysis of virgin hair and bleach hair in 120℃ heat treatment is conducted. As a result of the study, it was found that the overall weight of bleached hair decreased more than that of virgin hair at all treatment temperatures of flat irons. Through this thermal analysis study that measures the weight change according to the temperature rise of virgin and bleached hair, beauty consumers provide information on the optimal temperature flat ironing procedure that can minimize hair damage and discoloration while maintaining color in hair subjected to physical friction. It is believed that it will provide them efficiently.

  • Statement of problem & Purpose: To study the effect of different fluoridation methods after in-office bleaching on the color of teeth during severe staining with coffee. Material and methods: 44 specimens were randomly divided into four groups. Group 1 (no bleaching, no fluoride, coffee) was served as control for the influence of coffee on the color of untreated teeth. Group 2, 3 and 4 were undergone bleaching with 35% $H_2O_2$ for 30 minutes a day on 3 consecutive days. Group 2 was remained without fluoridation. Group 3 and 4 were fluoridated for 1 hour with either Cavity shield$^{(R)}$ or pH 7 Gel$^{(R)}$. All of groups were immersed in coffee solution for 7 days. Color determination was accomplished using the spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade$^{(R)}$). Results: ${\Delta}L$ and ${\Delta}h$ increased, whereas ${\Delta}C$ decreased in the bleached groups. Pairwise comparisons with Tukey's HSD showed that there were statistically significant differences for ${\Delta}L$ and ${\Delta}h$ between the bleached groups and the non-bleached group (P < .05). ${\Delta}L$ and ${\Delta}h$ decreased continuously, while ${\Delta}C$ showed an increase after a decrease in all of groups during immersion in coffee solution. After immersion in coffee solution for 7 days there were no statistically significant differences for ${\Delta}L$, ${\Delta}C$ and ${\Delta}h$ between the groups (P > .05). Also there were no statistically significant differences for ${\Delta}L$, ${\Delta}C$ and ${\Delta}h$ between the group 3 treated with Cavity shield. and the group 4 treated with pH 7 Gel. (P > .05). Conclusion: It was concluded that fluoridation was not beneficial to the prevention of extrinsic stains after bleaching.

  • $TiO_2$ thin films for solar energy utilization were prepared on ITO coated glass by r.f magnetron sputtering with variations of working pressure, oxygen flow rate and annealing temperature. Ion insertion and extraction reaction, and ion storage properties of films were investigated by using a cyclic voltammetry. Transmittance of thin films in as-prepared, colored and bleached states was measured by UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The samples deposited in our sputtering conditions showed poor electrochromic properties. Improvement in ion storage properties of $TiO_2$ thin film was observed after annealing at temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ in air for 2 hours. It was found that $TiO_2$ thin film in electrochromic device could be used as a passive counter-electrode.

  • The influence of sizing, fiber and pigment type on coating penetration, using commercial paper and two types of handsheets as the base paper which were prepared from thermomechanical pulp(TMP) and hardwood bleached kraft pulp(KP) sized internally with alkyl ketone dimmer(AKD), was studied in terms of characteristics of coating holdout. Laboratory rod draw down coater was used for surface sizing and coating application. Characterization of coating penetration was done by measuring the roughness of the backside of coating layer. The backside of the coating was exposed by dissolving the fibers in a solution of cupriethylenedimine(CED). Data show that internal sizing of base paper is effective and surface sizing is more effective to prevent coating penetration. Comparing between the two types of base papers, backside roughness of coating layer of TMP sheet is much larger and sizing is more effective to reduce coating penetration than those of KP sheet. With regard to pigment type, clay is more effective than calcium carbonate for better coating holdout.

  • Recycling of wastepaper is very important for the environmental protection. However inferior strength and slower drainage characteristic that are brought by the hornification and the increase of fines respectively limited the increase of wastepaper recycling. The purpose of this study is to obtain some fundamental information that is helpful to develop the technologies which can improve the characteristics of recycled fibers. Softwood bleached kraft pulp was curlated with Hobart mixer at several different consistency. The curlation of fibers can cause the internal fibrillation and decreasing the crystallinity without serious damage of fiber surface. Curl index, kink index, freeness and WRV were increased, but crystallinity was decreased with the increase of curlation consistency.
