  • Abstract KOMAC(Korea Multi-Purpose Accelerator Complex, KAERI) has been operating a 100 MeV proton accelerator and is going to produce 68Ga isotope which is useful for diagnosis of cancer. So, it is necessary to develop a transport container for radio-activated targets. In this study, we carry out shielding analysis and structural analysis for the radio-activated target transport container using simulation programs. According to the Type A standard, the transport container includes an inner container and an overpack container. The main material of inner container is lead, and the shape is cylindrical with diameter of 152mm, height of 142mm and weight about 29 kg. It is planned to verify the possibility of field application through production of the transport container prototype in the future.

  • This paper deals with the experimental investigation on the behavior of RCS beam-column exterior joints. Two full-scale specimens of joints between reinforced concrete columns and steel beams are tested under cyclic loading. The objective of the test is to study the effect of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) on the seismic behavior of RCS joints. The load bearing capacity, story drift capacity, ductility, energy dissipation, and stiffness degradation of specimens are evaluated. The experimental results point out that the FRC joint is increased 20% of load carrying capacity and 30% of energy dissipation capacity in comparison with the RC joint. Besides, the FRC joint shown lower damage and better ductility than RC joint.

  • Satellite communication in the 21 century's high tech information world is developing rapidly, marked by high levels of applications and functions. For example, satellite communication can process and switch the speed of the service provided by a broad and vast digital multimedia system such as a long-distance all between nations or broadcasting transfer service, which is supplied by a contemporary satellite system. So, it bring about problems which lack of satellite orbit and gibes out frequency resource by increment of satellite universally. To support this, an OBP satellite system is need, which includes an on-board IF/RF switch, baseband signal processing, multi-beam antenna technology, as well as a simple transponder system. In this paper, we have outlined the next generation of satellite communication; satellite OBP transport network architecture, which offers multimedia service and applied frequency reuse method for multi-spot beam. The satellite B-ISDN transport network architecture is also analyzed.

  • The Wollaston prism (WP) has shown promise in enabling single-shot transport-of-intensity equation (ssTIE) measurements, facilitating efficient phase retrieval in microscopy. The 1-degree prism which produces the minor beam-separation angle is used to prevent distortions. An optical-glass plate is employed in the duplicated beam path to introduce defocusing. This configuration is also advantageous when aligning the beams laterally caused by the refraction of the optical-glass plate, thus allowing another method for single-shot measurements. We applied the proposed method to image the red blood cells (RBCs), demonstrating that the proposed method could be useful in various biological and medical applications.

  • This paper describes the design of RF link between RSE and OBU of ETCS and the analysis of the antenna beam pattern to get a proper communication area in the cross direction and traveling direction of lanes. This stage should be performed prior to determination of system requirements of ITS service based on active DSRC. This study is important and fundamental technical analysis to design and implement base station of ETCS.

  • One of the more promising proposals for guiding and focusing neutral atoms involves dark hollow laser beams. When the frequency of the laser is detuned to the blue of resonance, the dipole force the atoms feel in the light confines them to the dark core where the atoms can be transported with minimal interaction with the light. The ability of the all-light atom guides to transport large number of ultracold atoms for long distances without physical walls leads to the possibility of a versatile tool for atom lithography, atom interferometry, atomic spectroscopy as well as for transporting and manipulating Bose-Einstein condensates. Furthermore since the atoms transported in all-light atom guides do not come into contact with matter, they can in principle be used to transport antimatter as well. The ability to vary the core size of the hollow beam makes the all-light atom guide potentially useful for focusing neutral atoms. The atoms could be focused as tight as the core size of the hollow beam at its waist. This new focusing scheme, called the atom funnel, would not show spherical and chromatic aberrations that conventional harmonic focusing suffers from. (omitted)

  • This paper deals with experimental investigation and modeling of the static behavior of a novel RCS beam-column exterior joint. The studied joint detail is a through-column type in which an H steel profile totally embedded inside RC column is directly welded to the steel beam. The H steel profile was covered by two supplementary plates in the joint area in order to avoid the stirrups resisting shear in the joint area. Two full-scale through-column-type RCS joints were tested under static loading. The objectives of the tests were to examine the connection performance and to highlight the contribution of two supplementary plates on the shear resistance of the joint. A reliable nonlinear 3D finite element model was developed using ABAQUS software to predict the response and behavior of the studied RCS joint. An extensive parametric study was performed to investigate the influences of the stirrups, the encased profile length and supplementary plate length on the behavior of the studied RCS joint.

  • Construction automation is yet to be improved since construction site still faces a lot of high risks and difficulties. This research focuses on applying robotic beam assembly system in place of construction workers. This system consists of CF (Construction Factory) structure to provide adequate working environment to robot automation. The CF structure not only gives automation environment for a robot but also houses the equipments to protect from outside effects. The robotic beam assembly system also consists of robotic bolting system and robot transport mechanism. It utilizes various tools to insert and join the bolts and nuts. Visual servoing helps precise robot motion by sensing bolt hole and tail of the bolt. ITA system helps non skilled workers to easily perform the assembly work with the robot system. The robot transport mechanism includes sliding rail and cross-wired lift. It carries the robot to a desired position for assembly work.

  • The analysis on heat fluxed on and transmission efficiencies by the collimators of neutral beam injection lines in KSTAR tokamak device has been carried out. And a mathematical model describing non-Gaussian beam distribution profile has been established. A neutral beam injection device is composed of 3 separate ion sources and corresponding beam transport lines, which deal with 7.8 MW of beam power, respectively. The divergence angles of ion beam are $1.2^{\circ}$and $0.5^{\circ}$, in vertical and horizontal directions, respectively. The maximum normal heat load on source exit scraper is 9.1 kW/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and net beam transmission efficiency is ~28%. The effect of misalignment of ion source and scrapers on the scraper heat load and beam transmission also has been analyzed.
