Anti-inflammatory Mechanism of Seaweeds in Murine Macrophage

  • The effect of 4 seaweed extracts (Desmarestia viridis, Dictyopteris divaricata, Scytosiphon lomentaria, and Ishige okamurae) on pro-inflammatory mediators as well as nuclear factor $(NF)-{\kappa}B$ in the stimulated Raw 264.7 cells was investigated. They reduced iNOS and interlukin $(IL)-1{\beta}$ expressions at transcription level. Of those, 3 extracts (D. divaricata, I. okamurae, and S. lomentaria) inhibited the COX-2 expression at translation level. $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ degradation was inhibited by D. divaricata and S. lomentaria extracts. Therefore, we concluded that the extracts from D. divaricata and S. lomentaria could inhibit the activation of murine macrophage through the blocking of $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation.

  • It this paper, the piezoelectric and electro-induced strain properties of (P $b_{1-}$2x/3/B $i_{x}$ )[N $i_{1}$3/N $b_{2}$3/)$_{0.4}$( $Ti_{0.6}$Z $r_{0.4}$)$_{0.6}$] $O_3$ceramics (x=0, 0.005, 0.02) were investigated with the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, and the feasibility of the application for bimorph actuator was evaluated by measuring the dynamic properties of the piezoelectric bimorph fabricated with above ceramics. Dielectric constant was enhanced with the increase of B $i^{3+}$ substitution, and appeared the maximum value of 5032 at x=0.01 composition. Increasing the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, the electromechanical coefficient( $k_{p}$ , $k_{31}$ ) was increased up to the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the value of 0.656, 0.439, respectively. The piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$ $d_{31}$ ) had the highest value of 344, 825 with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The strain, generated by 60 Hz AC electric field, had the largest value of 1200($\times$10$^{-6}$ $\Delta$1/1) in the composition with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The dynamic properties of the bimorph actuator, fabricated with the composition substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the largest value of 325 $\mu$m at $\pm$150 V square pulse. square pulse.are pulse..

  • 1bit full adder have 3 input (including carry_in) and 2 outputs(Sum and Carry_out). Because of 1 bit full adder's propagation delay. We usually use 4-bit binary full adder with fast carry, 74LS283. The 74LS283 is positive logic circuit chip. But the logic function of binary adder is symmetrical, so it can be possible to use it not only positive logic but also the negative logic. This thesis use symmetrical property. such as $C_{i+1}(\bar{a_i}\bar{b_i}\bar{c_i})=C_{i+1}{\bar}(a_i,\;b_i,\;c_i)$ and $S_i(\bar{a_i}\bar{b_i}\bar{c_i})=\bar{S_i}(a_i,\;b_i,\;c_i)$. And prove this property with logic operation. Using these property, the 74LS283 adder is possile as the negation logic circuit. It's very useful to use the chip in negative logic. because many system chip is negative logic circuit. for example when we have negative logic chip with 74LS283. we don't need any not gate for 74LS283 input, and just use output of adder(74LS283) as the negation of original output.

소백산 천문대 CCD 측광계의 BVRI 표준화 (BVRI Standardization of the CCD Photometric System of Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory)

  • 소백산 천문대의 61cm 망원경에 부착된 bvri CCD 측광 시스템으로 근접쌍성 V523 Cas를 2003년 1월에 4일 밤을 관측하여 792점의 CCD 영상을 얻었다. 이 영상 내에 있는 17개의 BVRI 표준성을 이용하여 소백산 천문대의 bvri 측광계와 Johnson-Cousins의 BVRI 측광계 사이의 변환 관계를 V=v-0.0689(B-V)+0.0063, B-V=1.3197(b-v)-0.1733, V-R=0.9210(v-r)-0.1309, R-I=0.8892(r-i)-0.1055와 같이 구하였다. 이 식을 이용하여 근접쌍성 V523 Cas 근처에 있는 57개 별들의 표준 V등급과 색지수(B-V, V-R, R-I)를 결정하였다.

