  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship, direct and indirect effects between adolescents' peer attachment, self-resilience, academic stress, and smartphone addiction. The subject of this study used panel data of a total of 1280 middle school students who participated in the 14th study of the Children's Panel of the Korea Child Care Policy Institute. For data analysis, SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 programs were used. As a result of the study, children's peer attachment was positively correlated with ego resiliency, academic stress and negatively correlated with smartphone addiction. All pathways except peer attachment and smartphone addiction were found to have a direct influence, and adolescents' peer attachment had an indirect effect on smartphone addiction through ego resiliency and parental achievement pressure. In conclusion, in order to lower adolescents' smartphone addiction, practical interventions to improve ego resiliency and reduce academic stress through peer attachment are considered necessary.

  • This study investigated the influence of life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers on the self-esteem of adolescents in three time points. The study population consisted of a nationally representative sample of middle school 1st grade students who completed the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) of the National Youth Policy Institute in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Descriptive statistics used included frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation; in addition, reliability, repeated measure ANOVA, and regression results were reported using SPSS statistics. The results were as follows. First, this study showed that the longitudinal changes of self-esteem, life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers were significantly different across three time points. Second, longitudinal changes in adolescents' self-esteem, life satisfaction, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers differed by gender, but accomplishment value did not. Third, life satisfaction was the most influential to self-esteem and peer attachment was the second most influential in the three data sets after controlling for gender, parents' academic attainment, and residential area. The influence of life satisfaction on self-esteem decreased across the three time points, but that of peer attachment increased over time. Instruction on life satisfaction and peer attachment needs to be more highlighted in Home Economics classes to enhance the self-esteem of adolescents.

  • Fear of missing out (FoMO) refers to the desire to stay continually connected with what others are doing because they are afraid of missing the flow or not being included. Although FoMO has been recently proposed as a widespread phenomenon within social media, there has been few empirical research by which mechanism FoMO leads to social networking service (SNS) addiction. Therefore, this study examined whether FoMO mediated the relationship between adolescents' attachment and SNS addiction proneness. A total of 517 middle and high school students participated in the study and completed self-report questionnaires. Results showed that FoMO partially mediated the relationship between adolescents' parental attachment and SNS addiction proneness, whereas the relationship between adolescents' peer attachment and SNS addiction proneness was fully mediated by FoMO. These results suggest that unstable attachment might contribute to SNS addiction through FoMO, especially in case of peer attachment. Lastly, we discussed theoretical and practical implications of this study and suggestions for future research.

  • This study aimed to examine whether neglect influences sense of community and whether such a relationship is moderated by peer attachment. For this purpose, this study employed multi variate regression analyses using the sixth-panel data (2015) of fourth-grade elementary-school children from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. Key findings were as follows: First, neglect was found to have negative impacts on sense of community. In addition, we found that peer attachment moderated the relationship between neglect and sense of community. This finding suggests that peer relationship and attachment protects some portion of negative impacts of neglect on sense of community. This study concludes with policy and practice implications to improve the well-being of adolescents.

  • We identified the mediating role of interpersonal issues in the relationship between adult attachment type and emotional expression ambivalence. The subjects of the study were 327 emotional workers who lived in five cities. As the scale, ECR-R, AEQ-K, and IIP were used. Sobel verification was performed after multiple regression analysis. The results show that the interpersonal problem partially mediates between the attachment and emotional expression ambivalence. This suggests that the characteristics of interpersonal relationships affect emotional emotions in forming close attachment relationships of emotional workers. Subsequent research will expand the scope of research by supplementing the shortcomings of existing research.

Results: There was a significantly positive effects between state-trait anger and psychosomatic symptoms. Father attachment negatively correlated state-trait anger and psychosomatic symptoms. Also, mother attachment negatively correlated state anger and psychosomatic symptoms. However, maternal attachment was not significantly associated with trait anger. Parental attachment had a significant mediating effect in relation to state-trait anger and psychosomatic symptoms. • Objectives: The aim of this study was to measure the effect of a group-based parent education program on parenting stress and attitude and comparing the same according to adult attachment styles. Methods: Twenty-two mothers who enrolled in the parent education program participated in our study. The participants filled in the Korean version of the Experience in Close Relationship Revised (ECR-R), Korean-Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (K-PSI-SF), Maternal Behavior Research Instrument (MBRI), and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) before and after the program. We compared the pre - and post-scores of the groups and compared the differences in effect according to adult attachment styles. Results: For all study participants, the Parent Distress (p=0.023) and Total Parenting Stress (p=0.018) significantly declined after the parent education program. There were no differences in other variables. Within the secure attachment group, the Total Parenting Stress (p=0.008), Parent Distress (p=0.015), and Difficult Child (p=0.011) scores in the K-PSI-SF significantly decreased after participating in the program. The Difficult Child scores (p=0.040) significantly dropped in the K-PSI-SF post program within the secure attachment group, compared to the insecure attachment group. Conclusion: The group-based parent education program impacted parenting stress. Depending on the adult attachment styles, the effect of the program varied.
