Estimation on Economic Value for Cultivated Wild Ginseng using Choice Experiment (선택실험법을 이용한 산양삼의 경제적 가치평가)

  • The study was conducted to set up the criteria of judgement that could be utilized for cultivated wild ginseng, easy and well-defined for consumers to understand. For the purpose, the study examined consumers' perception and valuation on each attribute of cultivated wild ginseng that was related to the product quality through a choice experiment. Attributes used in the experiment were based on exterior characteristics of cultivated wild ginseng including ages, planting methods, external dimension, length of fibrous roots, and hue and color. Residents in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were interviewed and a total of 173 questionnaires were acquired for the analysis. According to the result, respondents valued the highest score on ginseng grown by direct sowing, while they valued rather lower scores on ginseng's external dimension. In general, the hypothetical model was shown to exist within the stable range.

  • Our aims is a exploration for relationship between father and male-adolescence. For this purpose, we have employed several self-reported questionnaires, including BDI, Rosenberg self-esteem scale, Attitude for father etc. Our hypothesis is that the perception, the attachment, age and alcohol drinking, accademic career of father influences male-adolescent's self-esteem, mood, sex-role, academic accomplishment, satisfying of school life. We have surveyed questionnaire at one middle school, at Suwon city. We have get 196 samples. We have categorized subjective answers and analyzed relations. The result is that a positive relation is self-esteem, sex-role, and attachment, a neagtive relation is mood and no relation is age, academic career, alcohol drinking. Also, father's overprotection attribute on negative influences. We have many limitations. First limitation is a small number. Second is few previous study. Third is a relative analysis, not cause-effect analysis.

A Perceptual Mapping of Coffee Shop Brands and Preference Attributes (선택속성에 따른 에스프레소 커피 전문점의 포지셔닝에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the competitive positions of five coffee shop brands(i.e., Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Hollys, Angelinus, and Tom N Toms) in Korea. For this study, data were gathered from the residents of Seoul, Busan and Daegu from September 22 to October 11, 2009. In order to accomplish the purpose of the study, MDS was utilized to investigate differences in customer's perception of the position of five coffee shop brands. The results of positioning analysis showed that there was competitive relationship between Hollys and Angelinus. Also, the positioning of Tom N Toms was close to Hollys and Angelinus. However, Starbucks, the market leader, and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the market follower, were their own identity in their brands. According to the result of the study, it will be helpful for the marketers who need to establish a marketing strategy. Future studies could include other various variables and more thorough investigation into them.

Measuring Service Quality Perception of University Faculty Members & Staffs Towards Faculty Foodservice Based on Lifestyle Segmentation (대학 교직원의 라이프스타일에 따른 세분시장별 대학 교직원 급식소 서비스 품질 인식 분석)

  • Market segmentation helps providers to find better marketing opportunities and allows foodservice managers to develop the right product for each target market. Therefore, this study, taking university faculty and staff as subject, is intended to diagnose the relative value of service quality attribute, on the basis service quality scenario of faculty foodservice; to suggest price for improving customer loyalty in market segments. A questionnaire was developed ar d mailed to 600 Yonsei university faculty and staffs. A total of 385 questionnaires were usable; resulting in a 58.7% of faculty and a 69.7% of staff response rate, respectively. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS/Win 6.12 for descriptive Analysis, ANOVA, principal factor analysis, cluster analysis, reliability test and discriminant analysis. The results of the study are as below. Eighteen questions were selected for measuring respondents' lifestyle by AIO method and the seven lifestyle factors derived from factor analysis and aggregated distinct 4 clusters. Service quality attributes of the scenario were determined with 'food quality', 'menu variety', 'atmosphere', 'fast service', and 'clean and sanitation'. 'Food quality', 'menu variety', 'atmosphere', 'fast service', and 'clean and sanitation', in decreasing order, were identified as improving customer loyalty. However, most faculty and staffs were satisfied with the present meal price. The result of this study indicates that the relative value of service quality was differed significantly among the various market segments. 'Food quality', 'menu variety', and 'atmosphere' were determined as major service quality attributes. Thus, customer loyalty could be increased by improving food taste and quality, atmosphere, and service delivery. (Korean J Community Nutrition 8(4) : 556 ∼565, 2003)

Residents' Perceptions of Tourism Impacts on Soraksan National Park (설악산(雪岳山) 국립공원(國立公園) 지역주민(地域住民)의 관광영향(觀光影響) 지각(知覺))

  • The purposes of this study were to understand the resident' attitudes toward national parks and to identify the residents' perceptions of tourism and the influence of socioeconomic characteristics on their response. In winter of 1997, 153 questionnaires were obtained from a convenience sample of households within Soraksan National Park boundary. The residents perceived both positive and negative environmental and economic impacts of tourism, however, they were reluctant to attribute social costs to tourism. Despite some negative tourism impacts, most of the residents supported additional tourism development and disagreed to limit the number of visitors. Their perceptions of tourism impacts were varied with age, education level, economic dependency on tourism, place of residence, and length of residence.

  • Product image location in search engine advertising plays an important role in consumer perception when the product is relatively low involved and has functional value. The purpose of this research is to investigate the interaction effects of product image location and product type on advertising effectiveness. Building on the literature of location effects, we show that for products for which heaviness is considered a positive attribute, product image placed on the right are preferred. To test hypotheses, a 2(product image location: left vs. right) × 2(product type: single vs. bundle) experiment is conducted and a total of 144 paricipants took part in the experiment. The results revealed that respondents show higher brand attitude and purchse intention toward a bundle product's advertising with product image place on the right. The results provide implications and suggestions for improving search engine advertising and marketing strategies.