The Inhibitory Effect of Lycii Fructus on LPS-stimulated NF-${\kappa}B$ Activation and iNOS Expression in RAW 264.7 Macrophages

  • Objective : Anti-inflammatory effects of the extract of Lycii Fructus on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells were investigated. Method : In order to assess the cytotoxic effect of Lycii Fructus on the raw 264.7 macrophages 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay was performed. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) analysis of the mRNA levels of tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$(TNF-$\alpha$) and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) was performed in order to provide an estimate of the relative level of expression of these genes. The protein level of the inhibitor of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B(I{\kappa}B)$ and nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$(NF-${\kappa}B$) activity was investigated by Western blot assay. NO production was investigated by NO detection. Result : Lycii Fructus suppressed NO production by inhibiting the LPS-induced expressions of iNOS and TNF-$^-\alpha$ mRNA and iNOS protein in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. Also, Lycii Fructus suppressed activation of NF-${\kappa}B$ in the nucleus. Conclusion : These results show that the extract of Lycii Fructus has anti-inflammatory effect probably by suppressing iNOS expressions through the down-regulation of NF-${\kappa}B$ binding activity.

Magnolol Inhibits LPS-induced NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel Activation by Blocking p38 Kinase in Murine Macrophages

  • This study demonstrates the ability of magnolol, a hydroxylated biphenyl compound isolated from Magnolia officinalis, to inhibit LPS-induced expression of iNOS gene and activation of NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel in RAW 264.7 cells. Immunohisto-chemical staining of iNOS and Western blot analysis showed magnolol to inhibit iNOS gene expression. Reporter gene assay and electrophoretic mobility shift assay showed that magnolol inhibited NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel transcriptional activation and DNA binding, respectively. Since p38 is important in the regulation of iNOS gene expression, we investigated the possibility that magnolol to target p38 for its anti-inflammatory effects. A molecular modeling study proposed a binding position for magnolol that targets the ATP binding site of p38 kinase (3GC7). Direct interaction of magnolol and p38 was further confirmed by pull down assay using magnolol conjugated to Sepharose 4B beads. The specific p38 inhibitor SB203580 abrogated the LPS-induced NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel activation, whereas the selective MEK-1 inhibitor PD98059 did not affect the NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel. Collectively, the results of the series of experiments indicate that magnolol inhibits iNOS gene expression by blocking NF-${\kappa}B$/Rel and p38 kinase signaling.

Pig Skin Gelatin Hydrolysates Attenuate Acetylcholine Esterase Activity and Scopolamine-induced Impairment of Memory and Learning Ability of Mice

  • The protective effect of pig skin gelatin water extracts (PSW) and the low molecular weight hydrolysates of PSW generated via enzymatic hydrolysis with Flavourzyme® 1000L (LPSW) against scopolamine-induced impairment of cognitive function in mice was determined. Seventy male ICR mice weighing 20-25 g were randomly assigned to seven groups: Control (CON); scopolamine (SCO, 1 mg/kg B.W., intraperitoneally (i.p.); tetrahydroaminoacridine 10 [THA 10, tacrine; 10 mg/kg B.W. per oral (p.o.) with SCO (i.p.)]; PSW 10 (10 mg/kg B.W. (p.o.) with SCO (i.p.); PSW 40 (40 mg/kg B.W. (p.o.) with SCO (i.p.); LPSW 100 (100 mg/kg B.W. (p.o.) with SCO (i.p.); LPSW 400 (400 mg/kg B.W. (p.o.) with SCO (i.p.). All treatment groups, except CON, received scopolamine on the day of the experiment. The oxygen radical absorbance capacity of LPSW 400 at 1 mg/mL was 154.14 μM Trolox equivalent. Administration of PSW and LPSW for 15 weeks did not significantly affect on physical performance of mice. LPSW 400 significantly increased spontaneous alternation, reaching the level observed for THA and CON. The latency time of animals receiving LPSW 400 was higher than that of mice treated with SCO alone in the passive avoidance test, whereas it was shorter in the water maze test. LPSW 400 increased acetylcholine (ACh) content and decreased ACh esterase activity (p<0.05). LPSW 100 and LPSW 400 reduced monoamine oxidase-B activity. These results indicated that LPSW at 400 mg/kg B.W. is a potentially strong antioxidant and contains novel components for the functional food industry.

