  • 본 논문에서는 사이버 교육의 시스템적 본질을 이해할 수 있도록 사이버교육시스템의 구축 현황을 살펴보고, 실제 JAVA환경(서블릿)에서 평가지원기능을 제공하는 Web Lecture Authoring Architecture를 설계 하였다. 사이버교육 시스템이 제공하는 기능은 크게 과목관리기능, 문제관리기능. 시험관리기능, 성적평가관리기능, 학생관리기능으로 분류할 수 있으며 기존의 사이버 교육 시스템 구축사례에 미흡한 문제은행기능 및 가상시험 기능을 포함하고 있다. Web Lecture Authoring Architecture는 웹을 기반으로 구축하였으며 C/S 환경에서 구축된 시스템과는 달리 Client에 별도의 시스템을 설치할 필요 없이 웹 브라우저만으로 인터넷에서 사이버교육을 제공할 수 있도록 설계하였다는데 의의를 가지고 있다.

  • Content is often developed inconsistently in technical authoring environments, as new documents are created and existing documents are revised. The Darwin Information Typing Architecture(DITA) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical documentations. The core of most advanced authoring and publishing systems is the concept of content reuse. In this paper, we describe to design and implement an authoring and producing system of different technical documentations for the accreditation programs of Engineering Education using DITA XML. It provide a content reuse method for accomplishing the improvement of content consistency and the speed-up of the production in technical documentations.

  • In this paper, we present a design and implementation of a TV-Anytime metadata authoring tool for providing personalized data-broadcasting services. The TV-Anytime specifies metadata schema, metadata coding and delivery, and provides service models to provide personalized broadcasting content services at anytime when users want to consume using metadata including ECG (Electronic Content Guide) and content descriptive information in a PDR (Personal Digital Recorder)-centric environment. In spite of a useful services based on TV-anytime metadata, the metadata authoring still remains as a harassing and time consuming task. For easy metadata authoring, the proposed metadata authoring provides the following key functionalities: metadata visualization, media access, and semi-automatic method for editing segment related metadata.

  • Digilog Book, the next generation publication material, supplies digitalized contents on an analog book by integrating digital contents into existing analog books. There are some studies related to authoring tools which are to authorize, and publish some books which provide digital contents by using VR or AR techniques. In this paper, a pen-type haptic user interface for Digilog Book authoring tool has been introduced. This haptic user interface is developed for more realistic and more effective authoring tasks. This haptic interface provides haptic effects for authoring tasks which are including translation, rotation, scaling, and menu selection. In this research, we designed a body, control circuits, vibration haptic patterns for haptic user interface, and a protocol for between haptic user interface and Digilog Book main control system. Also a simple user study has been done with a developed haptic user interface.

  • Teachers, who are the subject of on-site training, cannot create education content easily reflecting their experience for themselves, and also cannot distribute the content to leaners. Even though the content is distributed, there are limited in available devices as well as representable content features. So, an applicable authoring tool is needed at the user level. In this paper, we propose an authoring tool by which users and teachers can make education content easier based on WYSIWYG interface, and can distribute that. The proposed authoring tool supports various media education content of XML format so that viewers on various smart devices can see the content regardless of operating systems. And not only we conduct survey of users to evaluate convenience and expression of proposed authoring tool, but also we check whether the content can be equally visualized on various smart devices.

  • Jungganbo is a writing method for the Korean traditional music. Since writing the Korean music needs to be done by hand and Chinese characters are used, only an expert musician might handle Jungganbo. In this paper, an authoring software tool for Jungganbo is introduced. It is useful for anybody who wants to compose the Korean tradition music with a computer. This tool also enables to standardize writing techniques of Jungganbo because a musical score was done by hands without using an authoring tool. In addition, this authoring tool can be easily used since its environment is very similar to other windows-based programs such as Ms-word and Hwp. Not only the beginners but also the experts can use this authoring tool for their Korean traditional music writing easily.

  • Digital documents takes place of paper (off-line) documents, because of the advantages of digital (on-line) documents: supply of information using dynamic contents and good to communize. However, users prefer paper documents to digital documents with the advantages of paper documents: inexpensive, handy to carry, and good to read. Therefore, for providing advantages of digital documents to users who prefer paper documents, many laboratories study about methods which augment digital documents to paper documents. In this paper, we propose the Hybrid Documents Authoring Tool (HDAT), which can insert, delete, and modify on-line information to the off-line. The proposed system is a unified authoring tool for reading and writing of on-line information. And we provide the most natural environment to users using computer vision technology without additional devices such as markers or patterns to retrieve documents. As shown by experimental results, we make sure that our proposed system has high usability and good efficiency on various environments through we measure the low-level of system requirement.

An XMT Authoring System supporting Multiple Presentation Environments (다양한 재생 환경을 지원하는 XMT 저작 시스템)

  • The XMT standard is MPEG-4 Scene Description of textual format. It can be utilized to edit the audio/video media for broadcasting and develop the user oriented media contents. This paper proposes XMT authoring system that supports exchange among contents in various presentation environment. The XMT authoring system creates two levels of textual syntax and semantics: XMT-$\alpha$ format and XMT-$\Omega$ format. Because XMT-$\alpha$ and XMT-$\Omega$ have different expression method about an object, the authoring tool offers interface for them. the authoring tool offers interface for them. Also, it defines interior data structure that can support two file formats, and offers the function that transforms XMT-$\alpha$ into BIFS and transforms XMT-$\Omega$ into SMIL or XMT-$\alpha$. It offers interoperability among multimedia data in various environment that is XMT's characteristic.

  • We are suggesting an authoring tool can be used for prototyping in the augmented reality based product design environment. This tool is for authors without an engineering background to use. Our authoring tool can adjust the properties of visual, sound, and haptic feedback at the same time for more practical prototyping. Also the proposed modulated architecture can be applied flexibly to changes of platforms or hardware. Also user interfaces can be dynamically updated by changing just description files. finally, the suggested authoring methods exploit the advantages of both graphical and tangible user interfaces. Authors can intuitively make adjustments to many parameters using the TUI, and then they can do the same thing precisely using the GVI. The proposed authoring methods can be used for exhibition and entertainment contents using multi-sensory feedback in AR environment. As a future work, qualitative and quantitative usability test will be conducted.

  • Recently both the importance and the interests of field-experience learning have kept increasing since the Education of Ministry encourages students to take a field-experience learning with the self-driven and creative education as the main issue in the 7th revised education curriculum in 2009. As the importance of field-experience learning goes up continuously, not only the release of its related mobile applications is increasing, but also a variety of researches for supporting the field-experience learning are ongoing. In this research we perform two things. First, we define the basic concept of authoring tool for which support the field-experience learning based on its characteristics and user requirements analysis. We confirmed that the authoring tool for the field-experience learning has to 1) support all activities that happen in pre-field, field-experience and post-field phases, 2) be possible to write the location-based field work, 3) have the authoring function which reflects the characteristics of curriculum such as history, science and geography, etc. that the field learning can be realized, 4) be designed as the structure that the results of inquiring activity after the field experience activity can be reused. Second, we create a conceptual design after confirming the authoring tool.
