Flower Bud Differentiation and Growth Characteristics of Strawberry through Automatic Control of Temperature and Day Length (온도와 일장의 자동조절에 의한 딸기의 화아분화와 생육특성)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of the automatic control of night temperature and day length on the flower bud initiation growth responses and yield of strawberries. Flower bud initiation was observed only 14 days after treatment in plants forced with automatic system but not in plants forced with traditional methods, and flower bud development was further progressed by an automatic system. In genernal, the crown diameter of runner plants derived from strawberries grown with the automatic system was smaller than those from the plants grown under hand-operated system and this tendency was clear in plants placed at middle and low position during forcing. The rate of transpiration was higher in plants treated with hand operated method but the content of chlorophyll was lower than those treated with the automatic system. Results indicated that automatic system has an advantage in stimulation of flower bud initiation and improving the quility of runner plants.

  • The Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) is developing the Bimodal-tram. The vehicle has a navigation control system (NCS) for automatic driving. The vehicle has to follow a reference path in automatic mode. NCS uses magnetic markers to calculate the vehicle position. The vehicle lane is marked with permanent magnets that are buried in the road. In this purpose, we show the characteristics and the configuration of NCS.

  • Photon mapping is an efficient global illumination technique for realistic image synthesis that has been developed in computer graphics. In this paper, an adaptive photon mapping in the use of automatic differentiation is proposed. Since the automatic differentiation is used when photons emit from the light sources through the scene, we can check the variation of surrounding shape. Therefore, we can decrease the number of photons and generate an image in relatively low computational cost.

  • In general, manufacturing error is originated from bad material, machine tool defection and tool breakage. When the manufacturing process is stable, the most of error come from the tool wear. In common on-machine measurement teaching probe and touch sensor are widely used however in this paper the electric touch point type automatic tool compensation system is developed the performance of it is validated and effective operating is proposed.

  • The purpose of this study intend to develop the automatic voice system for language communicating over foreign patients in testing of magnetic resonance imaging. Used sentences for the automatic voice system was selected with twelve sentences and five foreign languages in hospital in use. These translated texts were provided free of charge from Oddcast's website, which is recorded each language-specific voice as Wav files, The recorded audio file were produced by the two types of a power-point show of MS-office 2013(extension; ppsx) form and Web-enabled system using the PHP program to be applied in the mobile phone environment. It is considered to relieve the stress about an language barrier to medical technician and the voice system designed with the variable language will be enhanced the diagnostic information on foreign patients. Because automatic voice system designed for this study can enhance the understanding of test in between korean medical technician and foreign patients, It will be expected to utilize more usefully in clinical practice.

Automatic Control for Ship Collision Avoidance Support System (선박충돌회피지원 시스템을 위한 자동제어)

  • The studies on automatic ship collision avoidance system, which have been carried out last 10 years, are facing on new situation due to newly developed high technology such as computer and other information system. It was almost impossible to make it used in real navigation 3-4 years ago because of the absence of the tool to get other ship's information, however recently developed technology suggests new possibility. This study is carried out to develop the algorithm of automatic ship collision support system. The NOMOTO ship's mathematic model is adopted in simulation for its simplicity. The fuzzy reason rules are used for course-keeping system and for the calculation of Collision Risk using TCPA/DCPA. Moreover ‘encounter type’ between two ships is analyzed based on Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and collision avoidance action is suggested. Some situations are simulated to verity the developed algorithm and appropriate avoidance action is shown in the simulation.

  • We propose a learning method for improving the performance of the backpropagation algorithm. The proposed method is using a fuzzy logic system for automatic tuning of the learning rate of each weight. Instead of choosing a fixed learning rate, the fuzzy logic system is used to dynamically adjust the learning rate. The inputs of fuzzy logic system are delta and delta bar, and the output of fuzzy logic system is the learning rate. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we performed simulations on the XOR problem, character classification, and function approximation. The results show that the proposed method considerably improves the performance compared to the general backpropagation, the backpropagation with momentum, and the Jacobs'delta-bar-delta algorithm.

  • This study was conducted to develop an automatic soil water content control system for greenhouse, which consisted of drip irrigation nozzles, soil water content sensors, an on/off valve, a servo-motor assembly and a control program. The control logic adopted in the system was Ziegler-Nichols algorithm and rising time, time constant and over/undershoot ratio as control variables in the system was selected and determined by various control experiments to maintain small delay time and low overshoot. Based on the experimental results, it was concluded that the control system developed in the study could replace the unreliable conventional greenhouse soil water management.

  • The In solar power system, the height and azimuth of the sun are important parameters which control generated power magnitude. The tracking method that controls the daily generation magnitude according to latitude and longitude using the two axles is often used in the existing sunlight tracking system today. In this two-axle PV track control system, the self-load is concentrated on one FRAME. It is influenced of the regular load, snow load and the wind load, etc. It is difficult to set up the system in the conventional building. This research is a development about the small-scale economy track device of independent load-dispersing solar generation system. The position tracking algorithm is through new coordinates transformation calculating the height and azimuth of the sun.

  • In this paper the development of an automatic body temperature measuring system which can be attached to the milking machine has been studied. Since the disease is highly related to the body temperature of the cattle, early detection of the abnormal temperature would prevent the severe problems which may occur in dairy farms. The electronic component AD590 is used as a temperature sensor for the system. The device is highly robust against the noise since the output signal is the current. So it can be applied to the long distance sensing. The resolution of the signal is $0.1{\circ}C$ and the current is 10 mV. Also the A/D converter is designed for interfacing the sensor with a computer. A temperature measuring experiment using the developed system has been done for measuring the temperature of human beings and the system was proven to be useful for measuring the body temperature of the dairy cattle properly.