적응 블라인드 CMA 어레이를 이용한 간섭 제거 수신기에 관한 연구 (A Study on Interference Cancelling Receiver with Adaptive Blind CMA Array)

  • DS-CDMA 시스템에서는 다중 접속으로 인하여 다중 접속 간섭 문제가 발생되어진다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 간섭 제거기가 사용되어졌다. 기존 간섭 제거 수신기는 연속 간섭 제거기와 안테나 어레이를 적용한 구조이다. 이 구조에서 가중치 벡터를 갱신하는 방법에 따라서 방법 I과 II로 구별되어진다. 본 논문에서는 기존 구조에서 가중치 벡터를 갱신하기 위하여 constant modulus 알고리즘의 비용함수를 사용한 적응 블라인드 CMA 어레이 간섭 제거 수신기를 제안하였다. 모의 실험은 가우시안 환경 하에서 SIR과 BER 곡선에 의해서 제안된 수신기와 연속 간섭 제거기예 안테나 어레이를 확장한 기존 간섭 제거 기술들과 비교하였다. 모의 실험 결과, 제안된 수신기가 기존 수신기 방법 I보다 SIR 곡선에서 1.5[dB]의 SIR 이득을 지니고, 방법 II보다는 약 0.5[dB]의 SIR 이득을 지닌다. BER 곡선에서는 방법 I보다는 약 2[dB] SNR 이득을 지니고, 방법II보다는 약 0.5[dB] SNR 이득을 지닌다. 따라서 제안된 간섭 제거기가 기존 간섭 제거 기들보다 더 나은 성능을 지니고 있음을 보여 주고 있다.

습식 배연탈황 시스템의 효율 향상을 위한 전산해석 (Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis for Improving the Efficiency of Desulfurization System for the Wet Flue Gas)

  • 본 논문에서는 CFDRC 사의 상용 CFD 소프트웨어인 CFD-ACE+로 전산유체역학 기법을 적용하여 수치 해석을 수행하여 배연탈황 설비에서 Induced Draft Fan(I.D.Fan) 출구부터 Booster Up Fan(B.U.Fan) 입구까지 난류 유동장과 연소 유동 문제를 모사하여 배기가스 계통 설비의 유동 특성을 해석하였다. 배기가스가 I.D.Fan 출구 ~ B.U.Fan 입구 구간을 적정속도로 균일하게 유동하여 B.U.Fan로 균일하게 유입되도록 하며 압력손실이 적게 발생하도록 설계기준 보일러 부하와 최대연속 정격유량의 보일러 부하에서 이 구간의 안내깃을 검토하였다. 검토한 결과에 대해 CFD 해석을 수행하여 I.D.Fan 출구에서 안내깃을 제거하고 B.U.Fan 입구 전에 안내깃을 보강할 수 있도록 설계를 변경하였다. 배기가스 계통에 변경된 설계를 적용하여 수치모사한 결과에서 배연탈황 설비 내부의 배기가스 압력손실이 줄어들고 유속과 유선이 균일하게 유동할 수 있어 배연탈황 시스템의 효율이 향상한 것을 확인하였다.

  • 조선의 가장 위대한 산학자 홍정하(洪正夏)의 저서 $\ll$구일집(九一集)$\gg$(1724)에 들어있는 최소공배수를 구하는 법을 조사하여 홍정하의 수론에 대한 업적을 밝혀낸다. 홍정하는 두 자연수 a, b의 최대공약수 d와 최소공배수 l 에 대하여 l = $a\frac{b}{d}$=$b\frac{a}{d}$, $\frac{a}{d}$, $\frac{b}{d}$는 서로 소인 것을 인지하여, 자연수 $a_1,\;a_2,{\ldots},a_n$의 최대공약수 D에 대하여, $\frac{a_i}{D}$($1{\leq}i{\leq}n$)도 서로 소이고, 이들의 최소공배수 L도 서로 소인 $c_i(1{\leq}i{\leq}n)$가 존재하여 L = $a_ic_i(1{\leq}i{\leq}n)$임을 보였다. 이 결과는 조선에서 얻어낸 수론에 관한 수학적 업적 중에 가장 뛰어난 것 중의 하나이다. 홍정하가 수학적 구조를 밝혀내는 과정을 드러내는 것이 이 논문의 목적이다.