College Students' Hanbok Rental Behaviors and Factors Affecting Their Hanbok Rental Intention (남녀대학생의 한복대여행태 및 한복대여의도 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore university students' Hanbok rental behavior and to examine factors that influence their intention to rent Hanbok. Questionnaires were distributed in Universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, and the final 202 responses were used for data analysis. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-tests, and multiple regressions analysis were used. Sixty-one percent of those who have experienced Hanbok rental said they rented Hanboks to experience tourism and 22 percent said they rented Hanboks to take pictures, and the main rental places are tourist attractions such as Jeonju Hanok Village. Respondents indicated that the design and color of Hanbok were important product attributes when they consider renting a Hanbok. They also indicated that the opinions of other users posted on the Internet/Social Network were their main source of information for Hanbok rental. The result of cluster analysis showed that there were two groups of Hanbok rental consumers based on clothing consumption values: novelty-seeking group and practicality-seeking group. The two groups were different in terms of few factors of the benefit sought of Hanbok rental, product attributes, and information sources. Regression analysis revealed that traditional culture perception, purpose-built Hanbok pursuit benefit, pragmatic pursuit benefit, attitude toward Hanbok, and the previous Hanbok rental experience significantly affected respondents' intention to rent Hanbok. Based on the results, this study summarizes the key features of each group and provides suggestion for developing strategic marketing activities.

  • With the revitalization of non-face-to-face transactions, the difference between the size of branches and transaction costs among securities firms has decreased, and the importance of the stock trading system has increased. In particular, the mobile trading system has become more important due to the increase in the proportion of transactions in the mobile trading system, which is widely used by individual investors, and the increase in the number of individual investors after COVID-19. However, user-centered usability studies are insufficient as usability studies on mobile trading systems are conducted through literature surveys or survey methods. Therefore, in this study, a repertory grid technique that finds user's empirical perception was used to find out user-centered usability attributes. The usability attributes of the mobile trading system from the user's point of view were elicited, and the difference in the usability attributes in terms of frequency and importance between the user group and the developer group was identified.

Analysis of Customer Perception for Quality Attributes According to Consumers' Coffee Consumption Types (커피의 소비 유형별 품질 속성에 대한 고객 인식 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze importance and performance for coffee quality attributes based on customers according to their consumption types; and provided ideas and marketing strategies to increase sales through IPAs (Importance-Performance Analysis). University students in Incheon were conducted a survey from March 13, 2007 to March 31, 2007. As for a quality attribute with the highest importance, the survey showed 'price' was important for ${\ulcorner}$vending machine coffee${\lrcorner}$, and 'taste' was important for ${\ulcorner}$commercial coffee${\lrcorner}$, and ${\ulcorner}$coffee house coffee${\lrcorner}$. And 'thirst relief' was found to have the lowest importance for three types of coffee. As for a quality attributes with the highest performance, the survey showed 'taste' was important for ${\ulcorner}$coffee house coffee${\lrcorner}$ 'price' was important for ${\ulcorner}$vending machine coffee${\lrcorner}$; and 'period of circulation' was important for ${\ulcorner}$commercial coffee${\lrcorner}$. IPA results for coffee quality attributes also showed quality attributes that should be improved quickly for each type of coffee: 'hygiene', 'safety', 'period of circulation', and 'package' were for ${\ulcorner}$vending machine coffee${\lrcorner}$; 'price' and 'freshness' were for ${\ulcorner}$commercial coffee${\lrcorner}$; and 'price' and 'period of circulation' were for ${\ulcorner}$coffee house coffee${\lrcorner}$.

Perception to the dietary guidelines for Koreans among Korean adults based on sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle (한국 성인의 인구사회학적 특성 및 생활습관에 따른 식생활지침 인식수준)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of the dietary guidelines for Koreans (DGK) among Korean adults based on sociodemographic and lifestyle factors. Methods: A total of 514 Korean adults aged 19-64 years completed a self-administered online questionnaire assessing their perceptions of DGK, sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, and subjective assessments regarding the importance of 11 nutrients and 16 food groups. The differences in the perceptions of DGK according to the characteristics of the participants were analyzed using t-tests or ANOVA. Additionally, the differences in the subjective assessments of nutrients and food groups according to the perceptions of DGK were examined using t-tests. Results: The awareness of DGK was significantly higher among participants aged 50-64 years, living in single-person households, who were physically active, with a lower frequency of eating out, and with a higher interest in dietary information (p < 0.05 for all). The understanding of DGK was significantly higher among participants aged 19-29 years, females, individuals who were under or normal weight, non-smokers, those who self-evaluated their diet as healthy, and those with a high interest in dietary information (p < 0.05 for all). Additionally, the applicability of DGK was significantly higher among participants aged 50-64 years, who were physically active, who self-evaluated their diet as healthy, and who had a high interest in dietary information (p < 0.05 for all). Participants with a higher perception of DGK tended to attribute greater importance to most nutrients and food groups compared to those with a lower perception level. However, processed meat and foods, beverages, and alcoholic drinks consistently received lower importance ratings compared to other nutrients and food groups, regardless of the perception level. Conclusion: This research suggests that the perceptions of DGK among Korean adults may vary depending on sociodemographic and lifestyle factors. Consequently, there is a need to customize and diversify the methods for providing dietary guidelines.
